Service was great. Owners are very nice. Food was awesome. Clean and neat inside. This place used to be busy before Covid but not so much now. Food taste and quality is it was, very good.

It's been a while since I've been here. We came for lunch, but after the lunch rush so there weren't many people left. They have two options - Mongolian Grill or Hot Pot. We initially wanted the hot pot, but we didn't think we would have enough time to enjoy it, so we opted for the Mongolian grill. There was your standard selection of meats and veggies to choose from. Since it was only us, our food came out pretty quick. The host was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed.

OMG.. delicious! I served myself noodles, zucchini, onions, mushrooms, tofu and beef. The cook did an great job grilling my food. Tasted like carne asada lol other places the beef has a different texture and flavor. Maybe the cut? Idk but it tasted delicious. Found a new place downtown Portland to eat! The staff is wonderful and helpful. It's clean and quiet.

This place is as good as any other Mongolian Grill. Ingredients we fresh and there were multiple meat and veggie options. Soup and and rice are self service and include in the piece. It's not extraordinarily better than any other Mongolian Grill chains, so I wouldn't come here instead of there, but if you're in the area, it's a good option.

Our favorite Mongolian grill! The food is always delicious. Very well-maintained - fresh food, clean counters, hand sanitizer strategically placed at the beginning and end of the self-serve area. Friendly and attentive staff.

My friend that works in the Downtown Portland Oregon business district introduced me to this place. I travel with a service dog and it makes it hard for me to successfully navigate some restaurants. Understanding the food safety issues I only visit this establishment with my friend. He holds my service animal while I go through the food preparation line to choose my ingredients. I hand it off to the grill master and in minutes it is complete. They gave me enough time to pick up a bowl of delicious sweet and hot soup. For a cost of $19.95 I leave full. They respected my use of a service animal. I know that his training was a good medium that showed he could be a good citizen dog. For the most part nobody knew he was even there. Great food and great service. I will continue to eat here each week my friend and I work in the Downtown Portland together.

The ingredient quality is good, and the chef knows what he's doing. If you want Mongolian grill, and want to support a locally-owned business, Portland Mongolian Grill & Hot Pot isn't a bad choice. Unfortunately, it's also far from a good one. Post-COVID, the hot pot is nowhere to be seen. The grill prices are up to $20 for a very limited portion (2 bowls -- or, in other words, 1 trip through the ingredient bar). At 6PM, 2/3 of the ingredients remain (luckily, beef among them) and the chef is nowhere to be seen. Both employees are very kind, but the business policies are strict: 2 bowls per person, no take-out containers, drinks cost extra. Seconds are heavily discouraged. I don't fault the employees' adherence to the company policies, just the policies themselves. Furthermore, the space has a weird, muted vibe. No music, and when we visited, no diners. In conjunction with the dwindling ingredient trays, the whole place felt eerie and dead. If you're looking for the classic, all-you-can-eat, fun-for-the-family Mongolian grill experience, while I hate to say it, you should probably go to a Chang's.However, if you're craving Mongolian BBQ, and don't mind paying a bit of a premium (and taking a hit to portion size), to support a small business, Portland Mongolian Grill & Hot Pot is an acceptable option.

First; the hot pot was not a thing. I don't know if it's a permanent issue, but during Saturday dinner hours this weekend, it was not an option. Too bad, that's what peaked our interest, and we were unfortunately committed so stuck around hoping for the best. Next; I don't know what's wrong with OR Mongolian grills restricting how many bowls you take up for those prices, but it's insane. It is common in my experience to pay a high price, but be able to eat until you bust. We in WA would literally not go to a Mongolian Grill for that amount without unlimited access to the food. Not to mention it usually comes with a beverage and a small dessert (soft serve ice cream but you have to respect the effort). This place felt like they were more desperate to milk their customers for every penny with as little effort as possible than they were at providing a positive experience for anyone. You are allowed two very shallow bowls and if you want another, it is a $5 per charge. I give this two stars because luckily we left fed, but I wouldn't call it worth the price. There were soups that tasted straight out of a package, self serve rice with a paddle sitting in a dirty water bowl, and, I'm not going to lie, I liked that the nondescript hot black tea was self serve, though it's a little tacky. For three people we spent almost $100 dollars. Even at Portland prices, for no atmosphere, service that hovered uncomfortably making excuses for only allowing one set of cheap chopsticks while making sure we didn't sneak more food, and small choice on the grill options, again, not worth it. The stomach problems after weren't a thrill either. I don't know if it was caused by replacing meat by dropping frozen onto thawed discolored pieces that had been sitting in the pans for some time (and not swapping in a new pan entirely as would be the normal sanitary practice) or something else, but in reading the other reviews I feel like maybe this place has gone downhill. Not only won't be back, but I would warn anyone away from this place.
