First time visiting this restaurant. It is located on the main street in the Hawthorne shopping area. The restaurant is not large, but there is ample seating. It is not a self-serve restaurant.I tried their taco combo with meats and shrimp. All the tacos were excellent and full of flavor. The ingredients were very fresh. The hot sauces were spicy and very tasty.

This is hands down my favorite new restaurant of 2024. Everything I have had here is the best version of that thing I've ever had. Standouts for me are two dishes I never really cared for before: mole and flan. When I first tried their mole enchiladas I made excuses to have them two more times in the same week.Beyond tasty food the owners and staff are very friendly. They renovated the outdoor space so there is lots of covered outdoor seating, some with heaters. It's tucked away enough that you don't really notice the Hawthorne traffic. And they have a parking lot!I don't know what else to say. Try this place out, you won't regret it.

Wow! With just a bite of their Al Pastor Taco, I knew that this is gonna be the best Mexican place in PDX. The meat was soooo juicy and flavorful. Their tortilla was fresh and soft. The balance of sweetness from the pineapple was perfect. Their Carne Asada and Birria Tacos were also delicious. Super generous with the high quality meat.We couldn't stop with just tacos and proceeded to order an Al Pastor Burrito and an Embazo which was a torta covered in a special red sauce loaded with chorizo and potatoes. The Burrito was nicely seared on all sides and the guac was so fresh. The bread for the Embazo was soft and well-toasted. Their chorizo was the best that I've ever had! Rice but not greasy or too salty.Horchata was thick, smooth, and perfectly sweet.I can't rave about this spot enough. Ambience was impeccable as well with indoors and outdoors seatings. Staffs were friendly as can be. Really a 10/10 spot that I haven't experience in a long time.

Wow! It's probably a great thing that I live out in Beaverton because otherwise, I'd probably be here every day! This little spot on SE Hawthorne is a not so hidden gem (as showcased by the line when I arrived) providing a quick & tasty eating experience. I had a birria taco, chicken taco & prawn taco, and my favorite was surprisingly the prawn. I'm 100% a birria girly, and this birria was no joke (juicy, well seasoned and perfectly paired with a pile of onion & cilantro), but the prawns stole the show! They had the texture of ceviche, which I LOVE, and the added fresh lime juice just took it over the top! The chicken was also delicious, and the spices are something I need to figure out to replicate at home! The two salsas that came with the tacos were sadly too spicy for me (I have the taste buds of a newborn... sad), but I couldn't stop taking tastes of the both of them with pieces of tortilla. I believe the red was a tomato base, and holy hell, the flavor was so good it was worth toasting my tongue!I also had a tamarindo agua fresca, which was a new beverage for me. I will almost always get horchata, but wanted to try something different. The tamarindo was tart, sweet, cold & refreshing, and if you haven't tried it before, I urge you to.I WILL be back, simply because there are both tamales & pozole on the menu, and those both speak to my heart. I will plan on eating in the next time (I was sadly short on time to enjoy on the patio), as my one 'complaint' is that the meats were so tender that the tortillas were wet by the time I ate them. It didn't change a damn thing about the tacos though; as a wise person once said: tacos fall apart and we love them anyway!

Sometimes you need a reprieve from the bustle on this stretch of Hawthorne, and Plaza Coyoacan fits the bill. Though the exterior is done up in tropical blues and reds it's easy to miss the place among the other businesses. Inside it's a fairly compact, nondescript layout, with a counter up front where you order and a couple of tables scattered near the windows, so the patio is the hot ticket - weather permitting. I visited in summertime and it turned out to be a very nice place to chill in the urban jungle, with shade cloths, a fountain and picnic tables adding pizzaz to an otherwise simple space. I got a trio of tacos, one each of the marinated chicken, the codfish and the house veggies. All three were a good size, and filled with super fresh fillings with popping flavors, set on organic corn tortillas and arranged perfectly on the plate. The whole presentation was a step or two above what you'd get at the local neighborhood Mexican joint, with special attention to good ingredients and preparation. No creamy beans and chips here. The accompanying salsas too were excellent, with a bit of heat and great flavor, and the service was exceptional all around - even though you order at the counter they bring your food out and check on you regularly. A small place with lots of character and great service. Highly recommended.

