I've been meaning to try out this place for a while due to positive feedback I'd heard about the albacore sandwich and ended up coming here with a friend and her family. I thought the albacore was okay overall. It was clearly very fresh, though I felt like it needed something to cut the acidity of the giardiniera I added. It was dressed perfectly though. My friend really liked their hot veggie sandwich and thought the flavors were on point. I will have to come back and try something different next time.

Otto's was closed today so I rolled up Woodstock and tried Sammich. I LOVE Italian sandos and this was fantastic. I'm going to highlight the bread because it makes or breaks a sandwich. The bread was lightly toasted, held the sandwich together and I was able to easily bite through without shooting all the goodies out. Dude making sandwiches was super nice and quick in spite of the TRE being thoughtfully assembled. The pod it's in has a great selection, seating and a bar. Can't wait to eat again.

Best Italian beef in the metro. Better than Portillo's in Chicago. Get it dipped. The au jus was very flavorful.

This is my favorite cart at the Heist pod, and I've been there 2-3X more than any other cart there. First of all: super nice staff! And they're clearly trained chefs. It's REALLY hard to choose a favorite, because I have never been disappointed there, but my faves were a tie between the Cubbie Cubano (sub pork pastrami), and the Porkstrami. They were just perfection. Unique, and with exceptional flavor and textural chemistry. Both their baguette and sourdough were excellent, and really elevated the sandwiches--my fave breads there. My next favorites were the Chicago Italian Beef (OKAY, this is tied w/ #1 as well) and the Timbo (added giardiniera). I got them NOT dipped, because I don't like soggy bread. But crucially, the beef juice (jus), was literally the best I've ever had, and I've had many. This is not the cheap, floury, disappointing American "jus" you get at lowbrow restaurants. It fills your soul. More like an American style birria consume. Both of these sandwiches had a satisfying amount of the highest quality meat, and the perfectly pickled giardiniera and charred peppers foiled the umami so nicely in the Italian. The Pastrami Zombie, Da Burger, and the Albacore were flawlessly executed, with really fresh product (the albacore), and inventive twists in a classic framework (the Zombie slaw on the Reuben), but they didn't stand out to me like the others did, nor were they as sizable. I was still hungry after those. One thing to say, after visiting the Heist carts maybe 30-40 times now: the best way to spend $7 (plus big tip!) *in the whole place* is, hands down, to get a half-order of the Zombie fries, topped with chopped pastrami, provolone, giardiniera, and zombie sauce. You're welcome, in advance. I still have to try the Green Dragon and the cold sandwiches. I'm so looking forward to all those!

Tried the pastrami zombie, thinking mistakenly it was a Reuben , it's not. The pastrami was okay, not really deli style but tasty, then way too much Cole slaw, which was under seasoned and bland, had to take most off, cheese not melted because sandwich wasn't grilled. The bread seemed toasted, was dry and just okay. I ordered double meat, knowing the portions were small, and the sandwich was $30. Also they don't have any mustard but yellow, get a good deli mustard will ya. Has potential, but needs work

Food is good. Guy at cart took 5 minutes before he came to take my order, then after I waited 20 minutes for my food he bitched at me for waiting in the shade next to the cart instead of out in the blistering sun. He told me 'this area is for customers to pick up.' Dreadlock guy today Friday Aug 30, you suck.

This place is so freaking good!! We ordered an Italian Beef (pictured) and the TRE sandwich. The bread is light and fluffy, making it the perfect sandwich vessel. The pickled peppers on the Italian beef was 10/10! The only complaint is it did take a little bit to make but it was well well well worth it.

I've gotten sandwiches here a few times and they've always been great. Gluten free bread that a lot of places don't offer and it's such a treat to have a sandwich I can actually eat- I look forward to it and make the trek to get one when I feel like a splurge. Today weds 4/17 at like noon I rolled up to the food cart- no one was inside but the open sign was up. I waited around for like 20 mins for the dude to finally come back. I tried to order the same sandwich I always get on gluten free bread. The guy working told me "he couldn't do it because it doesn't work". Huh- I've had the sandwich a half a dozen times or more. I told him I get it often and he tried to argue with me so I gave up and left defeated- I'm not going to stand there and argue with you about a sandwich. I went to Otto's instead where they have no issue making a sandwich any way I could possibly order it. I guess I won't be back to Sammich if they're going to act like that. Shitty service, bad attitude, not accommodating and quite rude frankly.
