It's not a bad spot but just a tad strange. It fits right into Portland! I come here because the drinks are cheaper then anywhere and the food is pretty decent. Small burgers so I recommend you get two burgers and fries. It's a neighbourhood bar so it's frequented by locals and people from the sorrounding neighbourhoods but it's not a very diverse crowd. Caucasian-dominant. I got the punk-vibe from both female bartenders and it seems to be a spot for alot of service workers to hang out. Interesting decor inside. I would not mind coming back but that's only because of the cheap drinks! It opens at 4pm every day and you can find the hours on google.

Wow this place is amazing! Prices are cheap while the selection is good! Good is also really yummy! Madison is a great bartender and Aaron is amazing in the kitchen. I'm SURE everyone here is great too, these are just my regular workers. A must-go bar for anyone in the area. tons of space inside, decent space outside. Clean and good Vibes.

When I moved into the neighborhood, this place was called Queen of Hearts. There were always about a thousand motorcycles parked outside, along with a colorful cast of characters from the neighborhood. I never once stepped inside. When Queen of Hearts changed over to Cadigan's Corner, the bikes motored on, but the characters remained. I only went one time, but the experience was intense and memorable, and included a server with a spirit-collecting sword, and a sign that said: "We are not responsible for women left unattended." Among other highlights. So when Old Gilbert took over the spot, I had small hopes, but one leery eye on the door. I've been in a good number of times now, and in comparison to its predecessors, it's fantastic. One generally feels pretty safe, and the flair for the dramatic is low. All in all, it's pretty bare bones. I'm waiting for it to fully develop its personality, but for now its theme to me is: cheap thrills, no frills.

Have you ever been treated like an outsider in your own neighborhood? Have you ever felt like you are not cool enough? Have you ever felt not cool enough while drinking?Great!! If you want to feel like you are out of place, wondering if I wore something wrong, and generally have a feeling similar to being at a high school metal party, in flip flops (at someone's hippy parents house with a Tom Peterson obsession) then stop what you are doing and head over to Old Gilbert. I started coming here when they first opened. It was fine. I was just excited a new place was opening in the neighborhood. It looks cool on the inside as well. Drinks are good and will do the job. Food is better than most in the area too. I can handle being kinda ignored in a bar. Sometimes I prefer it, even. This last time I asked if the Timbers game could be put on the empty tv, and the bartender flashed his Timbers tattoo and said, "it's on next week, you think we wouldn't have it on in a bar with Timbers stuff everywhere?!" I was a little taken aback as to why the man would be getting aggressive with me about not knowing when a game was? I kinda just laughed and played it off like he was joking. I've watched a few Timbers games there last year and the year before and it was me and like two other people.....so I feel like I wasn't asking the craziest question. I like a lot about this bar. But I'm kinda done paying money to be treated like I'm incoveincing people. (Sean is cool)For a bar so newish in the area, you think they would be a little more eager to gain business.

Late night bar food that hits the spot every time. Bartenders that not only know your name when you walk in, but also your order? Makes you feel at home. This bar also gives back to the community and donated a pool table to the local community center, how cool is that? The rotating beer selection is nice, the booze is mixed well, and I love how dark it is inside. They have two pool tables and often have live music. Also, their T shirts are pretty cool. If you're looking for the best dive in SE, this is it!

It's my local spot, so there's a fondness. Though I do see the community throughout, and the service is always friendly. Cheap drinks, good company, newer pool tables are all great amenities. Ignore the haters who are happy to frequent more bougie spots and have no tolerance for true low-brow.

Enjoyed quick pint mid-afternoon. Owner Issack was pretty friendly, had some good stories. Pretty certain it's a late-r night place with live music, etc. But liked what I saw. At a unique corner of 72nd & Harold I think, right by Mt. Scott Park.Opens at 3pm, no sign outside except the word "BAR", a few neons.9 or so taps of beer, good craft selection, cider, cheap beer, and an import. Aptly named Cocktails listed on chalkboard. Feels like your friends house, you might not know anyone at the party, but everyone's friendly.Clean restrooms, street parking.

Just another shitty local neighborhood hipster dive bar. Where the service is garbage and cold and unfriendly and the couches are shitty leather falling apart, and most people are outside smoking so it looks busy. Went in on a Friday night and it was pretty dead. Seems as tho they have live music sometimes or karaoke maybe?... The food menu is decent for the whole situation. The do have pool tables, 2 to be exact. Very limited drink selection as well as about 6 beers on tap. Not bad if you just need a watering hole close to your house. I'd only return because it's close to my friends and they have pool tables(.75 cents a game not bad)

We have been here twice for breakfast. The first time we waited over an hour for bacon, as the waitress told us the owner had not prepped it due to a party they had the night before. No food was offered as complementary as we waited and waited. Once we got our breakfast - our fried eggs were hard as a rock. No refills were provided. There was only one other table in the place. We wrote this time off.Next time- we came at 10:05( right after they opening- the waitress asked us to go back outside for 5 min. So we all walked outside then she came out and told us we could come in?We were the only people in thereDiet Coke was out of syrup. No offer was made to change it, just got a water instead. Then again no refills offered but waitress offered a pitcher of water which she never brought. Ordered breakfast and oddly enough scones were provided to "hold us over" so I'm not sure if the chef has her timing down?Food came out within a reasonable amt of time. Again fried eggs hard as a rock. The special we ordered had cheese in it, where the waitress then told us the cheese smelled off and she couldn't serve it to us.:/. The bacon came out and was grey and tasted off. No one ate their meals. The waitress didn't comp anything, but noticed we were not pleased. We would never come back here again for food or service.