Came back for dinner and the owners remembered us which was a pleasant surprise. We decided to get a few more items that we didn't order last time. I got the fajita plate, spicy margaritas, burrito, and chicken tamales. Everything was really good! The fajitas were flavorful. The shredded chicken in the tamales wasn't my favorite but the masa was amazing. Great vibes, lots of seating, plenty of parking, and the staff here are amazing.

I absolutely adore this place. I loved all the hand written signs, the colorful decor. It is truly nostalgic of my time spent in Mexico City last year. The staff was friendly and super helpful if we had any questions. The prices are very reasonable for being in the heart of Hawthorne. I only ordered two Coyoacan blue corn tortillas, one mushroom and one chorizo and potato. The mushroom one was definitely my favorite of the two, super flavorful and reminiscent of the street vendors. The tortillas were fresh and we could definitely taste the love in every bite. I'm am excited to come back here and try more food on their menu.

This is a very homey restaurant. Has a quick orders to go area. A great sitting area outside covered. Small parking lot outside. The homemade Horchata was delicious. Has a good balance of nutmeg and cinnamon. And I definitely like its sweetness in it. The prawn and cod fish tacos were delicious. I asked for a mixture for the three fish tacos. So fresh and delicious that you don't even want to share but eat it by yourself. They have a very extensive menu. Selling flavorful margaritas and other beers. Great neighborhood area to walk to and catch a good bite to eat while window shopping on Hawthorne.

Just tried out tonight and we are so happy. A fun place with really good fajitas along with other good stuff. Walk up and order, get your number and some indoor seating and a lot of protected patio seating. So first very helpful owner Leticia helped me figure out the best margarita and offered me the happy hour prices with 2 minutes to spare. We ordered the chips but I wanted the Guava margarita and it wasn't on the happy hour. It didn't matter I loved the margarita, could taste the alcohol but it was smooth and the guava flavor was excellent. As I mentioned I got the fajitas and they were very flavorful with just a hint of heat which was perfect for me. Comes with four corn tortillas which held together well and were good quality. I did order a side of white cheese and it was more than I needed so I may ask for less next time as $2.50 was a bit more than I was expecting but $18 for fajitas is reasonable and I was stuffed!Husband got a burrito on a whole wheat tortilla and held the rice so nice they have those options. He loved it and also said very flavorful. It was the one with green sauce and cheese but would have liked a bit more guacamole and sour cream as guac was so good. Also hard to find burritos in Portland. Leticia also came over to check on us and introduce herself and she is from Mexico City. Super friendly and helpful. Please check this place out you won't be disappointed.

After experiencing Plaza Coyoacan as part of a Yelp event, and absolutely loving their food, I've already been back twice! Yes, it's that good!!!The food is absolutely exceptional. The flavors are on point, every bite a delight. I can't rave enough about their pastor, the chunks of pineapple adding a sweetness to the juicy pork. They are served on homemade blue corn tortillas and are generously filled. I could eat these everyday! Seriously, they are that good. They have so many delicious items on the menu, all authentic. While I enjoy stopping in for lunch in dinner, next time I'll go late morning to get the chilaquiles. Not many places serve them and theirs look delicious. The owner and entire staff is super friendly and they are always happy to hear I love their food. There are tables in the room where you enter and order, and lots more seating through the side door. This area is a covered patio with a variety of seating arrangements. We were there on a cool November night and the overhead heaters kept us warm. Definitely my new go-to place whenever I'm craving a street taco or legit Mexican food. Located right on SE Hawthorne, I always find parking out front.
