The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. So much character and amazing ambiance. The roasted cauliflower was so perfectly roasted and crunchy and flavorful. The hummus was insanely smooth. Falafel was so perfectly soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Lentil soup was smooth and delicious. We loved the food and the service was great. Highly recommend.

Came on a Sunday evening. It wasn't busy so we sat down right away. Service was great! We had the chicken breast plate, chicken shawarma plate, and kafta kabob plate. Our favorites were the chicken breast and kafta though everything was delicious! The hummus is also a must order for appetizer because it was AMAZING I could have had just a giant bowl of that for my whole meal. The pita it comes with is also FRESH and hot. The rice they serve the meat with is a little on the sweet side with bites of cinnamon and nutmeg in it but goes well with the salt of the meats. Easy neighborhood parking and super cute street.I'd be back! I don't know why they aren't more busy because its a great place!

We were looking for a late lunch/early dinner on a Sunday before a show and had passed TarBoush on a walk in the neighborhood we were visiting. I was particularly drawn to try them specifically because they were Lebanese, a region of Middle Eastern cooking I have a fondness for. The restaurant is in an old Victorian home, and there was a surprisingly good crowd considering we arrived right when they opened at 4PM.There were so many things on the menu I wanted to try, but since there were only two of us it limited our ordering. If I get a chance to go back, I would definitely try their pumpkin kibbeh. We were in a vegetarian mood, so we didn't try any of their lamb or chicken, which I am guessing are pretty good. We went for a grilled vegetable entree with delicious spiced yellow rice and and tahini sauce. We kicked off with a bountiful fatoush salad that was perfectly dressed with an herby vinaigrette. The vegetarian mezza had all the classics: baba ganouj, hummus, falafel, tabouleh and stuffed grape leaves. The flat bread was fresh out of the oven and fabulous. Fortunately there was enough for a takeaway bag, so I will be enjoying it again tomorrow! Quantity and quality are high at TarBoush. There was on server, who was likely a family member or possibly the owner. I say this because when we packed up our food, he insisted on returning with a small container to pack our tahini sauce, which he wanted us to mix into the generous portion of rice we were taking home. I loved that, and we expressed our appreciation for the great food. If I lived in PDX I would be here on the regular!

I love this place! It's an old Victorian house converted into a restaurant. The owners are the ones serving and bartending. The food is soooo good! They make their pita bread to order. It comes out a piping hot pillow. We got the vegetarian mezze platter, Tarboosh Samboseek, the labne, and artichoke. The mezze is just perfect. The falafel reminded me of the falafel in San Francisco I use to get. The artichoke dish was bit mushy and salty, but really everything else was divine. You might need to ask for your check, but that's not a concern of mine. Seeing the owner work her tail off and the food being great is enough to keep me coming back!

Such a completely charming Lebanese restaurant. The house beckons one in. The music is rich and sends you into a world of a great cultural experience...You can choose to sit outside or in the cozy sections of the house or at a real richly hewn long -wooden bar. The seating outside is under a tent and groups can be accommodated.Arak is the drink to begin with along with a dish of Mediterranean green olives. Our host and waiter was helpful with information and took our order after bringing Arak to sip and olives. We were celebrating a birthday and so we sat at the front window and looked out into a busy street. Our meal was served steaming on large plates. We ate chicken kabobs, walnut crusted salmon, Lebanese basmati rice, grilled vegetables, yogurt , The portions were generous. The music played on . There was baklava to take home when finishing too full. We come here for relaxation, celebration, really good food, and a warm welcoming host and atmosphere. The other person, whom I presume is the cook...may welcome you in as well. A gem !

I got the muhammara with pita bread, mjadara, and lentil soup. Let me start off by saying the positives, their pita bread is probably some of the best pitas I've ever eaten and maybe one of the top overall breads I've had in the recent past. You can tell it's housemade and came out piping hot and fresh out of the oven. It was mostly thick and pillowy with a soft topside and a crunchy bottom side exterior separated by an air bubble in the middle. I would come back just for that bread and would try their hummus. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the rest of their dishes. The muhammara was pretty good but not as good as I've had before, I think they needed to add more walnuts and/or pomegranate molasses, it needed more of something. The rice in the mjadara tasted mushy and stale, like it was leftover. The texture felt older because the lentils were overcooked and mashed/leached onto the granules of rice. The only things saving this dish were the crispy onions and yogurt sauce. The lentil soup was not anything I'd order again. The portions of the muhammara and soup (I got the bigger bowl option vs the cup) were very small for the price. The to go containers they were in, were smaller than 1/2 pint containers and had little to no veggies/meat and my total was $50. (Rice and lentils portion was big) The staff was also quite rude and gave off bad vibes when I politely asked for utensils.
