Norma Jean, Let's talk about it!!!Indoor/outdoor seating optionsLet start with the serve yourself water station from a bucket. Little weird, and I didn't like it as I wasn't cold, no ice.Out with the kid for dinner before her big day...... they enjoyed the Oxtails (1 jerk and 1 smoothered), collard greens mix veggie, and beans & Rice. They finished their entire plate!!!I asked for chicken and shrimp Cajun plate. Welp, no chicken available, so I was offered brisket. Asked for honey butter cornbread, yup not available. Before I ordered, I asked for the Cajun sauce to be removed. I was advised it has little kick but not spicy. Let's just say it was a dish I couldn't enjoy or eat. I ate 2 noodles and needed an entire cup of water. I ate the shrimp and a few penne pasta noodles and a few cubes of meat.I ordered the fried shrimp from the picture on Googlereview. Let me just say what I got served looks as if the grease needed to be changed. They came out grayish, and I know it wasn't seasoning. They saw it didn't look right but served it to me anyway. I would not recommend it. I wasn't impressed with the food. The vibe was off. I didn't feel welcomed when we entered the location. And we were the ONLY paying folks seated in the restaurant. Total disappointment!The restroom are shared with other businesses attached to the location at the rear.

Our after anniversary dinner with friends. The place wasn't prepared for the Crowd so they left and we stayed. Limited workers but we made it happen. The food choices made it hard to make a selection. Due to my limited options of foods I can eat I went with the oxtail starter and dinner with the crawfish étouffée. My husband got the blackened salmon with a side of greens and Mac n Cheese. My guest went with the surf and turf pasta. One had brisket and the other got chicken with shrimp. The food was good but got cold really quickly. It's hidden in a neighbor and a must try if you're in the area. The atmosphere is welcoming and great for groups.

This review is during their Grand Opening as they are still getting their crew together and drinks program up and running. I wish I hadn't felt too weird to photograph inside because they made it so pretty with the purple and the lighting -- check out Eater's photos and article. We sat outside and ordered the Smothered Oxtails and the Jambalaya Mac. We were hungry and forgot to take photos but they sure were pretty! Got the cabbage & collards with smoked turkey for one side, and mixed veggies for the other. Everything tasted SO GOOD. I was eating those oxtails with my hands to get it all off the bone -- didn't want to miss a bite! The sauce was heavenly, the grilled veggies were damn near perfection.The Jambalaya Mac was really tasty, lots of meat (shrimp, andouille AND chicken!) and those roasted red peppers really did a thing. It was great with the Mac, I love that concept. Looking forward to coming back when the liquor is delivered and we can try the crab dinner and the aged ribeye. Mmm!

If you are craving soul food, definitely stop by this place. Everything I tasted was delicious, including the shrimp, collard greens, corn bread, and the hennessy cocktail. The owner was very kind and born and raised in the neighborhood. The restaurant is spacious and you can see into the kitchen, which I always think is a good sign for a spot making fresh food.

Booked the banquet room to do a buffet style lunch for my mother's celebration of life after her funeral and it was awesome! The owner was accommodating and the food was fire!White people that worked with my mom were even going back for seconds and thirdsThe ribs, greens and mac n cheese were my favs! The food was hot and delicious and I'll be back wit a date or even by myself just to sample more off the menu on a regular business night

The food is a real hit or miss. Some days its good and some days it's over seasoned. The waitress seldom gets the orders right. The place is swarming with flies and and the decor is tacky and no thought put into its decor. I don't see it being in business longer than maybe a year.When you order be prepared to sit for a while, it too over an hour to get our food. Then the order wasn't even correct. They truly fold under pressure. The staff is nice... but I want hot good consist food.This is NOT THE PLACE.

I had the unpleasure of eating here with family from out of town over the holidays we ordered our food and not only was it the WORST SOUL FOOD IVE "EVER" HAD or eaten it was straight out of the MICROWAVE we sent 2 of the dishes back because they were cold and my small plate of Oxtails were SMOTHERED in 40 weight gravy yuk yuk yuk you couldn't taste anything bit the gravy, And to top it off I called trying to explain the situation several days later after the holidays And was confronted by thee RUDEST MANAGER IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY not only was she was not sympathetic she was combative which made my dining experience 2 times worse, So with all of that being said save yourself the heart ache and go somewhere else for your soulfood experience I would not rate this restaurant even a 1 star but I had to do so to leave this review when the cooks name Is Mike and his last name is wave AKA microwave you need to run as fast as you can..

Food was not edible, pictures don't look like food served. False advertisement. My ribs were burnt black, tuff and tasted nothing but burnt char.Mac and cheese was old and not fresh very dried out like it had been rewarmed 10 times, the greens were full of thick stems, red beans and rice the rice was undercooked and crunchy and the beans were ice box cold in the middle this is how I know the foods not fresh but old and rewarmed. I sent the owner a message letting him know my disappointment thinking he would reach out and try to make this right but the message showed read with no response. Plus he went on face book to assassin my character because I said the food was not for me. He then follows and posts a threatening message on Facebook. Very unprofessional, false advertisement and does bad business with lack of customer service. I read the prior reviews and there have been a lot of unsatisfied customers

Great food and drinks chicken waffle potatoes on point my favorite dinner is the Mac and cheese brisket

Food was terrible. It took for ever for my family to get service but the staff was very friendly and nice.
