Nicholas Restaurant

First time here and it didn't disappoint. Our server, Nam, was extremely accommodating and friendly.Best Lebanese food I've had so far.Their Baba Ghannoush was to die for. Good food, great service, reasonable price .. you can't go wrong.

We hadn't eaten at Nicholas in a very long time and probably won't be back again after our most recent visit for lunch here. The best part of our meal was the bread and veggie mezze appetizer (mixture of hummus, eggplant, and labneh dips). As for our meals, the yellow rice was over-salted, really wet and mushy and had no other flavor besides salt. A few in our party couldn't eat the rice even though we were all pretty hungry from sitting down for a late lunch. Kale salad was bland but edible. Chicken shawarma was probably the best part of my entree. Our server was kind of forgetful, needing to be reminded to bring beverages for two in our party, needing to be asked for water refills (so thirsty from the rice), and reminded about an order of pita that was forgotten. I'm not sure if it was because we were seated upstairs, but the restaurant didn't seem that busy at the time. They did discount our order a bit because of the rice. Ordinarily when asked how everything is, I give the perfunctory reply that everything is good, but this was beyond the level of overlooking. They did also give us a complimentary dessert (possibly for the service hiccups?), which was nice.

Got a good dinner at this local favorite that has a few locations, including this one in Buckman. It has similar charm to other other locations. Nicholas Restaurant is proudly family owned and operated. Has the classics. There's meaty as well as vegetarian options such as falafel. A few years ago they opened their newest location. It's got a pretty similar menu. There's indoor seating and the heated patio. Got some of the healthier options on the menu. There's a pretty good variety. It's about $9 for the Falafel Balls. These are made with onions, parsley, and spices. Crispy on the outside while chewy on the inside. It's about $9 for the Tabbouli Salad. This is seasoned with lemon, mint, olive oil, onions, parsley, quinoa, and tomatoes. Had a pretty healthy meal. It's the newest location of this local restaurant located on SE Madison at 11th Avenue in an area that's not the prettiest but pretty safe. There's plenty to get for both meat eaters and vegetarians.

A Portland classic for Mediterranean! We have been going here for 10+ years, and recently stopped in after quite a while.We always love the giant pita and delicious zaatar dip that comes along with it. We got the vegetarian mezze platter and the veggie kebab plate. The mezzes were delicious, with creamy and lemony tzatziki, a warm spinach pie, hummus, bright tabbouleh, and two falafels. The kebab had really delicious veggies cooked to a tee, with a spicy and sweet red sauce, toum (the star of the show), and tahini. It was paired with lentil rice.The ambiance is beautiful, with tall blue arches and curtains on each of the booths! They do have two locations, and the other location has a lower ceiling and looks a bit more traditional.In terms of service, they seemed pretty packed when we arrived and we had trouble getting ahold of our waiter. We were missing key items like plates and silverware unfortunately. Additionally, I will say the portion sizes have definitely decreased a lot. We used to get huge plates of mezze and rice, but probably due to COVID / rising prices, the quantities have dropped a lot. I enjoy the variety, but some of the items are not as delicious or fresh as I remember. Maybe it's nostalgia :) Definitely give it a visit! An enjoyable spot for sur

The food is always so flavorful and mouthwatering delicious. I was very happy with my order. The quality and quantity are well worth the price point. The atmosphere is inviting and warm. I love the smells, as they creep from the kitchen. Good amount of seating and the staff are very attentive. Make sure to try their desserts and the mango drink... so good! I always bring my friends and family from out of town to this location! Cheers!

We chose to eat outside so that we can have our dog with us. I got a look inside which was nicely decorated, colorful and inviting. We ordered the muhumra (red pepper and walnut spread) and minced lamb with hummus. The muhumra was savory and rich from the walnuts and the drizzled oil on top. The hummus had pine nuts sprinkled on top with some kind of fresh green sauce on the minced lamb which also was savory and filling. I wanted more of the green sauce to balance out the dish more. The complimentary, freshly baked bread made our meal complete and I enjoyed our meal. Next time I will sit inside and enjoy the ambiance with ac :)

Ordered for take out because I was craving baba ghanoush, and this place got good reviews.We ordered baba ghanoush, extra pita, and the chicken shawarma plate.The food here was really flavorful, and the baba ghanoush definitely hit the spot! I really miss true chicken shawarma from home where they literally carve it off of the rotisserie, but that doesn't seem to be something that is found in the area.The pita here is massive, perfect for dipping! The baba ghanoush had a good smoky flavor, so I would definitely come back for it I've never had Jasmine rice at a Lebanese place so I thought that was interesting.The food held up really well even though the drive home was quite long due to a cargo train passing. There is a parking lot in front, but only a few are free for Nicholas. There is street parking, which is great!I am interested in coming back and trying out the other menu offerings!

Thoroughly enjoyed my dinner here! The food was great as was the service. We were seated immediately and checked on often as we tried to decide what we wanted to order. Once we did order, food came out quickly. We ordered quite the spread starting with cocktails and the Vegetarian Mezza, then the Lebanese Sesame Cheese Pizza, Beef Kafta Kabob Plate, and finishing with both the traditional Baklava and Peanut Butter Chocolate Baklava. Just about everything was a winner, and the portions were huge! We shared everything amongst 3 of us and walked out with plenty of leftovers. Favorites were of course that complimentary massive pita to start, the Beef Kafta Kabob Plate and the toum that was served with it - it was some of the best toum I've ever had, and both baklavas. The Lebanese Sesame Cheese Pizza was also really good, though I think I'd order one with more toppings next time. We also all enjoyed the Mezza, it just didn't shine quite as brightly as some of the other dishes.

Such yummy food and cocktails! The portions are good and I love the bread that comes with every meal. The dessert is good too. Staff is super friendly also

I cannot recommend this Lebanese restaurant enough! We recently catered for a high school banquet, and from start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The owner personally assisted us with our order, ensuring everything was tailored perfectly to our needs. Not only did she provide great guidance on menu choices, but she also gave us a generous discount and went above and beyond to make sure we received top-notch service.The food was absolutely delicious--flavorful, fresh, and a hit with everyone at the event. Each dish was a standout, from the savory kebabs to the vibrant mezze, and everything in between. We've received so many compliments and will absolutely be working with them again in the future. If you're looking for quality Lebanese cuisine with outstanding service, look no further!
