Pairings Portland has fun concepts for wine tasting! I loved the idea of themed/topics to go along with the flights. I did the Romances of Taylor Swift and it was fun to taste interesting wines while listening to Taylor! The owner was very nice and also told us about other themes they have coming up! I'm not a huge wine person but I did enjoy the small tastes of everything.

This place blew my mind!!!!!!!!!! It's listed as one of the most "Portland" things to do so I knew this would be something weird and awesome and it didn't disappoint. I've never been to a place where they pair wine with things other than food - personality traits, zodiac signs, moods and looks like even TV shows and movies. It's a small cute cozy place with some lovely decorations around with colorful tables and chairs. Perfect for a date! I wouldn't suggest larger groups because there might not be enough space. The day I went, there was a wine flight for the TV show Wednesday and one for Badass women of TV and movies. The wines there are epic! I've never had those wines ever before anywhere and I ended up buying a bottle because it was so good. The gentlemen who served us was also very sweet and explained everything with patience and interest. There is not much food for vegetarians but he was nice enough to make a charcuterie board of all the available veg options including a pickle and some almonds and olives. I absolutely loved this place for so many reasons and I will definitely be going back here to try other pairings. It's such a fun thing to do in Portland!

went in once, had to become members. So charming to go in, have a taster of really complex and interesting wine, chat with the knowledgeable staff -- with a good dose of quirk and woo to boot. A pitch-perfect Portland thing to do.

I have been to wine shops all over the US and Megan is simply greatest energy you can experience in a wine shop. We have met beautiful humans [Tiffany] over tastings and have learned so much while simply enjoying the joys of drinking wine. The love, the care, and personalities are all 10/10 recommend. Whoever enters this space is absolutely in for a treat!

This was such a fun place to go wine tasting! I came here with some friends and we all did the movie themed flight in addition to the fancy pants flight. I love the concept of pairing wine with different interesting things, this week's theme was Christmas movies. The staff are very knowledgeable about the wine while making the entire experience fun and enjoyable. The decorations here are eclectic and unpretentious. Their wines for sale are categorized by price and fun categories such as blue collar, fancy pants etc. I saw they have orange wine here too. I tried several wines on the flights that I've never heard of and really enjoyed everything. There were mainly beer drinkers in our group but they enjoyed the wines as well, so it really says a lot about the thought that goes into picking the wines. My favorite part about the tastings was they had a mystery fancy pants wine where we would taste them and afterwards the label and info about the wine was revealed. They have snacks like olives, cheese and crackers here but we made this our perfect place for drinks before dinner. I'll definitely be back when I'm in town again!

Here for it! This is such a fun place and the owner is down to earth and easy to talk to. The other person working...Amanda? She was also really knowledgeable, willing to talk to us in length about varietals, but is now at a winery. We are going to have to go visit her at her new place. At any rate, I highly recommend tasing here, as Jeff is very knowledgeable. It's a great place to try international wines (something I have trouble with and know very little about ) and see what you like before you buy it. To my surprise I liked 4 of the 6 on the tasting menu which is a record for me! I liked more on this international tasting menu then I've ever liked at any vineyard I've visited! I will definitely be back to try more.

How is it possible I forgot the guy's name that made my wine tasting so enjoyable??!?!We stumbled upon this place after having oysters across the street and couldn't help the weird sign they had outside. Weird things attract me.... & Plus, how could you NOT go in to "Portland's Weirdest Wine Shop & Bar." You come in and you're surrounded by weird/cool things with of course bottles of wine on shelves. I went in for wine tasting and this was MORE fun than going to wineries. I guess not quite, because there's the lack of view, but the variety and experience is cool. I did about 5 tastings which are catered to YOUR likes. He asks a series of questions to get to know your taste buds and see which pairs well with your taste and food. The fact that this is a wine shop/bar, he's able to let you try many of the wines they have so you're not stuck with the same wine. Besides the weird sign outside, I was actually trying to find a bottle of wine that paired well with my salmon and alfredo pasta dinner. And yes, I did end up leaving with a bottle. ****Look out for some wine collaborations they do. In the past they've had Wonder Woman, Game of Thrones, and Buffy the Vampire.

Fun fun fun. This place is pure joy and fun. Maybe not qualities you normally associate with a wine bar/ wine shop, which is why you should spend your time here. On a chill day you can find amazing and interesting tastings of wine that you don't know about but might love. A Macedonian red anyone? Why yes bring it on, it's delicious. The tastings are offered every day and are usually whatever the owner and staff decide to put in rotation. It's always something new and surprising and you have options in terms of pours and price points. All complemented by tastefully assembled nibbles of cheese, almonds and olives. Now let's get to the pairings, while they do food pairings, the thing here is themed pairings. Game of thrones fan? What would Tyrion drink? Come find out at a GOT themed pairing. What wine goes best with Yoda or your favorite Star Wars character. Well they got that too. On New Year's Eve last year they honored musicians we lost by pairing them with wines while their music played in the background. My favorite was the George Michael pairing. There's no snobbery here. Tell them what you like and they'll hook you up. Maybe you want to get your horoscope reading while your there. The owner has you covered. It's fun when someone puts their full personality into something and it jives with your own and many many others. They say they are Portland's weirdest wine bar. But maybe becomes I'm weird ( who isn't), i just think they are Portland's best wine bar.

This place is in my neighborhood and a cute, reasonably priced, cozy space to bring friends for a one on one date or a casual date night! I love the movie and horoscope themed nights and the 12 for $12 wine tastings they do! I get a bottle for around $12-14. They have a little budget section and the staff are super knowledgeable about flavors.

I had waited too long before sipping here. Please don't make the same mistake as I!Pairings Portland offers some of the West Coast's most unique experiences and niche wines. The team does a stellar job at curating a welcoming vibe without the pretension that usually pairs with elevated wine experiences. You can expect an array of themed wine tastings every month or other flights and glasses to enjoy. I stopped in for the Targaryen-themed ten-wine flight with friends. I was blown away at the hard work and detail the team put into the experience, and honestly, I wish I had taken the booklet home with me for a souvenir. We had a variety of niche wines, and I would recommend any of them. It was so hard to choose on bottle purchases that I couldn't buy, so I will have to return once I make a cleaner decision. The staff is great and has a nice balance of attentiveness while giving us space. My only feedback would be that the pours on the flights were very minimal compared to other local spots, but I didn't mind that as much as my group did. I would recommend adding some industry benefits since many of us work in wine and were disappointed to see no bottle discounts or flight discounts, which are also rare in the Portland wine scene.I can't wait to return for another event!
