This place is such a vibe. It's near downtown area, walking distance to many shops and restaurants. The streets were closed so plenty of space to walk with your pups. If you're thinking Chowder, you're head is in the right place, that dish did not disappoint. They have a solid selection for beer/wine. Service was great, he recommended the best beer for my clam chowder Strongly recommend their salmon, plate was worth the price.Blackened salmon was also

We were in town and had a hankering for oysters, so when I found this place on Yelp, we decided to head out right away to eat as much as we could given how tasty the menu seemed and how good the reviews were.Warnings, for those who may not have read the menu or the info. posted here:1. There is a 20% gratuity added, no additional tip needed. (From their website and on their menus & receipts): A 20% service charge is added to all guest checks to be shared with our entire hourly staff. Please alert a manager if your experience is less than great. No additional gratuity is expected.2. (From their website & on their menus:) Credit Card payments will incur a 2.5% surcharge to pay for the credit card processing fee. This surcharge is being used to offset cost of living increases for our staff rather than increasing menu prices. There is no fee when paying by debit card or in cash.Funnily enough, even though we got here around 6 p.m. (PST) on a Tuesday, the entire restaurant was busy with geriatrics for a concert happening across the street, so we did have to wait about 10-15 minutes until a patio seat opened up. Thankfully, despite it being a drizzly late afternoon/evening by the time we were seated, we were under an awning, sheilded from any rain, and with wall heaters to keep us warm as it got colder.Once we were seated, menus and waters were quickly dispatched by our lovely server, and drink orders taken within moments. The gratis bread basket was so welcome and fresh! What we got:- Clam chowder: Braised bacon, gnocchi. $10.00/cup (or $20.00/bowl)We got the cup - perfect serving for 2 people when coupled with the other dishes we ordered. It was perfectly warm and when you add some black pepper to it, it soothed your soul and stomach immediately on a chilly evening. The gnocchi was so soft and the bacon was braised perfectly to compliment the clams and chowder.Mouthwatering and I almost got another cup, but we had so much more to eat.- Dozen raw oysters: Chef's choice of Pacific Northwest oysters, horseradish, mignonette. $44 (per dozen)My partner and I both agreed that we had never had such divine oysters - they were buttery, melt-y, brine-y, and overall delicious. Every one of the dozen. So much so that we got two rounds of the dozen of them.I still think about them from time to time and cannot wait to have some more equally delicious oysters where I am; when I come back to Portland, I'm going to make sure I get 2 dozen oysters just for myself next time.- Manila clams: White wine, garlic, chile flake. $26.00There were so many clams; almost a never-ending supply of them in a bowl and it just wouldn't stop. And they were all good - be sure to drip it in the tart-y/sour-ish white wine, garlic, and chilli flake sauce to make it a memorable meal altogether. Perfectly cooked, all easy to open and spoon out clams.- Dungeness crab roll: Lobster aioli, celery, lemon, buttered roll. $21.00That lemon piece they gave complimented the soft yet crispy buttered crab roll so well; I almost - almost! - ordered an additional roll to split just because of how much we'd ordered. It was fresh, juicy, with ginormous portions of dungeness crab - they did not scrimp. And that aioli was so well-made. Definitely worth an order too!- Sweet corn cheesecake: Blueberry thyme coulis, corn cookie crumble, blueberry sorbet. $13.00Very interesting concept; not too sweet, very subtle sweet corn flavour, but still too sweet for my taste.Ultimately, not something could recommend - and I love unique cheesecake flavours, with Basque cheesecake being my favourite.- Port tawny (dessert wine): P Kopke 10 year. $8.50Love a good port tawny and it did go very well with the cheesecake, making it more palatable for me, but I also just love a good port tawny, so that could have easily been my bias showing there. The one star off is due to the fact that I personally don't think any gratuity should be forced upon the customer, nor should credit card fees (part of doing business) be passed on us. If restaurants included the cost of paying their employees in their menus so they wouldn't have to subsist on tips, that would be lovely and actually indicative of an establishment that paid their employees fairly. It seemed wheelchair accesible with accessible doors and seating.I can't speak to the parking situation, but it seems tight, given it's Portland; walk over here - it's worth a lovely stroll both before and after filling your stomachs up!

