Taqueria La Nayarita

We were spending time in NE and in search of a new place to eat. La Nayarita was a few blocks away so we went for it after seeing the positive reviews. The parking lot it's located at has ample parking and an outside table. The truck itself looks rough. At least one of the windows is covered with wood. The pictures and some of the menus are faded and difficult to read. Some might be detoured for coming here because of of the outside. DON'T BE. The woman at the counter was helpful and friendly. I placed my order and she told be how long I'd be waiting. We hen the food was ready she called me over and warned me that the red hot sauce was super spicy. We drove home and were eating 20 minutes later. We ordered the carnitas quesadilla and the asada burrito. 1st - the carnitas was spot on! Tender with crispy pieces and great flavor!! The quesadilla was big and fed both my daughters, with some leftovers. The asada burrito was big and also will be some leftovers. The asada meat was tender and had good flavor. The other occupants of the burrito- rice, beans, cheese and cilantro were great! And yes, the red hot sauce it hot! Don't be fooled by the outside, the food is great!

I've been meaning to check this out for like 2 years. Finally did a couple of weeks ago and I've been back like 4 times since. The asada burrito is allllllmost like a mission burrito from the Bay Area. It's even wrapped in foil (not weird hotdog paper like most places in Portland). The burrito wrap isn't quite the same but it's a big burrito. And the asada is cooked to order. The orange sauce is legit hot and I love it. They take cash and card.

This place is amazing! I know the outside doesn't look like much, but the food is mouthwatering!Their tacos are made with handmade tortillas. They added to their menu the quesabirrias. This are by far the best I have tried. Their birria soup is a little bit more on the spicy side but it's still delicious. The burritos are delicious and massive! I think their prices are fair for the quality of the food. The lady is always nice to us. I had been here more then a year ago and she still remembered me. So that made me feel that she cares about her customers. Talking to her, I see she is very grateful to be in business and I'm happy to support her.

Drove by this place a million times and finally decided to stop by and grab tacos. They were fantastic- authentic, great quality meat (I got carnitas and pollo), homemade tortillas and great (but very spicy) homemade hot sauce. Also kindly made my wife a veggie taco off menu and she loved it, especially the beans. Definitely recommended.

Oh man this place is so good. Best carnitas I've had in portland and the ceviche on Saturdays is so god damn good

I like it very much. Pastor = highly recommended. They lied when they said there was no good Mexican food in Portland. One of several trucks that is tasty as tandorski.

Very flavorful. Not greasy. Heavy on raw onions so make sure that's ok with you or say something. So close to home, happy to have in the neighborhood!

This family owned and operated Mexican food cart is out of this world . The mother and daughter combo is very charming . But the food will win you over every time . I've never had anything bad . The simple taco has great flavors and they do carmalized onions that you can eat by them selves . The fish tacos and shrimp are so tasty. The chicken was nice and juicy . This place is my favorite place to eat Mexican food

Ok... I don't review often, but this place needs an explanation. I saw the 5 star reviews and popped in on my way to a work appointment. I almost left because of the exterior (dingy looking), but don't be fooled!! These ingredients are FRESH and flavorful! One of the best carnitas burritos I've had. Owner is also super nice and the food was made quickly.

I'm writing a review to let anyone who is driving or walking by know that the carnitas burrito is one of the best single items on any Mexican restaurant's menu in the Portland area. Comes with chunks of pineapple to go along with barbecued pork and melted cheese. And it's huge. A lot of the time, you need salsa or hot sauce to give food from food trucks flavor, but that is far from the case here.The place is easy to look past. It's located in the parking lot of Urban Kingdon (screen printing shop), but you shouldn't pass it by. It's messy but amazing.
