My partner and I had a wonderful dinner at Shalom Y'all in Portland's warehouse district. Although we didn't realize we needed a reservation, the hostess was incredibly accommodating, adjusting the seating chart to fit us in that evening. The restaurant's upscale, industrial vibe added to the overall atmosphere, making it feel both trendy and cozy.We ordered a variety of dishes, including the pickled vegetables, farm green salad, Turkish baked hummus, falafel, charred cabbage skewer, and chicken shawarma. Every dish was flavorful and fresh, but the Turkish baked hummus was the star of the meal--whipped to a light, creamy perfection with a texture reminiscent of mashed potatoes. There was a small delay with one of our dishes, but the staff handled it professionally and ensured we were well taken care of. To top off the night, they even gave us a sea salt tahini chocolate chip cookie to go, which was hands-down the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had (and I've had plenty!).

My wife made me begrudgingly come here. I had mid-range expectations since all Mediterranean restaurants generally taste about the same. This place is different. It's super-fresh and has a welcome spin on old classics like chicken shwarma, hummus, and even french fries. The waiter was amazing. Attentive and helpful he helped guide our choices and elevated the experience. My wife and I started with drinks. My Old Fashioned was very nicely made (though no Luxardo cherry was a bit of an oversight). We then shared a sheep's milk lightly fried cheese that was very good but not great. The lemon zest fries came out, and there wasn't enough zest to notice. The sauces kept things interesting: a beet ketchup adjacent to a horseradish sauce made mixing and experimenting with the flavors enjoyable. The lamb hummus was a real treat. You won't find anything like it anywhere else. The pita that comes with was obviously fresh out of the oven, and is one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. The show-stopper was the shwarma. It comes out heaped on an plate and makes an impression from the time it's set on the table. The taste and texture doesn't disappoint. The pickled peppers gives it a new dimension. This is not the shwarma from your local gyro slinging food truck.Thankfully, the room wasn't too loud, but had nice background music, so we were able to have nice evening out.The price was very reasonable given the quality and quantity of food. This is a must go-to if visiting Portland.

Hands down the most creative Mediterranean food I ever had. This is my new favorite place and if you have not tried them already, prepared to be blown away. Upscale food, service and ambience for those cozy nights or a quick healthy run of a meal after a hike. I wasn't dressed to be here, as I visited them right after my hike. But the server was kind and helped us navigate the menu. His suggestions were on point to have the best first experience.I want to go back and I will to try everything I can.

Fantastic server. The food was good but missed on a few levels to be great. The olives were delicious and the falafel was moist and flavorful. The hummus was good but overpowered by the olive oil.

Solid cocktails and vibes. Food is decent but there are better Mediterranean spots in Portland. FOODWe gotten classic assortment of dishes. The chicken shawarma was pretty decent. The chicken was cooked well but it was a bit bland. It also came with a pita! The lamb carnitas was extremely salty. I think it may have been seasoned to that level to cover the potential gamey-ness of the lamb. I honestly wished they put some of the seasonings in the lamb and put it on the chicken to balance it out. The star of the show is hands down the hummus. WOW it was mind blowing. This appetizer ticked all the boxes for us. The creaminess of the hummus and the crunchiness of the fried chick peas brought new textures that I have never experienced. Highly recommend this dish. SERVICEThe food here is pretty okay. The service is what made this restaurant a 4 star restaurant. Our waiter was tentative and helpful. Overall the restaurant has a very chill and friendly vibe. ALL IN ALL, solid restaurant for Mediterranean food. I had better ones in Portland, but you can't really beat the vibe and friendliness of the staff. Side note: the restaurant charge additional 3% to provide employee benefits.

Just deliciousness. Their baba ghanoush and potato dip is so good. Their pita is magically light and fluffy. Lamb chops were also great and they cook it to your preferred cook level. The restaurant is a little loud and can get packed even on a Sunday afternoon. It's pretty popular and with good reason.

Seriously some of the best Mediterranean I've ever had! The hummus and bread was absolutely incredible! Unbelievably good! We also got the lamb and this had to be the best lamb I've had in a long time! I wish I didn't share it with my fiancé! To end our meal we shared the chicken shawarma, which was also amazing! Very nice ambiance. Would come back for lunch or an easy dinner if I lived In Portland.

Every thing we tried was amazing. We loved the food. The waitstaff was friendly and helped us navigate the new experience. We truly loved eating here. The restaurant is loud, and the seating is close -- not my favorite thing. Also, the tables for two are small when you order multiple dishes to share. But in spite of it, yum. I would recommend giving out paper napkins along with the awesome kitchen towel napkins, because the food is finger-licking drippy with delicious oil, and the towels are too beautiful to want to sop it up with them.

I got the Shalom Y'all Plate with falafel, hummus (subbed labneh for more hummus), chopped beets, and pita. The falafel was rich and flavorful - I wish I had ordered more. The beets were good but not necessarily a standout. The pita was super pillowy/fluffy... I think I could have gone crazy on just hummus and pita. I appreciated the simplicity and quality of the plate, although I don't think it was super filling... But I would order it again.A standout was the broccolini... please pour the sauce in my mouth; it was really good. Also had the mejadara which was good and a bit more filling than the other things I ordered, but it wasn't anything too crazy.Overall, I would recommend Shalom Yall because of its easy-to-enjoy mediterranean food, cozy atmosphere (location on Alder next to 1927), and prompt & attentive service. My only criticism is I wish they gave a little bit more food on some of the dishes, especially given the price.
