I have been going to Thai Rose's for at least 12 years never had a bad meal I brought countless friends family members guess for lunch or supper Gail is a wonderful cook precise authentic Thai cooking the wait staff is very friendly and seek always to please the customer my favorite meal is very simple and I believe that Gail the owner cares about her freshness of product and presentation my favorite meal is papaya salad medium plus spicy my daughter's favorite meal is parking now and other favorites are the seafood dish with squid. To covid they have been short staffed like many other businesses but Gail has stayed true to for customer and customer base to stay open and to cook even if it's for several people or every table full.

Basic Thai - not great not bad. More like 2.5 stars. Panang Curry with Chicken: the amount of curry is very little since they provide the rice in the same box. The overall flavor was sweet(more) and spicy(less).Beef pad kee mao: the noodles were stuck together in one big lump and the beef was very dry. Lacked spice. Again too sweet for my liking. Seafood combo fried rice: there were squid, scallop in the fried rice. Squid has a texture, I personally feel, that's not suitable for fried rice. It's just rubbery. The scallops are nice and soft.All the dishes were ordered as medium spicy but all of them lacked spice and were sweet instead.

If it's convenient perhaps but there are better Thai places not too far away with far better customer service. My opinion is if you specialize in a specialty cuisine you should perfect and and make sure it's the best and make sure your guests feel welcome. Our experience was overall mediocre at best.

The venue is nice worth a great patio surrounded by the namesake flowers. The server was friendly, and the good came out quickly. Unfortunately the food was just bad- I've had better from the freezer section. The tom yum was insipid and the vegetable chunks in it were more or less raw and chunky enough to make it more of a stew, and the pumpkin curry was so poorly peeled that the pumpkin was crunchy. It was also milder than what my kids eat. At $30 after tip for lunch for 1, I would expect far better.

Had dinner INSIDE Thai Roses as this Thai restaurant has a large indoor dining area and parking lot and thought it would be a nice change from typical take out. Ordered the chicken larb, green curry, and the gai kang (bbq chicken). Portions were incredibly generous with huge amounts to take back home for a second meal. The green curry was particularly delicious and what will bring me back - ordered on a spicy scale of 4 and it was perfection. The best curry I've had in SW Portland.Additionally, the service was truly top notch. Glad to have gone inside and enjoyed the food fresh from the kitchen!
