A once thriving community collection of food trucks, so popular with the hospital & NE neighborhood, all tragically lost in a fire last year. As if the pandemic was not the hardest life challenge.Pepe Chile's is first to hopefully revive the food stand service corner amongst the burnt ruins that still remain surrounding the truck. We appreciate they survived and able to have a second go at it. 12 hour days everday ~ breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Monster portions. Actually have to ask Julio to not add as much inner ingredients as the jumbo burrito became to difficult to hold and chomp. Salsa is spicy to super spicy. Friendly neighborly service ~ always smiley & welcoming, happy to tweak to your liking, always thank yous.Outdoor picnic tables for the sunny days!

Decent taco spot, but not my fave. The meat isn't as tasty as other places to me, particularly the pastor. Normal street tacos are $3 which is standard/on the lower side even. I've tried a Pepe Chile taco for $1 more w/ a handmade tortilla but didn't notice any better taste really. My favorite thing about the place tho is how you can customize each taco from a choice of about 10ish toppings like pickled onions, queso fresco, pineapples, guac and what have you. Again, not bad tacos just so much competition around. They do a lot of tasty sounding breakfasty items as well if that's your thing. Also, they have beer!

Miguel and his assistant-of-the-day are always so welcoming. I try to speak to them in Spanish, but I skipped that language in school. They appreciate my trying. Miguel makes delicious authentic Mexican food and, though he deserves them, I'm always so sad and lost without him when he takes his vacations. The food is soooo tasty and, of course, a little heavy. They have authentic Mexican sodas and aguas frescas, and they offer a couple alcoholic drinks if you're staying inside the patio. The patio is being rebuilt after the neighboring cart's kitchen fire devastated this location, and I expect it will be as cozy as it was before when it's done. As tasty as the food is, and as much as Miguel deserves the compensation, my only wish is that the food was a little more in my price range. I used to visit a few times a week, but can now afford to go once in a blue moon.

ATTENTION ATTENTION, these poor folks lost the cart in a fire. I went to go get tacos tonight and it's burnt to the ground. Please support them by going to their Birria cart down the street in Williams. To the owner - I hope you come back stronger than ever!UPDATE: Woo hoo, they're back open, patio is still under reconstruction but they're serving up food again!

Love this taco truck! Big burritos at reasonable prices and even a little seating area. The wet burritos are my favorite, especially the spicy red sauce. The staff are very nice and professional.

I've been wanting to try Pepe's for a we now and finally did! hands down the BEST veggie bowl I've ever had! Full of flavor. Pepe's has a pretty extensive menu of Mexican cuisine. They offer many condiments and when I got my bowl everything that was offered I said yes load me up! The rice is super flavorful too. Absolutely love this cart, my new favorite!

I got two things, the chorizo and bacon breakfast burrito and a pastor torta. Maybe these are the wrong things to get here but I have to judge off of what I tasted.Breakfast burrito: I've never had a breakfast burrito with rice and beans but hey, down to try anything. I took three bites and thought my order was wrong because I did not get any eggs, potatoes, chorizo, or bacon in any of the bites. The fourth bite is when I found it. Yall, the burrito is huge, but I kid you not, there was a strip of bacon, maybe one scrambled egg, and some chunks of potato/chorizo in a sea of rice and beans. This would be fine if the burrito wasn't $14. For that price, the ratio needs to have more of the breakfast side of things. The price to quality ratio is way off for a breakfast burrito. Way off. Pastor Torta:Pros: the bread is great and the toasted texture is perfect. Cons: there is maybe 2 ounces of Pastor in the whole sandwich. The pastor tastes great, add more. The pastor here is basically marinated strips of pork loin it seems, each half of the torta contained maybe 6-8 strips, not kidding. You open the torta and you see more bread in between the pastor than actual pastor. Again for $14, this is crazy low value. For bread, lettuce, tomato, and 2oz of pork, this isn't it.Again, maybe i got the wrong things, maybe the other burritos or tacos is where it's at. But from what I had, this is one of the more disappointing Mexican food experiences I've had in Portland that wasn't from a chain (don pedro, victoricos, muchas gracias, etc). Even for Portland Mexican food standards, this was a bit of a let down. The food was hot, the salsas were okay, and the taste itself is fine which is why I give 3 stars.

Prices are pretty high for what I ordered. A breakfast burrito with potato and chorizo. Was pretty shocked when the price was 13$. They are surrounded by abandoned food trucks and a dilapidated building with trash everywhere. Didn't expect a thirteen dollar breakfast burrito a la carte for that price. They don't have prices on the board on the floor with all their breakfast items. Maybe that's so they can change the price on them consistently. A egg, chorizo, potao rice and bean burrito shouldn't be 13$
