Terrible ordering system. Takes long, and there is one screen for the entire restaurant. Give me some real paper menus?

I've only ever been to the Master Kong on Division (and have gotten take-out countless times), so I really wanted to give this new location a try! Located on right on Hawthorne, this place is the perfect place to find some comforting food. This location is the newer of the two Master Kongs and you can tell when you walk in. The restaurant is more spacious, with higher ceilings, has a neat light-up logo that shines on the floor as you enters, and a big kiosk for you to order. My boyfriend and I came one morning to find a cure to our hangover and this was the perfect spot. They have so many comforting foods from noodles to congee to dumplings. We ordered the chicken congee, the xiao long bao, and the wonton soup at the kiosk. After ordering, we chose our own table to sit at and staff brought out our food. Service was kind and very fast. Everything was delicious and I would say that the quality at both restaurants are pretty similar (and from what I remember, their menus are identical). Consistent quality and amazing food. Highly recommend.

A causal and cheap Chinese spot with quality dishes that were very generous in portion. We went as a big group so we got a spread of things: Jian Bing, Short Ribs Congee, Wonton Noodle Soup, Meat Folder, Chicken Dumpling, Sesame Noodles, Scallion Pancake, and Pan fried Dumplings. Everything was delicious! I particulary loved the Congee. It got the perfect texture and was not bland at all. The ribs were also soo tender. You can tell that everything was made fresh to order. The dumplings were all juicy and fried items were nice and crispy.Definitely up there for Chinese food!

Ooof! This place is exceedingly delicious. It's too tasty. The dumplings, the congee, the steamed buns and the beef soup was one of the stars of the meal. Rich broth, not overly salty, perfect spice, and a deep flavor. The congee was thick and rich despite being simple ingredients, and with the other dim sum this has become my new favorite Chinese restaurant.

Great Chinese food! One of the most authentic we've found in the area. Service is attentive and friendly. In a way that you want to support this small business. Water spinach was especially delicious. ALWAYS get these if they're in season!Food is all served on take-away disposable containers with single use utensils. So keep that in mind if you're concerned about the environment - Or, y'know, if you just enjoy eating from real dishes.

This is a true Cantonese experience in Portland! High quality food and plenty of options. I grew up in Hong Kong and have been looking for authentic food. I would totally recommend and come back to Master Kong.

Do not sleep on master Kong! This little unassuming restaurant is absolutely delicious. When you walk in the floor plan is open with plenty of seating and you can watch the food cooked fresh in front of you. Service was friendly - definitely a family run business. My top pick was the Chinese style potstickers and the sesame noodles. We will be back! Parking is limited.

Great customer service from the moment we stepped through the door. They have a kiosk you can order from and the waitress checked with us if we had any questions. She also asked where we would like to sit so after we order our table already has water for us. Cups, spoons, forks, and chopsticks are available at each table. Chili oil and soy sauce vinegar mix are packed in sauce containers. My girlfriend and I ordered the meat folder, beef brisket noodle soup, Chinese style pot stickers, and salted chicken congee. For the price of 11 I was surprised how much beef was in the soup and the handmade noodles were delicious. The pot stickers were crunchy and filled with meat. We were so full that later that day was when we were able to eat the meat folder which was packed with meat and well seasoned. I wish I can do a 4.9 review as the only downside was the salted chicken congee was plain. My girlfriend had to pour in some soy sauce vinegar mix for flavor.

Not what I go for as far as eating out, but it's a go-to when I'm too sick to make congee for myself.Their XLB isn't horrible.

An unassuming, but FANTASTIC spot right around the corner from "I Want Seconds"We walked in on the way back to our car and were drawn to the selection and large screen ordering system, with big photographs showing each menu item in great detail. We picked three things off the menu, although we could have selected much more.steamed bunsChinese style pan fried dumplingsnoodles with chicken and peanut sauceThere is also a whole stack of extra sauce options by the register, including their most excellent peanut sauce! Our order came out within minutes, each order was generous and easy to share among three people. We even had food left over, enough for a whole meal the next day.Great spot, definitely check it out!

Great spot for some comfort food! It definitely gives you more of a family owned establishment. When you enter there are a few tables, I believe there were a few more in the back but it was relatively empty when we came in so it was pretty quiet. The spot is kind of tucked away on Hawthorne, it's a hidden gem. My boyfriend and I walked in without a reservation for a quick dinner, and were quite amazed. The prices are beyond fair, and to our surprise the portions were HUGE. We were not expecting so much food, and honestly, we probably over ordered. We got 6 items, the xiao long bao, Chinese potstickers, salted pork rib congee, beef noodle soup, meat fold (not pictured), and then some other dumplings. The sauce they give you is very light and not salty at all. The meat inside all of the dumplings were seasoned nicely! I'm used to establishments not doing that, and overcompensating with a saltier dip. So I was pleasantly surprised. My favorite was the congee! I'm not sure what type of rice was used, maybe broken rice? It was the perfect consistency and flavor that really warmed you up. My boyfriend loved the beef noodle soup, the beef was super tender! Next favorite was the Chinese style pot stickers. The crunch layer was perfect, a good thickness and crunch not soggy at all. The xiao long bao were okay, still overall good. The other dumplings were good too. The meat bun fold I had the next day and it was soo delicious. The flavors were spot on. Will definitely be back to try some more things.
