Long story short - this place has the ability to be a 5/5, but lack of communication and long wait times will eventually be their downfall!I was in Portland for 36hrs and wanted some fried seafood and chowder as you should when you're in the PNW! Came across this place and decide to check it out. They're located in an enclosed lot with a variety of food trucks and they are the only fried fish place that I saw. Upon arrival, there was no line, but waited about 7-mins before the guy working came to take our order. We decided to get a "fish & shrimp basket" and although they don't actually offer it, I was told it was ok and we would have shrimp. I paid and was handed a remote that buzzes when the food is done. After about 40-45 minutes, I walked up to the truck to see what the hold up was and was told, "almost done!" I nodded and smiled and sat back down. After another 15-mins, I went back up to check again, and same thing. Finally after over an hour, our food was ready! Got back to my table and noticed I had no shrimp! So, I had to go back up to let him know and had to wait another 15-mins and he only gave me (5) shrimp! So, long wait time & wrong order, with no remorse! I know something was wrong when the burger place next to them were putting out 10-15 orders for everyone one order our fish place was putting out. In the case of the food...?! The food is delicious - a 5/5 for sure, but this rating is for the overall experience. I would have prefer to be told that the wait would be X number of minute and I then could have decided to order it go elsewhere. The fish was very good, but those shrimps are a must have! We spent a total of $34 and that was with the tip. I would say a little bit over what I think I should have paid, especially for the hassle. I will give them another chance and hopefully I can change this rating!

Oh my word this place was amazing such delicious fish and chips!!! The shrimp rice was so tasty. My sister is visiting Portland for the first time , she absolutely loved this place Super friendly place. Thank you Cod Father

I don't know why there are all these attack reviews for this cart. The one that is not filtered and is the "first to review" is also fake, as it refers to Cajun seasoning which this truck DOES NOT USE. I've been there, I know. As Google+ will attest, with their over 100 5.0 star reviews, this is really good fish and chips! The cod is amazingly fresh and has that almost nutty flavor that fresh off the boat and line caught fish can have. The batter is crisp and not oily at all, which is an accomplishment in and of itself, as many of our most popular f&c carts might deliver wonderful fish in a crispy crust, but absolutely LOADED with oily oily OIL after being twice-fried. The tots, which used to be at the olympics-level of interest here in PDX, are really great too!I would rate this right up there with Horsebrass, but it's less expensive and I"m downtown much more than I am at middle SE Belmont.

I'm pretty picky about fish n chips when it comes to the breading. Usually I prefer a thicker, crunchier breading if u know what I mean but most places do it the thinner style. This one was the thinner style but it was fresh and crisp and thick tender pieces of flaky juicy fish. They didn't have the halibut so I went w/ the cod & it was great. The fries were also perfectly fried and seasoned as well. It was fairly priced at $19 for quality fish IMO. There was a small thing that annoyed me tho - the guy tried to charge me extra for tartar sauce which it says on the menu board it comes with. Tartar is 100% a necessity w/ fish&chips, it'd be like eating pancakes w/o syrup and that's just psycho behavior.

Delicious and fresh, well seasoned, fast service, great portions. Will be back! Perfect meal to fix a craving for fish n chips

I recently visited The Cod Father, a food truck in downtown Portland, and I have to say, it was an incredible experience.I had a gut feeling that I needed to try the fish and chips, and I'm so glad I did. The owner was so sweet and genuinely excited to serve me.I ordered the Cod fish and chips, a fish taco, and a sandwich roll on the side.First, let me say, the fish by itself, without any tartar, ketchup, or salt, was absolutely banging! It was perfectly seasoned and well-flavored with a crunchy and fluffy texture. The fish was full and filling.The tartar sauce isn't your typical tartar. It has a strong fresh garlic and dill presence, but it's the best I've ever had. It's not traditional, but I didn't even care because it was so delicious.I'm writing this review to let everyone know this place NEEDS to be tried. During my trip to Portland, I have limited time to try new things, but I definitely need to visit this place again before heading back to SoCal.I'm so happy I trusted my gut--probably one of the top 10 best meals I've ever had.

This place is the best one for seafood omg the food is very delicious,I personally enjoyed the seafood tacos ,I highly recommend this place for anyone like seafood.

I'm here to tell you that this place is GREAT! I got the large rockfish platter and could barely eat half of the generous portion I was given. The batter was crunchy and light, the fish was perfectly juicy, and there was no oiliness at all. I wanna try the full on dinner next time with the chowder and all the other bells and whistles. Give this place a try and you will be HOOKED!

Wow! I haven't had fish and chips this good in a long time! I had the regular Cod Basket. Fried to perfection! I will be returning!

Cajun spices on fish & chips. Not good. Onions in onion rings were shredded or something. Bits of onion and not a full onion
