Slim's offers affordability and quality. That said, the interior says dive bar all day but it's been around for over 100 years! So if you're looking for cheap drinks and a chill ambiance in the St. John's area, this is the place to be.

Old school dive with fast bar food. Good for a bar burger. Quick service. If you're in Nopo/St. John's and just want a simple OG dive bar that's not actually seedy or scary this is it. Safe for single females, lgbtq friendly.

Food is so good here normally. Their "spicy" tater tots are so nasty. Way too salty and not spicy at all. Hope they change their spices soon.

Slim's Blue Steak is the best secret in N. PDX, and the best meal in this whole area! They're open late, it's $11.95 and the chef (can't call him a cook when the food is this good) cooks this steak to a perfect medium rare. Even the side salad is delicious, with a homemade dressing. Worth it in every way.

Oldest bar in St. John's I think. Good good and prices. I recommend it to lots of people. I work by the place and send people there often. Island time feeling and order food at the bar. Love this place. Great ambiance for a real St. John's feeling.

The food is amazing for the price. If you're a stickler about how your steak is made I suggest ordering it a little more raw then you actually want though. Staff is friendly. I wouldn't say this is a hang out spot as much as a date spot or somewhere to eat but most of the customers are friendly and seem like regulars.

Everything about this place is great!! The food is so good and freshly made, great drinks, kind and quick service! They have pool and several pinball machines. Outdoor seating is nice, covered. Super affordable !

This place sucks in the perfect dive bar way. I love it. Too often in Portland, and the west coast in general, bars (even divey ones) seem to be doing an impression of a bar. They so often feel like movie sets depicting what a dive bar should be. This place isn't like the Vern or the Sandy hut; it's not doing a vacant imitation of a dive bar for the vacant imitations of people that like to go there. This place is the real deal. A St. John's institution.

Shitty customer service horrifying male service I do not recommend this place after the way I was treated I was going to buy food or buy dinner but after they after the way they treated me which was really bad I decided not to order food because of the way they treated me so the impression I got is they were pissed off at me and they didn't like me so I will never go back to this place ever again bartender instead of simple syrup into my lemon drop and the guy was like really rude and I got the impression they had like targeted me because for whatever reason I don't know but I don't feel safe enough to even eat there to be honest with you that's just me personally but I was going to buy food but after the way they treated me I thought f*** no I'm not going back there f*** no you f*** you aw f*** no
