I recently tried this sushi spot and had mixed feelings. The $28 for a 10-piece nigiri set is a great deal and comes with a bowl of miso! However, the salmon nigiri was a bit fishy, though the salmon maki was much better. The $1 spicy mayo was unexpectedly spicy but tasty. Overall, decent quality for the price with a few quirks.Note that nigiri usually comes with wasabi added, so ask for it on the side if you prefer more control.

This sushi spot is a real hidden gem! The quality of the sushi is amazing, with fresh, pieces that are simply so good. One of the highlights is that you can order by the piece, allowing you to try a variety of flavors without overcommitting. The handrolls are also great. While the calamari appetizer is on the smaller side, it's absolutely to die for it's crispy, tender, and flavorful. Overall, this place offers exceptional sushi that's well worth a visit.

Probably my new favorite sushi restaurant! The building itself is inconspicuously tucked next to a card game shop within a strip mall, but don't let it fool you. All of our food was great and reasonably priced. My partner and I both ordered the $18 omakase nigiri, spicy tuna hand rolls, and split the yellowtail roll. All of the fish tasted super fresh and of all things (maybe surprisingly) the mackerel really stood out. Each cut of fish for the nigiri was generous and seven pieces was quite a bit more filling than other places. Service was exceptional and our food came out super fast! I will definitely be back soon.

Second time here and everything was still delicious. Spider roll had plenty of soft shell crab and the omakase was delicious and fresh. Service was friendly but it took quite a long time to get our food that evening on a Wednesday surprisingly, almost 45 min to get the first two rolls and then the others came shortly after

We discovered Sushi Ki-Ichi on TikTok of all places, and after looking at some reviews, we decided to check it out. We were not disappointed! We ordered Agedashi Tofu, a favorite of ours. It was cooked perfectly, with a crispy breading, a savory broth, and tofu that was just firm enough not to fall apart. For rolls, we got the Nobu Special IQ Roll ($15) and the Scorpion Roll ($15), both of which were absolute bangers. The fish was super fresh and could easily stand alone, but the combination of flavors in each roll highlighted the components and elevated them to a new level. The service was quick and all the staff was really kind and attentive. It was busy (we went at dinner time on a Saturday), but we never felt rushed. We're looking forward to coming back and trying other things. This might be our new favorite sushi spot in the Portland area!

Probably one of the best sushi places I've tried in a long time! We tried the Nobu special which was made with toro and salmon toro and it was so fatty and delicious! The fish is so fresh and prices are extremely reasonable for the quality.A bit on the spendy side, but it was still good!

Common corner joint for the neighborhood. The vibe is cozy but dated decor.Traditional sushi, good cuts of sashimi.Nothing on draft, usual sake selection; a bit pricey.Cordial & kind service through the meal.

Wow! Just wow! I did not expect to find such quality near me. I simply searched "sushi near me" because my friend and I wanted to eat something light and easy, but little did we know that this would become one of my new favorite spots!The service staff were kind and accommodating. We showed up to the restaurant on a busy Saturday night with no reservation, but they seemed to make an effort to get us right in despite the fact the place was very packed.These menus are HUGE, not just in what's on it, but also in size (perfect for seeing impaired, we joked). I typically like to compare price vs quality/quantity of food, but this place skirts by that by being such good quality that I simply don't care that this is slightly on the spendier side of things. The nigiri we ordered (eel, seared salmon, salmon, yellowtail, bluefin tuna) was fresh and melts like a delicious fishy butter. Most places like to serve eel drenched in some sort of barbecue sauce, but not this place, which let's the tenderness and flavor of the eel stand on its own. The rest were superb.My friend ordered the Alaskan Roll, which consisted of salmon, avocado, real crab, shrimp, flying fish roe, salmon roe. I ordered the Hokkai Roll, which was tuna, salmon, real crab, flying fish roe, salmon roe, scallop, shiso (perilla). This might've been my favorite roll I've had. Rarely do I ever see real crab and scallops on a sushi menu, so I was extremely surprised and extremely pleased.Topped off all of that with some salty, warming, miso soup, and we had an amazing meal that we did not expect to have. We were in the mindset of getting something easy, a conveyor belt restaurant even, but Sushi Ki-ichi turned out to be such a great choice. I will definitely be coming back here many many many times more.

[ food ]: 10/10 - I was extremely excited to try this restaurant out and it did not disappoint! My partner and I each ordered the $50 omakase and it gave a wide range of variety that we were looking for. I'd definitely suggest this for those people that are just wanting to try a little of everything, none of the pieces of sushi were too complicated and intimidating, in short, it was simple and classy. My favorites were the salmon, which had no fishy taste, was almost buttery and was just extremely rich. The uni also was very fresh, with a creamy consistency. I was really impressed with the fresh scallops as well, although I did think the lemon was a tad over powering so I'd suggest cutting it in half to really get the flavor of the scallops to come through. The creamy scallops were great! Usually sushi restaurants put too much mayo and it overall masks the texture and taste of the scallops but I was pleasantly surprised to find these had good balance![ service ]: 10/10 - Staff was really accommodating and pleasant. Always checking in on the food and making sure our waters were filled.[ ambiance ]: 8/10 - I was super surprised how well the layout of the restaurant was set up. Previously, there was a chinese buffet there which had an okay flow, but between the decor and cleanliness of this restaurant now, my expectations were exceeded drastically!{Tip: I'd suggest calling in to reserve a table about half an hour before arriving to ensure that you quickly get seated, this place is definitely gaining popularity, and for good reason}

I consider myself a sushi snob, so I am always look for the best sushi spots that have great quality and won't break the bank. Sushi Ki-Ichiban exceeded my expectations. You're getting high quality cuts of fish that have great fish to rice ratio for astounding price. You'd expect to pay double at nicer establishments. The hand rolls were also awesome deals and weren't overly stuffed with rice. Service was good. This would be my go to sushi joint if I lived in Portland.
