If Portland was to have yet another nickname to it would be "brunch city." Despite being so popular I usually don't share the enthusiasm with the rest. I think the main reason is typically no matter where you to go brunch, it is relatively the same menu, avocado toast, eggs benedict, omelets, etc, and while some places might be their own twist on this dishes they still don't excite me. However, upon briefly looking at the menu here, I saw numerous dishes that piqued my interest We started with the corn fritters as an appetizer, and they were a delightful surprise! The sweet ones with blueberry and lemon curd were a perfect balance of flavors, and the savory corn and cheddar with buffalo sauce was incredibly satisfying. For our mains, my husband had the trout hash, and I opted for the veggie hash. Both were incredibly flavorful and filling, and I even got two decent meals out of mine!My mom went the YOLO route, and had a lemon cheesecake with berry compote. Our server had to keep a watchful eye on us, as every time my mom turned her back we would steal bites. Our server was fantastic - attentive, friendly, and had a great sense of humor. If you're looking for a brunch spot that stands out from the crowd, the place is definitely worth a visit!

Pleasant Montavilla pub. Nice spot for a late breakfast or early lunch.Dan went for the fried oatmeal waffles (waffles, eggs, and bacon), while I chose the chicken sandwich, which was served on a tasty brioche bun and came with fries and a few slices of dill pickle and some pickled cauliflower. Decent sandwich, surprisingly not very spicy -- the menu calls it Spice, Spice, Baby (Tori's Fried Chicken Sandwich). Guess the billing made me expect a bit more punch. Attractive ambiance. Attentive wait staff. Fast and efficent service.

Haven't been to Redwood in awhile and I have to say it was really really good. We had the fritters, biscuits and collards, and a Marion berry waffle and they were all delicious.I used to live in the neighborhood and I remember getting Redwood at least 5 years ago and it was good. I was just highly impressed by the food, I had zero expectations going in, we were just looking to grab a bite to eat and I remeber it being a solid place.Well whatever you are doing keep it up! Everyone was really friendly too and the service was great.Thanks.

First impression--great place for day drinking (or maybe just cause it's a sunny Friday @ 12:30.) Not us though, just water. A bit more variety on the breakfast side of the menu than the lunch, both served all day. I went with the fried oatmeal waffles, in part as it's been a long time since i had waffles, and never oatmeal or fried. Had good loft, weight, and texture; some lsight off-flavor, but slight. eggs done well and 4 pieces of bacon. Tony had the spicy chicken sandwich which was barely spicy, but serviceable. 5 star service. Nice ambiance to the place.

First: the hostess said it would be a twenty minute wait; it was lessSecond: they call you instead of walking around shouting your nameThird: the coffee. Holy. LORD. The BEST I ever had sittin down waitin to eat. Turns out it came from Mudd Roastery, a place I had just discovered myself, only the blend they use at redwood is much better than the already decent stuff I've been enjoying. Fourth: the food. I'll be honest, the potato pancakes - morsels whose superior kinds i continue to hunt whewherever I go - were disappointing. The waitress said the onion in them was subtle, but sugar, I'm here to tell you, the onion was on holiday for the two I had. They were smaller, verbally-glorified hash browns. Still, even though they were bland and seemed onionless, they were fried in oil so clean and light that their texture was magnificent. Salt, pepper, and a bit of Redwood's signature quince butter helped. I got some cheddar corn fritters to go, in case the ersatz latkes were duds. Now let's talk about those. Another Holy. Lord. They needed salt, BUT, given that, they were still flavorful. I could actually taste the cheddar! And the texture?? Daaaaamn. I have never had such light, smooth, airy fried dough. They transcended perfection. Were they worth $12? I'ma say yeah. Do it!

Day 2 on our itinerary had us going to Redwood for breakfast. When planning the itinerary, I found Redwood as one of the top rated breakfast/brunch establishments on Yelp. With three rumbling (hungry) tummies, we made the 20 minute drive to the restaurant. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by an employee who sat us outside (per our request), turned on the table heater (it was a fairly nippy morning), and provided menus. Roughly five minutes later our friendly server (I cannot recall her name) came by to provide us with waters, coffee, and to take our orders. Per our server's recommendation, I ordered the Bacon Arugula Scramble with a Redwood Original (one of the beauties of being on vacation is being able to have a morning bourbon). My wife ordered the famous loaded hash browns with a Bloody Mary, and my son ordered the Fresh Mozzarella scramble with a hot chocolate. Approximately 15 minutes later our visually appealing orders were being delivered to our table. My son absolutely loved his order, which was doused in ketchup (I remember having a phase as a child where I put ketchup on everything). Also, his hot chocolate with a birthday cake-ish froth was absolutely delicious (he "allowed" me to have a sip). As for my wife and I...our food looked good, but did not taste the part. Everything was fresh, but the food lacked seasoning. I understand that some folks prefer to season their food with what is available at their table; however, the kind of seasoning that I am referring to needs to be done during the preparation of the meal.Although the food was not as good as it could have been, overall we were satisfied with our experience and the customer service provided. Our server was very attentive and did a great job of checking in on us without hovering. I can't say that we would return to this establishment, but I also believe that sometimes cooks have an "off day."

Coming here on a Sunday morning you can expect a wait time of around 30min. The location has an outdoorsy atmosphere to it that feels cozy. The food is the reason why people are waiting to eat here I had an oatmeal waffle for the first time and it was dangerously good. Reminded me of an elephant ear you can get at a carnival. Staff was supper sweet and responsive!

We had lunch/brunch here with friends. I really liked this place and would dine here again. I got the chilaquiles and it was OK. They kind of deconstructed the the tortilla component and served the crunchy chips on top with no sauce on it and the mushy chips underneath with a salsa verde. It didn't work for me. All that said, I would eat here again. The croquettes were fabulous. Service was great.

Great place for dinner! We were seated right away. Their margarita is one of the best I have had! All the food had great flavor and their staff was super cool and made sure we were taken care of. Smaller dining room for more intimate brunch or dinner!

This brunch place was definitely worth the 30 minute wait! Two of us made it out for less than $50, and we had the best fries of our lives. Overall the service, food and atmosphere were well worth it. Parking was free and there is plenty of shops to wonder while you wait. We will be back!
