I visited this restaurant randomly on the first day of my trip, and it turned out to be the best decision. The meal was so memorable that I couldn't stop thinking about it for the rest of my time in Portland. I even considered going back, but ultimately decided to try other spots in the city--though I left regretting not returning. My boyfriend and I mainly ordered nigiri, and every piece was a delight. There wasn't a single disappointment that night. The chef was fantastic, and his suggestions were spot-on. The food and ambiance were truly exceptional, making this a standout experience.

Talk about an awesome experience! The staff were very helpful in explaining various aspects of our meal (why the sake was poured to overflowing, for example) and provided great recommendations. We got the shishito peppers, oysters on the half shell, and the Nemo and Japanista (sp?) maki, as well as glasses of the Seven Spearsmen. Of the two rolls, the Japanista was my favorite, but the Nemo was still delicious. If I could eat here every day, I would. Alas, I don't live here, but I look forward to future trips to Portland and Masu Sushi.

Food was amazing, high quality sushi! Our waiter provided such insightful service in helping my husband make a drink selection; my husband didn't end up liking the original original drink choice, but the waiter was so kind enough to switch it out for him with ease. Also love the dark ambience, it's romantic we went for our anniversary dinner

The sushi had good flavor, and the chef's skills were evident. The rice was perfectly cooked. However, the calamari portion was small and only mediocre in taste. Overall, the restaurant has a beautiful ambiance and offers good service, but the food was average.

Came here for my moms birthday recently and had a great time! Nice ambiance, loved sitting by the window and people watching. Quick and friendly service from the staff and our server gave us good recommendations of dishes to try. We started with their tempura, (definitely add more shrimp they were perfection!) and shishitos that had a nice miso sauce. Then we had several types of nigiri, the scallop was my favorite and a few maki, of which I loved their rip city that had spicy tuna, shishito tempura, avocado, topped with hamachi, green onion, habanero masago, finished with garlic ginger ponzu. Both of the chefs plates we tried were good, but of the tuna tataki and king salmon den, the salmon was by far my favorite dish of the night. Did not end up ordering dessert as we had birthday cake at home, but our server still brought my mom a candle to blow out lol.

We went during dumpling week and loved it. This is officially our favorite sushi place in Portland. The service is always great and they are really helpful with recommendations for ordering. It's easy to miss, upstairs through a small door with cool red walls!

What a gem. As a native Portlander I am slightly embarrassed O had never been here, especially when I learned it has been there for 21 years. Under new management following Covid, it's not managed by a hands on family and you feel it. The inside is simple and beautiful with a warm yet industrial vibe. I sat at the bar and received fantastic service from Young who help d me navigate the menu and made me an incredible cocktail. Their version of a whiskey sour that was light and delicious and paired perfectly with my order. The salmon rillete was as one of the best bites I have had in years. I was blown away. What followed was an interesting roll modeled after a Vietnamese spring role. And some Karrage bother tasty but that salmon rillet stole the show. I will definitely be going back because the menu was so interesting. I have to try more. It is a little spendy but that bite was totally worth it. Side note don't let the strange and unassuming front entrance fool you. It's beautiful inside. Go in.

I have been to Masu Sushi twice now, and it has been one of my favorite sushi experiences each time. The restaurant is so pretty inside, with great upstairs views and calm understated atmosphere. The sushi is excellent with so many choices, and unique specials. Service has been impeccable. And creative desserts have really added to the experience. They also have an EXTENSIVE sake list. Will be a regular here.

Holy Cow like wow! The Kamatoro was outstanding. The scallops, a wonderful buttery way to die. The seaweed salad so nourishing and divine. Miso a great way to start. The tokyo drop mocktail hit all the notes. All in all the perfect symphony with a sunny window dappled light setting to boot. Thanks Masu. Maybe our fifth time and they'll certainly be a six.
