Friendly guy working, and tasty food at decent prices. The salad roll was delicious though the peanut sauce stole the show. I'll definitely be back. Only downside is the lack of fridge drinks- they're in a cooler which lead to a lukewarm soda. Otherwise, a wonderful lunch option downtown. I'll be back to try more things on the menu.

Yeah this place hits. Salad rolls are dank as hell and the curry chicken is delicious. Love how small and cute this place is. Lots of food for little cost. Will be back.

This is a food cart. I had the spicy chicken and would say it was OK. I was really hoping I could say it was excellent because the fellow that runs the cart is super nice. I tend to prefer dark meat. And this was clearly white meat. Also, it tasted like it had been cooked a while ago. Or, it was sitting in the warmer --it just had that kind of pasty taste that white meat can get it after it's been over cooked. With that said, all of the trimmings that came with the chicken were excellent. He served a nice light vinegar slaw he called salad. And the vegetables that he generously added were also good. Maybe I am just a chicken snob! He seemed to have a lot of very happy customers. I would say give them a try!

I've become a regular here so all I have to do is walk up and he already knows what I want. The portion sizes for the price is amazing. I typically order the large teriyaki chicken with brown rice, which is enough to fill me up and then some. I go on my days when I know I'm going to have a late dinner, and am satisfied from lunch until I eat again. Great spot to grab lunch if you're near the college.

After doing some 'research' for the best salad rolls in Portland, I decided upon the Saigon Kitchen for my birthday treat at work. I walked over, met a very nice Peter and he was amenable to a large order of 12 salad rolls (24 total) to be picked up on a certain date and time and had it boxed up and ready and waiting on that day, along with a large vat of peanut sauce, chili sauce and chopped peanuts. Happy Birthday to me!

This cart stands alone right across from the Multnomah County Courthouse. Good spot! Saigon Kitchen used to have a great restaurant on SE Division that was open forever. It's been closed for some time now. It did belong to the cart owner's parents. He's now dishing out the wonderful pad thai or curry on the street corner. There are two sizes, and trust me, just go for the smaller because he piles it on and it weighs a ton walking it back to the office. He also has this fresh, yet simple coleslaw that goes with your meal, not to mention his salad rolls are very well endowed. Oh and don't forget to get the peanuts on top.

You only have a couple choices from this cart, so it could suck for some, but kick butt for most.. I work half a block away and have been coming here for over 4 years. Since the first time I came here I've only had the best experiences. The guy that works most often is really sweet and always has a great attitude. The curry tofu isn't exactly the normal curry you'd get at most thai carts. Its mostly a peanut-based sauce so if you don't like peanutty goodness - you most likely won't like this place.Curried tofu = $4.50 = perfectly spiced, slow-cooked & marinated potatoes, carrots, and tofu drizzled over white rice and sprinkled with roasted chopped peanuts. *holy goodness of yum*Salad rolls (w/ tofu) = $3.50 = 2 huge salad rolls with lettuce, bean sprouts, tofu and noodles. Big enough you can have them as lunch.***BTW: that photo on the yelp review is not the Saigon cart at 5th and Main St. downtown Portland (outside of the Portlandia Building)****

I've been eating from this cart for 6 years. The entree choices are Curry chicken, Curry Tofu, Spicy Chicken, and tofu wraps. The yellow curry at this cart is very peanutty. I usually go for the chicken curry but sometimes I go for the tofu curry which has HUGE chunks of tofu, potatoes, and carrots. They also offer chopped peanuts on top.The service is always friendly and quick and I appreciate the simplified menu choices. I prefer a cart that prepares 1 or 2 specialties and leaves it at that.

The salad rolls are delicious and cheap. $3.75 for large tasty salad rolls and peanut sauce. I eat the tofu rolls frequently. They also have a great chili sauce. On the corner of main and sw 5th ave. check it out!

My husband and I were frequent customers of Saigon Kitchen food truck, we loved the hot/spicy chicken with salad, it was our favorite lunch. We were also customers at both of Saigon kitchen restaurants. We were frequent customers at their west side restaurant around 2003, i the owners were awesome, super friendly when the west side restaurant closed we tried the Division restaurant wasn't the same. The food truck was always awesome it's where we got our hot/spicy chicken fix. We left Portland in 2007 have not been able to find hot /spicy chicken. We also look in internet hoping to find the recipe.
