I haven't had a Dutch Crunch roll since I moved from the Bay Area 13 yrs ago so when I heard that there is exactly one place to get them in Portland, I took a day off work to try it out (among other things). Baker's Mark is an efficient little sandwich shop! Order at the kiosk or online ahead of time, and they'll get your sandwiches ready quickly. There was a steady stream of people coming in picking up an order. I tried the roast beef and pepper jack on Dutch Crunch roll and thought it was great! The bread was freshly baked and had that nicely crackled top that provides a crunchy texture when you bite into it. Since you can specify what you want on your sandwich, it'll come out the way you like it. They had hot and cold sandwiches and one salad. Pretty straightforward. Delicious bread and if you've never tried Dutch Crunch, you really need to.

Came on a Sunday around lunch time, there was bread. Thank goodness. We had a simple Turkey sandwich and a Roast Beef with AuJus. The AuJu was excellent and something to come back for. They were both delicious, worth the $40 for two with no bevy. The sandwich were decent size for the price. Order process was easy and the food came out timely. There are indoor and outdoor seating.

Trying again after many years. I am just not a fan of dutch crust bread and I think last time I tried it out. Just a personal preference. Nice to see they had a french bread option. My husband enjoyed his salad but thought the choice of protein on the salads was too limited. Tuna, salami, basic turkey or garbanzo beans. Asked after we ate and they said next time we can ask but they will charge more as the other meats cost more. I think they could still add the option and just show it costs more. I enjoyed the warm ham and provolone sandwich on french. Usually provolone is so bland but it was pretty good melted. Very popular and a big line after noon. Reasonable prices but Boars Head meats so not high end either. I did have the special Snickerdoodle and was very happy. Two typical types of Snickerdoodle cookies (one of my favorite cookies). Either dry and crumbly (not my thing) or moist but soft. Theirs was moist and soft with good cinnamon flavor so two thumbs up from me.

I first tried Dutch crunch bread in SF Bay Area and immediately became obsessed. Dutch crunch is really common out there, but almost impossible to find here in PDX. So you can imagine how excited I was to find it here at Baker's Mark. I've heard about their Dutch crunch for years now but finally had a chance to try it out. When you step in, the smell of yeasty fresh baked bread is amazing!!! Came in on a Friday right at 11, and I was probably the second physical customer. But I saw them working hard cranking out online orders already. By the time I finished my sandwich the place was packed!!!From what I could see, their cold cuts are all boar's head. I got the godfather with all the works and on Dutch crunch bread of course. I personally give it a 3.5-4/5. It's a solid choice, don't get me wrong. The sandwich was packed, but I felt like it was a bit small for the price point at $14. The Dutch crunch was good, had a nice chew but the topping is not as sweet as I am used to. However, without any other options for Dutch crunch around, it scratches the itch until I can find myself back in the bay. Definitely worth a try if you have never had Dutch crunch before!!! Or if you are wanting a higher quality sandwich with freshly baked bread.

As others have noted, it is incredibly frustrating to arrive at a perfectly reasonable lunch hour and be told they are out of bread. I guess this is what happens if you lovingly make your own baked goods--this has happened to me at Bernstein's Bagels as well.Today, we arrived early and were able to order. We each got the popular dutch crunch rolls. I got a ham and cheese, my fiance got a vegetarian. The rolls are lovely, very fresh and clearly handmade. Having lived in SF for a long time and eaten many dutch crunch though it didn't bring as much flavor. Everything was fresh and nicely made, it just was kind of blah. Granted, I had just come from the Hot Sauce Expo so maybe my tastebuds were blown out, but I think I'd feel the same anyway. Overall, I'd say the experience also left me kind of cold. You order on screens, and the staff don't interact with anyone. It took kind of a long time for our sandwiches, give how few orders they had. It all felt kinda pretentious without a stellar result. Maybe the hot sandwiches have more flavor?

I got the TBLT and it was decent. Nothing mind blowing. I felt like in general, the food tasted underseasoned? Also it's super expensive. Two sandwiches, one bag of chips and two drinks was $40. Ridiculous for a sandwich spot. Also, we came in at 1pm and they were on their last Dutch crunch roll. Felt like they were underprepared for a Sunday. Service isn't really that nice or attentive. We tried to ask them a question for maybe 2 minutes bit no one bothered to give us any eye contact. It was fine for a meal but I definitely regret spending that much money for what I got

It took me four tries before I got a sandwich at this spot. The first time I came at 2:30 and they were sold out of bread. The second time at 1:30, sold out of bread. The third time at 12:30, sold out of bread. SMH. I couldn't figure out if the sandwiches are that good or they just don't bake enough bread every day. The sandwiches are good, but I still don't get why they don't make more bread - seems like a poor business decision. You can always sell the day old bread in the shop the next day. Anyways, I finally got the Godfather. It's delicious! Decent size and the price is moderate. The flavors all come together so well. I have only tried this sandwich. The fifth time, 12:45...sold out of bread. I was trying to take a friend. This place would be 5 stars if they only had bread. I was so hungry to finally get this sandwich, I took a big bite before the picture. This was a few months back.

That Dutch Crunch bread is a must! Quality meats and healthy portion sizes! I also appreciate the liberal serving size of lettuce because I love the added crunch and texture to my sammie's :) I always grab my order to go and walk across the street to APEX to enjoy with a crisp beer.

There are about 10 Portland sandwich shops I'd send you to before this one. It has a very corporate, impersonal feel; you order from a digital kiosk, no human interaction whatsoever. The sandwiches are fine but way more expensive than they're worth. Go to Taste Tickler up the road or a little further to Lottie and Zula's for a truly excellent local PDX sandwich.

I used to absolutely love this place! A few years ago I would have given this place 5 stars hands down! The food is still good and the people are still kind and welcoming. The issue I have is the portions and prices. Only a year ago, the Godfather sandwich was $12.50...now it's $14?! For a much smaller sandwich than it used to be. Being a huge supporter of neighborhood businesses--it's super disappointing to see them give much smaller sandwiches for almost $2 more. Pricing shot up within not 12 months but 8 months --of continuous price increases and smaller portions. I understand inflation has affected us all but this kind of feels a little greedy. I would understand if the portions stayed the same but smaller just isn't right. I would almost be willing to bet that year for now it'll be $15 for a Subway quality sandwich. For these prices including a tip, would be similar to an actual sit down restaurant where you have a server. My partner and I paid $55 including a tip for lunch At Bakers Mark--where you have to order from a monitor, wait for them to yell your name, you walk back in to get your own food-- most ofThe time without any interaction with an employee, get your own drinks, and bus your own table. Please do better--neighbors depend on well priced food locations in their neighborhood.
