Screen Door is our absolute favorite brunch place!! We bring all of our out-of-town guests here and they all enjoy it!There's always a wait time but we usually never wait longer than what we've been told. I'm always impressed at how quick we get seated.Honestly, anything you order will be delicious! The Sawmill Breakfast is usually a top choice for me, among others. This particular visit, I ordered the Blueberry Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and while I absolutely loved them(!) I wish there's something more with it. Some sort of savory dish, like eggs and bacon. I'd give them a 6/10.The Pulled Pork Benedicts were 10/10!!!!! It's probably going to be a usual soon! They typically come with potatoes but my partner decided to ask for fries instead and it was *chef's kiss*. If you enjoy breakfast and pulled pork, I strongly suggest trying this!Their staff is also super nice and extremely helpful when asking questions! I always enjoy going here and don't think there will be any brunch place that'll take its place any time soon!

10/10 One of the best breakfast spots I've had. There was a wait time, but definitely worth it. The ambiance is very homey and southern inspired. Ordered a cold brew and the fried chicken & biscuits with buttermilk biscuit and breakfast potatoes. The fried chicken breast was very juicy and not dry by any means. The gravy was full of flavor and perfection. The buttermilk biscuits were freshly made and just delicious with butter. The breakfast potatoes were so well done. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They seating was on point for the potatoes. The cold brew was just ok. Nothing out of the ordinary. They make their own hot sauce which was just as good as everything because it wasn't overly vinegary like most hot sauces. If you're looking for a breakfast spot, definitely try this out.

We can hear for a celebration and made reservations ahead of time. It was my first time here but I've heard a lot about Screen Door. The building is gorgeous and clean, nice part of downtown Portland. There's parking garages to park at, street parking (a bit harder to find), public transit as well. Staff were wonderful. We ordered a couple appetizers, some non alcoholic drinks, and entrees. For four of us, this was more than enough food. We shared it family style and had leftovers too.For appetizers we got the crispy fried oysters, fried green tomatoes and blistered shishito peppers. For the hot plates/entrees we got the New Orleans Red Beans & Rice with Crispy Fried Chicken, Fried Chicken Dinner and Memphis Style BBQ Ribs Half Rack. For the drink, I got the Violet Beauregarde which had lemon, grapefruit, orange, rosemary simple and butterfly rosemary pea tea. Pretty refreshing. It's also nice to see they have zero proof drink offerings as well.About the appetizers we had, everything was good, loved the fried oysters with the tartar sauce. The oysters were very crispy a with a cornmeal crust. The blistered shishito peppers had some pickled shallots, chile threads and garlic chips with an aioli. I don't see much fried green tomatoes on menus in Portland metro area so had to get those. It was fried nicely, with a nice dipping sauce. For entrees, u know they are known for their famous chicken & waffles but we just weren't feeling waffles for dinner. Their fried chicken was delicious, juicy and moist and boneless too. The fried chicken dinner came with two big pieces of chicken, with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy and we picked the collard greens. The red beans and rice were out of this world, probably our favorite dish of the night. The red beans had some pork stewed with it, then mixing it with the chow chow which had some acid, and the fried chicken was so wonderful. This came with some delicious cornbread as well - which had a jalapeño honey butter to accompany it. The Memphis style bbq ribs were also delicious, they were so tender, juicy and pretty much fall off the bone. We liked their baked beans, coleslaw, homemade pickles and cornbread. For all of the dishes, the portions are big. We weren't expecting it to be so big, but they are generous. Definitely recommend visiting here!

If you're wanting great southern food this is a place to check out if you're visiting Portland. It can be busy but it is worth the wait! Amazing location so exploring around is something to do while you wait. Eating either inside or outside is a good experience if you're eating here during the day. Their menu offers plenty of great dishes to try from either from appetizers or entrees. Try the Praline Bacon and Cheesy Grits both are really delicious if you are into savory foods.

I am in Portland for a conference and decided to look for Southern-style food spots. First, the restaurant space is nice and cute, where you can also read as you eat as well. The service was quick and professional as the waiters were attentive to get my order on a timely manner. As for the food, it was really filling, but I think the fried chicken could have used more seasoning. Overall, great service, and I'll come back again.

Gem in Portland's Pearl District This Delicious breakfast spot has something for everyone. The banana's foster French toast was so delicious and comforting. I was afraid it was going to be too sweet. However, it had a perfect amount of sweetness. The homemade whipped cream dusted with cinnamon was extremely satisfying. The praline bacon was a perfect sweet and savory companion to the banana's foster French toast. My espresso martini was fantastic. The chicken and waffles were divine as well. The three pieces of chicken were seasoned wonderfully and fried to perfection. The warm Cinnabon was decadent and not overly sweet. The service was great and the soaring ceilings and decor had upscale vibes.

First time at the Pearl location, been to the one on SE Burnside countless times. The wait time to be acknowledged and dropping of the bill was very long, and there was no asking if I needed anything. Waaa, waaa, first world problems I know. The Migas tart with ample side salad was worthy, I'd order it again.

A nice Southern meal in the Pearl District! Came on a weekday and was able to get a seat outside right away. I found that the outside area was nice since it was a little bit stuffy inside.I ordered the chicken fried steak with the pork sausage gravy. When it arrived, the food was lukewarm at best -- I think it was sitting out a bit compared to my friend's dishes? The fry on the steak was good! Not too oily and had a good amount of crunch. The pork gravy was a bit one dimensional though. I kind of wish I got the mushroom gravy instead. Eggs and potatoes were also nicely seasoned.Nothing was "bad" but I think the dish still left me wanting something more? I felt like I needed a little freshness -- like a slice of orange or something to accompany the dish.Service was a little slow outside, but our server was nice overall.

The food here is very good and delightful for brunch. We went early to avoid waiting, which I highly suggest because the place is not huge. They have patio seating as well, which I enjoy and it is less crowded feeling. Both dishes were excellent, and our server Ciana was on point even though she was handling a lot of tables. The fried chicken is outstanding, and I would come back for that alone, but everything was great. The batter on the chicken fried steak has a slight spice to it that hits only the back of your tongue while the other flavors are in full force. Well done! I would definitely come back!
