Queen of Sheba is an unassuming place from the outside, on a quiet block of MLK. The interior is painted in earth tones and Ethiopian decor, but is a bit in need of a spruce-up. The food, meanwhile, is wonderful. My fiance is an Ethiopian food fanatic and regularly ate at nearby En'joni but it changed cooks and declined over the pando. We ordered the veggie sampler for two, and it was an enormous amount of food! It didn't come with the extra basket of injera, but there was plenty folded under the food. The beet and mushroom was a highlight, but everything was good. There was a lot of lettuce in the center (what my fiance called "load-bearing salad") and four types of lentils. It didn't seem hot at all, but there was some heat in there because at the end of the meal my mouth was a bit tingly.Service was prompt and gracious. This is likely our new go-to for Ethiopian.

We love Queen of Sheba, the spices are perfect, the portions are good, and it's always fresh. It may take some time but be patient because it's all made with love and served by the owner. It's on the top of my Portland Ethiopian list

My mom, cousin, and I were craving Ethiopian food last week - as it was almost 8pm, we were pleased to find that Queen of Sheba was not only around the corner from where I live, but open until 9pm. When we arrived, around 8pm, we were met with reluctance to allow us to dine as the host/server (maybe owner?) explained that they were planning to close early but she decided to serve us anyway. It was pretty easy to make a quick decision on what to order as my cousin is vegan and there didn't appear to be appetizers/side dishes on the menu, so we went with the veggie combo for three. It was priced very affordably at $15 per person. I also ordered a Heineken because it was the only beer they had, lolz. The food was delicious, I especially liked the mushroom dish, which I don't think I've seen often in Ethiopian restaurants. I also enjoyed the injera because I love sour/pickled/fermented things and this injera tasted extra fermented.

My friend brought me here years ago for a delicious meal and I've come back numerous times. A very unpretentious atmosphere - one side of the restaurant looks like a comfortable living room and the other side is brightly lit with a bar. The food is yummy and the hostess is always friendly to me.

Great food and great atmosphere. We came on a pretty busy night and our waitress (the only waitress) still did her best to make sure we were well attended. Even being so busy service was still great. The food - outstanding 10/10. Ethiopian is my favorite and this place did not disappoint.

Exactly what we wanted. Had some sides we haven't had elsewhere, and they were all yummy! Lighting wasn't exactly relaxing, but for a small business I won't be too picky. Would go again!

Decent Ethiopian food with many vegetarian options. The default is mild on the spicing, so keep that in mind when ordering. I prefer some spice but hadn't realized this. Lovely people also.

Delicious meals with lots of choices. Just a little confusing knowing how they configure combining items and pricing. Helps if you're a regular I guess.

First time eating here even though I have heard a lot about them before.Came for dinner on a Friday evening and the place was empty .The restaurant has a very low key no fuss vibe and it felt a little awkward to be alone in a big space . Nobody came to take our order for at least 15 minutes but it looked like there was just one person working .We ordered the vegetarian platter for two and another chicken curry . The platter was ginormous to say the least. Even with four of us we struggled to finish it. The plate even though had ten veggie dishes a few did taste pretty similar .For me the chicken dish tasted way better because of all the dense spices and the tender meat. The injera was huge and they also provided a second serving of it. Prices are extremely reasonable. For me the experience lacked a bit in terms of how eerie quite it was and the service being too slow . I would probably do takeout from here personally next time instead of in-person dining.
