Came here to feast and it did not disappoint!Ordered their prime rib, which includes a quality onion ring, choice of side, bread, and ice cream! The prime rib was pretty solid (chewy at some points)! Came away stuffed! A slightly casual place with helpful servers!Great place for all occasions!Parking available!Would recommend!

I've heard a lot about Sayler's (although it's mostly been about their 72 oz steak challenge) and I've really wanted to go. Coming here, I did a walk-in and had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated. The interior of the restaurant is a bit older and darker. Service here is nice and fairly quick.I ordered some veggies, onion rings, a salad, seared scallops, and a steak. Everything was pretty good! I wouldn't say that it was outstanding in any way but it was definitely fun andI enjoyed the experience. I would definitely come back with friends sometime!

I have been coming to Saylers since the 1970's- the restaurant has been our family destination to celebrate special events for our family- we have 3 generations now that visit to celebrate special events. Tonight was the absolute worst experience we have had as a customers and we left feeling unvalued, unimportant and an inconvenience for choosing to have our dinner here- something that has never happened before. When we arrived we were quick to be seated and that is where our experience deviated from our usual experience. We sat and waited approx 20 minutes before anyone came to see us, our server took our order. There was a larger delay before the relish tray came and another before our salads arrived and then another large delay before our food came. When our food arrived it was cold to the touch- and not even warm enough to melt the butter. I took a bite and the steak was luke warm. I asked our waitress if we could get it fixed and get warm steaks, she did not know how to handle it and she got the manager. The manager on duty explained that steaks that are medium rare are not warm and that if I wanted my steak to sizzle she would make them sizzle. I should have known what to expect. when our dinner came back our steaks were medium to medium well in spots. SO overcooked I could not eat it. The waitress noticed I was not eating my steak and asked if it was not to my liking. I told her it was overdone and I didn't want it she could take it.After my daughter finished, our waitress brought the check and said the manager took a little off the check. The amount taken off was 17.49, approx half the cost of the steak. I was insulted and asked them to remove the managers discount and I would pay the entire bill and to give the discount to the waitress as her tip. It honestly was an insult to pay for slow service and a burned steak that the manager had the kitchen ruin. I also couldn't believe the manger told the kitchen to put the food back on the grill that was in my mouth. They even brought the medium well bite back on the plate after over cooking it.For the Saylers team- To be honest we have had troubles in the past but what was different tonight is how the the troubles were resolved. Saylers in the past has always made sure everything was right and that is why we came there for our family celebrations- for the value of being appreciated, value of the meals and the experience and atmosphere. We have always chosen Saylers because of how we feel when we come to the restaurant- We know some of the servers and they know my parents, sister, my wife and I and even my children. One of the servers- Desiree- would visit with us, ask about our family even if we were not in her section. Another favorite server is Sarah- who makes our special needs daughter feel special when we visit just by adding a couple of cherries in her soda- Manager Mike always treated us with kindness and said hello to us when we saw him- although we have not seen him for a while. As a family we spend our money where we feel valued and appreciated. Tonight we felt treated like a burden and an inconvenience. We choose to spend our money at places that appreciate us as a customer- tonight this was not your restaurant. For the longevity of your restaurant I hope your servers and mangers learn to value customers- We will miss our the serves that we have come to know, but we sadly will not be back and will search for a place that appreciates us.

They don't make places like this anymore.Sayler's has been around for the better part of the last century (#1) and has been one of the city's go-to steak destinations from the local community. They are also home to one of the largest steak challenges with a 72oz monstrosity. Gimmicks aside, this is one of my favorite places to get a no frills steak and I sincerely hope they manage to stick around for a long time. The vibe is undoubtedly old school and the ambiance has a tinge of vintage, complemented by the scores of older clientele on any given day. It's no small place either, as there is plenty of seating, tables, and even parking spaces. Bathrooms are also clean and the place is generally very inviting.Their selection of meats / steaks is some of the best in Portland. From filet mignon to fatty ribeye to top sirloin and porterhouses. I have really enjoyed ribeyes and prime rib the most, I think most of their steaks deserve a little shine. The steak challenge is with their top sirloin and at 72oz, it's a lot of steak. I attempted it during my birthday meal years ago and it reminded me of a head or a bowling ball just made of beef. While I finished the next size down at 40oz relatively easily, I failed miserably with this one. The rules state that once the steak is served, one can finish the plate within 60 minutes. This also includes the sides, such as the vegetables, fries or baked potato. Once I'm done with the meat sweats and am a little hungry, I'll make it a point to come back. They don't just excel in steak, seafood is absolutely within their forté. The sea scallops and lobster tails are lovely and when paired with steak makes for the perfect kind of surf and turf. What's interesting is that no matter what one orders, every meal comes with a "relish tray" that includes salad, bread, entree, side dishes, and ice cream. Their homemade sour cream is stupidly addicting and should be bottled up.I really enjoy the service here. They've always been extra accommodating to my guests and I and they've been super efficient each time. I appreciate the how collectively friendly they are and they play a big part in my wanting to come back every year. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and my next large plate of steak.__________(#1) Nearly 80 years. That's so impressive.

I've had the best steak in quite a while at Saylers. We arrived at 7 pm on Friday night, and there was a 20-minute wait, but it was worth it. Food was delicious, and staff was friendly. The ambiance was pretty chill and relaxed. The steak came in 40 minutes after we ordered it, but it was very good.

Great food, value and service. One of the best prime rib lve had regionally. The bean and bacon soup tasted like someone's grandma cooked it in a big pot in the back.so good. The bread was hot and fresh. Again- so good. Haven't been since they closed in beaverton. That will have to change. Still great after all these years!

Our celebratory dinner order included an amazing 40oz Porterhouse served with a perfectly baked potato with butter, sour cream and chives. Sautéed mushrooms complemented the amazingly delicious Porterhouse ever so nicely. Cory was the best waiter and had such a fun sense of humor. He was very engaged with our dining experience and made our dinner so much fun with lots of laughs shared. We also ordered a 12 oz filet mignon, also served with a baked potato with butter, sour cream and chives. The lobster tails.... I believe I was making inappropriate when Harry met Sally sounds. It was THAT good! Loved the ambiance. You won't find many gems like this one anymore.

Not sure what to say, this place absolutely used to be the best. We got a gift card so we went to use it. The service was impeccable. She was very sweet and on the spot. My husband had chicken fried steak which I tasted and it was very good even better than my ribeye. I suppose everybody has an off day, but my steak was ordered, medium rare, more rare than medium and it was overcooked didn't have the same great flavor I remember. The rest of the dinner was spectacular so we will try it again.
