This is one of the few authentic Soul Food spots in Portland. Po Shines has been a staple in the food community in Portland. I went with the brisket platter with greens and candied yams. My friend ordered the platter with fried chicken, brisket, greens, and mac & cheese.Everything was delicious, the staff was inviting, and the quality of the food was on point. I will definitely be returning. If you want some down home cooking don't miss out.

What an amazing find! Absolutely loved the pulled pork po-boy and potato salad. They add a lot of flavor to both. The atmosphere is pleasant with jazz music. The lighting is perfect. Most of all I really like the folks that work here. Love serving customers with a smile and genuine love for what they do. Thomas, the chef came out and checked with me to make sure I was satisfied. I can't wait to come back.

Okay, so let me say, I DO NOT TRUST ALL "Soulfood" or southern food spot recommendations in Portland but Po'Shines is pretty dang good. I've been here a few times and it was still gooooood. Not much of a fan of the cobbler since it has oatmeal in it.....(crickets). But everything else is

Had a great meal last night. I had the brisket basket with red beans & rice w/ hush puppies. Husband had fried chicken basket, coleslaw & cornbread. They had a special beverage blended marionberry lemonade with vodka that was fantastic. Service was lovely as well. We've been coming here for over 10 years when our kids were playing rugby at Delta Park. We make a point of dining here when we are in the area. Doesn't disappoint!

With southern roots from New Orleans, I'm always skeptical of restaurants claiming to serve soul food. Po' Shines was a pleasant surprise. The artwork was impressive and tasteful. The wooden church bench was well placed and amusing to add to that down home reality. Service was like going visit your boyfriend's grandma, very warm and welcoming. I enjoyed watching the interaction between my husband and the owner. Now for the food, we split the fish and wings combo plate which came with 2 sides and a bread. We chose hush puppies for the bread and enjoyed them thoroughly. I dipped in my candied yams juice and husband dippped in pot liquor from greens. All of this tasted like Grandma or cousin Rose or someone from NOLA made. We also had the red beans and rice. Not my favorite because they weren't mine, but still a good side. The cat fish was delish and we enjoyed the chicken but they were unusually plump which was a bit odd, but definitely great flavorWe were stuffed so took the peach cobbler to go. So I know they must've found my Aunt Edna's recipe cause the cobbler tasted just like she brought it over. We both enjoyed this. If Mike wants to add a spot in the Bay Area of Cali, he's got our vote and we would visit often. For those of you in Portland OR, do yourself a favor and support this black owned and operated restaurant, you'll be glad you did.

I would love to give a huge shout out to John, and the crew for helping provide a last minute catering ask for "Black History Month" for a large local company. When working on a budget to feed many. They were one of the easiest to work with hands down, while fully catering to all asks and last minute changes. The food was a HIT and was cleared out within minutes! & People were still asking for more, and where it came from. Fully recommend. 10/10
