I think if I could only eat one meal for the rest of my life, it would be hot pot here. We came in on a Sunday around 6 PM. There were several people lined up inside and outside, with lots of seating to wait. We put our information in on the iPad, noting that there were 6 groups ahead of us but we were the only table for 2. We were seated within ten minutes! We ordered the two broths ($15), Tom yum and Chongqing numbing spicy! The spicy broth came in three levels (mild, little bit, and extreme). We got the little and felt it was perfect. We're a bit wimpy with spice but you could both taste how great the broth was AND feel the spice. We felt the tom yum lacked depth, but you could really taste it in the aftertaste. The golden beef ($50) was a great idea. It was filling enough for two and the wagyu alone made it worthwhile. It was so tender! We grabbed veggies & sauces from the salad bar ($3 each). Everything was fresh and tasted amazing. So although it wasn't AYCE, the portions were quite large and we ended up paying $120 for the both of us. And you get free ice cream!! The service was so great! They checked in on us regularly to make sure the soup was bubbling and the food was good. They let us take the broth home too so I guess we're having more hot pot :)Overall, glad to have more hot pot options closer to home. They are pricey but I think it was worth it for the quality and service.

I'll give this place 3.5 stars and round up to put a positive spin on it bc lord help us in these trying timesLeft feeling full for the $50 spent on- beef - shrooms - bok choy - dumplings - endless diy sauce bar that also has pickled daikon and spicy cuke salad and some other things for those more adventurous than me And two brothsAnd two free ice creams in the way out (which we haven't eaten yet and are excluded from this review)Mushroom broth was pretty umamiTom yum broth was like the LaCroix of tom yum -- and essence of the flavor but fell really short on the tangy/salty sour elements. Would not get that one again.Because of the size of the broth heating unit, and the utility tray shelving unit thing (?) on the table, it's hard to share utensils and you will be kinda awkwardly seated far away from your dining partner. Also the ventilation could be better; the steam is immediately noticeable and the smell will linger in your clothes. Ladies and gents do not go with fresh washed hair!

Heard about Seventeen Hot Pot through social media and friends! Love that the Asian food scene is growing in Portland. Reservations are available, and everyone needs to show up before being seated. We got seated pretty quickly with a reservation, which I recommend given how packed the restaurant was. Lots of free parking nearby.Broths are tasty and the meat was beautifully marbled. The unlimited sauce/appetizer bar came at an extra cost, but was pretty fresh and comprehensive. It had everything I would want in a hotpot sauce. Love that they have little sauce recipes on the wall as well. Food was served on long trays and there wasn't much room between tables... So it became a bit awkward to eat. There were some shelves next to the table to store plates however. Prices were based on cut of meat (not AYCE), but isn't bad when split up amongst the group. -1 for having no AC and borderline dangerously slippery floors. Not my favorite hotpot place, but not bad overall.

I had a great experience dining here! Now that it's cold enough outside, it's a great time to get some hotpot. We came on a weeknight and were seated right away, about half the tables were full. You can choose up to 4 soup broths and as many meats/veggies/noodles and side dishes as you like. There's also a sauce bar that you can take not only sauces but some appetizers and fruits and desserts as well. We were impressed with the service and quality of the food. Everything we ate was fresh and delicious. The servers came by our table many times to fill our water cups or assist with the hotpot experience. Although we were completely stuffed by the end, they did offer complimentary ice cream or popsicles, which was so nice of them.

Amazing food but I wish it was all you can eat. Fast service but they don't exactly remember to fill your water. Great atmosphere but too small of a place.

I love hotpot and this place is great. We ordered so many thinhs and the one that stood out was Wagyu beef platter. Very different cuts were served on this platter and is enough for four people along with other things. We ordered spicy szcechuan broth and a mild broth. The ambiance is ok, the tables are kind of crowded and the seats are kind of low. A bit awkward seating but the food is great. You can spend hours with your friends and family at the table. I would go once again to try some more meats and veggies.

Been looking forward to trying this place since they opened! The staff were super nice and helpful. We got the lunch special hot pot combo for $23.99/person and it was more than enough food for each of us. Came also with unlimited access to the sauce and salad bar! Everything was fresh and delicious and the food came out really quickly. We were so full we took some of our broth and our noodles home and were able to eat the rest for dinner! Can't wait to go back!

I came in for lunch with a friend and we both got their lunch special which included a broth, one protein, six veggies, a carb, and salad sauce bar. The restaurant was super clean and easy to navigate around. It wasn't busy for weekday lunch. The sauce bar was super clean, had a lot of ingredients to make your delicious dipping sauce. There were recipes on the wall to help you make sauces too if you don't know where to start. The sauce bar also had coconut tapioca, fruits, and brown sugar jelly (I must admit I had 2 bowls of this and 2 bowls of the coconut tapioca) for a little sweet treat at the end. There was also a mini freezer with complimentary ice cream which was much needed. Beware the soups are very spicy. I felt like I could breathe fire with the vegetarian Tom yum broth, but it was very flavorful. It's perfect for a cold day or if you're feeling under the weather. My friend got the mild spicy soup and it was far too spicy. The server was very kind to help skim out some of the chili oil and add broth to help. The lunch special comes with a good serving of meat. The vegetables were very fresh. I highly recommend getting the handmade noodles. I initially thought the special itself didn't have a lot of food, but I didn't get a chance to finish, I was so full. Overall, it was a fun experience. I would definitely go back.

I've never had hot pot before so this was my first experience. The staff was very friendly and explained everything to us. The broth was excellent We got the one that had marrow in it and the other one was more like a Tom Yum.We ordered a bunch of different meats, and some tofu The buffet bar is quite cheap and we got a bunch of different sauces from there and the deserts. They were also fantastic. You've gotta watch how much meat you order it starts to get expensive.Definitely going back someday
