First time here. Very unassuming place. The sandwich was pretty good, it was just too bready. It smelled really good inside, so i think I'll come back and try a rice bowl. Maybe I'll have better luck.

I started going to this sub shop about 15 years ago when I worked in the neighborhood. I don't go super often these days, but they're still churning out consistently good beef teriyaki subs. The same couple has owned and operated forever. I have never had an issue with them, but you come to this place for subs, not customer service, so keep that in mind. Oh, you also don't come here for ambiance.I'm so glad that this place has held on as things get built up around it. Prices have gone up over time, obviously, but still absolutely reasonable and quality has not faltered. I hope they are able to keep it going for a long time.

There food is amazing, the teriyaki beef sub is amazing sooooo good..however they did change their hours and did not update their websites, drove there from Vancouver Washington arrived at 7:27pm and the doors were locked and the man inside just shook his head. Oops I'll go again tomorrow...yes they are that good!

Original owner is still there! His wife wasn't there last few visits and it seems like he has become more nice lol didn't matter tho I still returned!!! I've gotten kicked out on several occasions over my life as a child to adult telling him to be nice to his wife and every time I go back bcus the sandwiches are fire and every time he makes my sandwiches bcus I'm sure I'm not the first to tell him he is mean!! I hope this place never closes I asked him if he was gonna retire he said no so I said ok what happens when you die he said the sub shop will close I hope he lives forever!!

Been going there for over 35 yrs! I walk in and they already know my order! Best place to eat!

The opinions in this review are not new but after giving them chance after chance, I've decided to go ahead and voice them. Used to be one of my favorite spots to eat as a kid. Somewhat of a Portland staple. It's now just a shell of its former self.- The bread is always hard. Clearly no passion or concern for the quality of their own products.- Almost always skimps on the meat. The man there is notorious for this and this seems to be known by many customers. Tons of hard bread with a small amount of meat. Who wants that?All it takes is the regular stocking of fresh bread and giving a proportionate amount of toppings and this can be saved. I don't experience these issues at chains like Subway, Jersey Mike's, or Jimmy John's, and they likely became the chains that they are for good reason.

Yum. Been going for 20+ years now. Same owners same deliciousness at reasonable price.

Best beef teriyaki sub sandwiches in Portland. Ran by the owners, both very nice people. The building is old, but don't let that fool. Great place with a good variety of sandwiches and rice dishes will come back often.

They're fast and reliable. Every order has been incredible and it keeps you coming back! Highly recommended!It's cozy and has been around for decades. A coworker shared her teriyaki sub with me one time, I was instantly hooked. It was a done deal for me! Warm and fresh every time.
