Samurai Blue's lunch special is amazing with large portions, and it's super fresh! The service is quick and they are very nice, I'll be going back for sure!

Finally decided to try a different sushi spot, and we were glad we did. It was a quiet weeknight, and we were the only people inside (a couple of tables outside). Service was lovely, and the food came out fast. First we had piping hot tempura, a generous serving but weirdly no broccoli. Then the sushi came out on a little stool. I loved the Wasabae roll (spicy salmon inside, 3 types of salmon on top) and the hamachi nigiri was a beautiful and generous cut. Recommended.

I stopped in to try the 5 course omakase for $50. I thought it was pretty good value, but it is definitely not a traditional sushi/sashimi omakase, but I liked that they had some creative twists. The first 3 courses are small apps followed by 5 pc nigiri and then a roll. One of the courses is just miso/salad which is kind of just filler but still a nice side. Then followed by albacore sashimi on top of marinated eggplant slices, very good, unique flavor. The sushi taco was next and I chose it w/ fried scallop. I think this might be my favorite of all the courses honestly, so fresh tasting & perfect fusion of flavors. Will prob come back just for this. The 5 pc sushi was fairly basic but they tossed in uni which was nice and it was fresh. The roll was some kind of a baked lobster roll - wasn't my fav it was a bit too fat & saucy. Overall pretty cool place and friendly chef. A little small inside not best for large groups.

I was walking along Mississippi St to check out the shops and happened across this restaurant. I ordered a lunch box bento with chicken and a 4pc spicy tuna roll and one of their specialty rolls, Spicy Grilled Eel roll. I sat at the bar so I got to see the roll I ordered made by the sushi chef which was cool. I love unagi and it was a little more subtle spiciness which is fine by me. The unagi was fresh and tasty. The grilled chicken in the lunch box was flavorful and tasted great. Normally I'm underwhelmed by any grilled chicken at other sushi places I've been too. Overall I felt satisfied with the price I paid.

Being a fishermen, I knew Portland had access to some great albacore, crab, and uni (sea urchin). I was right when I was walking down the street and found this Diamond in the rough. There was only a few people dining in so my party took over the sushi bar. What an experience it was. The chef was amazing and the staff were super attentive. They had the coolest shot glasses for sake. We all opted for the $50 omakase and it was the best decision of the night. We actually added chicken karaage & salmon collars to start before the omakase dishes came out. Both were perfect. Now for the courses that came, it was definitely unique as it had a nice twist to everything. I had to add some uni as my ultimate last bite and yet I was a perfect full. Chef had the perfect rice to fish ratio and that is why I might need to come back before I leave PDX.

The lady who served us was so nice and so funny! We saw Samurai Blue reviewed on The Korean Mama and had to try it. It was great! The sake cups with little dogs in them are the best! The sushi was delicious and a they had more traditional as well as fusion choices. We will be back!

I can't explain how much I love Mississippi street here in Portland I don't think there is anything I'm not a fan of on this street. And that continues with samurai blue easily the best sushi I've had in a while and even the ramen is great usually only get 1 out those 2. The two servers are lovely and super nice. If you come here get the lemonade any type of it regular, mango or strawberry. It's a little hole in the wall but it's so worth it. Coming back soon!!!

Nice hidden gem in North Portland. Great menu with inventive sushi rolls, diverse appetizers, ramen, lunch bentos, and Omakase. Their cocktail menu only consisted of 4, but the Ginger Mule and Strawberry Sour were delicious. They only have one Omakase, which is $45. It consists of miso soup, 2 apps, 5pc nigiri, and 1/2 sushi roll. Fish was super fresh, nice big pieces, and everything was tasty. Uni is a must. It was so sweet.Service was awesome. A nice Korean woman was running the front of the house. She was friendly, didn't rush us, described our dishes to us, and provided awesome service.I would go again.

Samurai Blue is a great neighborhood sushi spot! They offer a very good sushi, with yet a creative diverse menu of other great items like Korean Fried Chicken, sushi tacos and ramen! That's what I love about the place, you can go in for high quality omakase if you wanted, or you can opt for Korean ribs! It's extremely diverse and delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant is clean and relaxing. I love coming here to grab a drink when walking down Mississippi. The staff is also super friendly! Highly recommend!
