I'm so glad that Sho is open again. After a five month storm damage repair, it's newly rebuilt in a beautiful minimalist style. Katsu is as welcoming as ever. It's like going to a friend's house more than a restaurant,...if your friend is an awesome cook! The menu still contains great sushi options, but also has more of an izakaya flavor. It's great! Lots of Japanese comfort food, in addition to a complete bar, and real deal sushi chefs. I love sitting at the sushi bar and watching them work. This is a legitimate Japanese restaurant, which would fit in on Honshu as well as it does in our neighborhood.

I had lunch here with my wife, excited to try a newly reopened Japanese restaurant.Their Vegetable Tempura had a thicker batter than most authentic Japanese restaurants. That was not necessarily a bad thing because I still enjoyed it, especially the Japanese pepper, which I've never had in tempura before. Half of the 6 pieces or so were Japanese sweet potato, which I did enjoy, though would have preferred a greater variety including traditional veggies like carrots, asparagus, kabocha... Their vegan sushi roll was good but far from outstanding. There was a lot more rice than veggies. It was somewhat dry and appeared to have been hastily prepared. The service was average to slow, considering there were only a few other couples there at the time. The dining areas and bathrooms were all very clean and obviously newly remodeled. There was no hot water in the men's room. One vegan roll, 2 vegan tempura, one fried rice ball and one ice tea came to almost $50 including tip.I have nothing bad to say about Sho but unfortunately nothing particularly outstanding either. There was just nothing about them that would inspire me to return.

My husband and I were in the neighborhood and tried Sho for lunch for our first visit. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great. The restaurant itself is beautiful: spacious, clean and nicely appointed. The bathroom was very nice! I just wish the food was better! I ordered the veggie tempura and a yaki onigiri. The tempura wasn't hot, the batter was thick and although crunchy, it didn't have the lightness and airiness of a good tempura. It had a distinctive oily taste. It looked like a batter for fish n chips vs tempura. The yaki onigiri was average, I had to ask for it to be brought to the table to eat with the tempura. The service was just ok, not particularly attentive considering the place was not busy.Overall, this is an average Japanese restaurant and I doubt we will be returning.

After being closed for the beginning of 2024 due to storm damage that led to a renovation, Sho is open again and while the restaurant looks refreshed and somewhat brighter, the food remains consistent and in a very good way! We enjoyed karaage, tan tan ramen, and the chef's choice of sushi. The sushi was so fresh and because they were full, we sat at the sushi bar. So happy we did! We conversed with the younger sushi chef who hailed from Hawaii like we did. He was very friendly and very skilled. All in all, the dinner was both entertaining and delicious! Oh, try the fruit parfait. It's new and surprisingly very good! Not too sweet and full of surprises! (Of note, the food and conversation was so good, I forgot to take photos)

The sushi both sashimi and nigiri was cut so thin and so expensive. The slices were less than 2mm thick. Very disappointed. Went here last month and things were much better. Will not be going back.A bottle of sake that retails for $13 , they sold for $60.

Sho turned out to be a delightful place to meet up with a friend for a refined, delightful lunch. I had the chicken katsu bento box, which was everything I hoped for, plus it came with something I've never run into before - a light potato salad that I really enjoyed.Access to the parking lot can be a bit tricky, depending on traffic. Fortunately, you can get into the lot on either the east or west side of the building - the west entrance is farther from the intersection, so there's less likelihood of being blocked by eastbound traffic waiting for the light. The other access issue that I encountered was that the restaurant's web site is blocked by my security software. Not sure why, but checking the menu before my visit was a challenge. The atmosphere at Sho was also just what I wanted - quiet and calming. I find that this really adds to my enjoyment of a meal.

We've been customers here since the days they were called KOJI. We moved so we don't go as much, but went last night to support after a shutdown for renovations from storm damage. The atmosphere was great!! It made me so happy to see this place thrive. The kitchen was hustling, guests having drinks and sushi at the bar while watching the olympics. I felt it immediately. Sho is back better than ever!! We got a table within 5 minutes.. this was 6pm on a Saturday night! The hostess/waitress was friendly and attentive to our "special" asks. There are changes to the menu, but still cater a wide range of Japanese favorites. The whisky/sake flights are a big win, plus cocktails are creative with Japanese twists. Nothing beats having sashimi/sushi with a nice concoction of spirits.Congratulations to the owner and team Sho! We'll be back for sure.

If it's said to be owned by a Japanese person, it's definitely not believable. The staff are lazy and prioritize their own tasks over waiting customers. The food and quality were also not great. Parking is free.