Great service from the moment we walked in. Read the menu/posted info people. Yes, there is a 20% gratuity added, no additional tip needed. Yes, there is also a small fee for credit card use. People need to stop giving unfair reviews because they aren't paying attention to the information provided (in more than one place). The food: my shrimp and grits were delicious, the cheese board options were good, the Brussels sprouts lacked a little flavor the gochujang wasn't detectable to me. Big and airy space, window seats good for watching everything going on outside. It's the park blocks, parking can be tough. They have indoor & outside seating. Huge menu for wine and spirits.

I have never in my life had such incredible oysters. They were buttery and delicious, and I wish I could live in that moment forever! The halibut was also incredible, with the lime crema being a top-notch pairing. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the sturgeon, and the mushrooms that accompanied his dish were super tasty. Dessert was the sweet corn cheesecake, which was surprisingly tangy (I know cheesecake tends to be tangy ) with a blueberry sauce and sorbet. The portions were on the smaller side, but it was nice to leave satiated and not stuffed. The volume inside was perfectly suited for conversation without having to raise our voice, which made for a wonderfully romantic evening.

Back in the PNW, we made a point to return to Southpark Seafood in downtown Portland. After visiting back in 2022 and having one of the most incredible meals, we came back for round two. It did not disappoint. We arrived without a reservation early-ish on a Friday night and were seated quickly. It was busy with only a few tables free, yet there was no issue with availability. The service, food, and ambiance continue to be outstanding, even two years later. However, on this visit, we skipped cocktails and went straight for the food. After the simple yet delicious complimentary bread course served with a tasty salted butter, we got both the Dungeness Crab Roll and the large portion of the mixed greens salad to start. For mains, we got the grilled swordfish and halibut, and finished off the meal with the taramisu gelato. While our favorite dessert, the German Chocolate Cake, is not currently on the menu - everything we tried was flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The portion size on the taramisu gelato was a bit on the smaller side, but the taste of taramisu was fully present and balanced with the espresso and small cookies. Always a local favorite for us, we'll continue to make Southpark Seafood a priority when visiting the PDX.

My husband has lately decided he loves oysters. So recently I found Southpark as a must try. We made reservations, though, to be seen if they were needed. We were seated at the oyster bar. Menus, waters were quickly dispatched and drink orders taken. Incoming bread basket, yes! Next up? Decision time. We ordered the Chilled Seafood Feast & a cup of chowder. Chowder was beyond hearty. Claims, gnocchi and bacon. So good. The feast was also very good. We just realized, for the price, we'd sacrifice the shrimp for more oysters. And we got another amazing half dozen. We will be back for the rest of the menu!

We came here to celebrate my and my friend's 40th birthdays! It was a nice surprise to be sat down with a welcoming birthday card from the restaurant. The food and service was excellent. The chowder is out of this world and the bread is amazing as well. We had the sturgeon, swordfish, shrimp and grits, and the crab sandwich. We also ordered the brussel sprouts and the Caesar. Everything was very good! I highly recommend this place for a nice seafood meal.

Southpark Seafood exceeded my expectations on almost every level. The interior has an elevated feel and it's pretty cool to see all the fresh oysters on ice when you first walk in. Our server was friendly and very attentive. The fish and chips were delicious. The batter was seasoned and the coleslaw was completely different than any I've ever had. The portion was also pretty big. The only thing I didn't like was that they charge an automatic 20% gratuity and an additional percentage to use a debit or credit card. Personally I don't think gratuity should be forced and credit card fees are a part of doing business and shouldn't be passed on to the customer.

The Dungeness Crab Roll was fresh and refreshing. I'm normally not into fries, but the waiter recommended them and they were great. The waiter was rude when we asked to split the check and said something about how we didn't ask at the beginning. There was also gratuity and a charge for using a credit card. The place was on a corner so it was bright in there.
