Great Food...Good Dive Tavern, which hasgreat food. Taco Tuesday is Very Good! All kinds of folks float into this Dive Tavern, but that's what I love about it. Waitresses are absolutely nice folks and very service oriented. Do not talk politics or religion; you will be ask to stop...one fair good warning and you will know to stop. Fun friendly folks!!!I go there to get out of the house sometimes. This is great place for down to earth folks, who work hard and can deal with what's out there on 82nd Avenue...dig!!?to get out of the house sometimes. It's a place that once you like it, then you'll Love it!

I have been going here for over 20 yrs. Tonight was told not to come back because our friend wanted her to check her keno tickets instead of using the in house bar machine..... So sad that the new owners don't appreciate those of us who have been coming here for years

I left my car once @ a shop while it's getting oil change, lubed, tuned etc. . . . on a cold winter's day, since it was sunny, I thought it would give me a chance to enjoy the nice weather we're having, but I've only gone 4 blocks when I decided maybe stop to grab something warm to eat and by then my car would be finished.I was wrong! This place we passed by many times looked as bad from the outside as it is inside! Not happy with the customer service, not happy with the food, they didn't have hot cocoa, it's not clean, it's a bar for heaven's sake! The price for breakfast was cheap, but I got my hot cocoa @ 7-11 to drink on my way home. I never went back to PU my car, it was farther away than I thought, and waited for hubby to get home from work to drive me back to the shop.

Didn't go in because of the looks from the outside...not that attractive. It does look like a dive bar but we decided to taste the local flavor. Sat at the bar and quickly learned that the bartender was also the cook, the bouncer, & fixed the video games as needed. She was a spunky one! Addressed all the regulars by name & that is a special place. We met two locals-Jim & Randy. Each had their own story and happy to share...& we enjoyed hearing. Go here for the experience...oh, & our burgers were fantastic!!

Interesting and friendly clientele. Nice neighborhood bar to go watch a sports game or play some free pool Tiffany the bartender was very friendly and a very good cook at the same time. Had a delicious jalapeño burger.

so I stopped by Pappys last night because a few friends recommended the burgers. They were absolutely amazing! it was very flavorful and juicy! The bartender who was working i believe her name was Tiffany. she was such a sweetheart and even as the bar was very busy and she had multiple customers she was still attentive to all the patrons needs. My food was hot and fresh and served to me in a timely manner! I will definitely come back based on my experience last night! if i could give more than 5 stars I totally would! Fun, clean and easy going atmosphere!

This place is a joke. Went there once. Terrible service. Tried to give it another chance. Placed a call for takeout and they never answered their phone. Don't waste your time at this dive.

During a recent visit to PDX, I was looking for a place to buy smokes after getting off of the Green line at around 11pm on a Monday night. I was with a friend who lives just a couple of blocks away on 84th. As anyone who is familiar with the neighborhood knows, it can come across as a little sketchy, particularly late at night. We passed by Pappy's and decided to stop in to see if they had cigarettes. From the outside, it looks like it used to be a convenience store that was altered into a bar/restaurant. Not too many customers inside (it was late on a Monday after all) and sort of got the vibe that folks wanted to keep to themselves but did not get a sense of being unwelcome. I found that they carried my brand of cigarettes, and after a little bit of convincing, I talked my friend into a shot and a beer. Bartender was very generous with the Jamo shots and the beer was ice cold. We were feeling the vibe (and the buzz) so we got quarters for pinball (Walking Dead) and ordered some food. It was late so the kitchen was limited so we ordered tater tots and onion rings. When the food came out, the portions were massive, proverbial mountains of greasy goodness! I bought a couple more beers as we ate our food and at around 11:30 or midnight, the bartender announced last call, I assume because there were only a handful of people in there at that point. The bartender was also very sweet and attentive and made us feel welcome. We received the check which a felt was very reasonable considering how much food and drink we got, plus the smokes.I'll admit that the neighborhood and exterior façade could turn some folks away. But this is a dive bar, which is by no means an insult. It is not pretending, it is not at all pretentious, it just is. It is not trying to be a gastropub (even though they serve food), a brewcade (even though they have arcade games and a good beer selection), or a dance club (even though they have a jukebox). It is a neighborhood bar, that caters to people who live around the area, with very reasonably priced food and drinks. I can only speak to the tots and onion rings since that's all we ordered but, they came out quickly, were served hot, and weren't dripping with grease. As a 45 year old dude in a hip city like Portland where everything becomes "a thing", it was really refreshing to go to a bar where I didn't feel like I wasn't hip enough to be there. My buddy who lives around the corner and has been avoiding Pappy's for the past couple of years, said that he will definitely be returning, as will I the next time I go to visit him. Thanks Pappy's!
