Ma Now Thai Cuisine

I've been here about 3x now, so I can give my honest review. My ideal spot it Red Onion all the way in PDX, I think the menu and food is quite similiar in taste and standard. Even their menu layout is comparable. First time I came, I went via door dash walk in pick up order. It was quick and easy and food tasted fresh and delicious. My to-go meal was pad Thai and beef traditional fried rice.Second time, I went it was a Tuesday at 12:30pm, we got there right on time, it was still lunch time right before the lunch rush. As we were getting served our food the people were pouring in. Even with the lunch rush, we were periodically checked on.Third time, Thursday at 11:30am, I thought we were so close to open it was going to be dead. There were already a few people seated. They seated us right away, but then the lunch time people came by the dozens. It seemed hectic to even get our order, no refills or check in with our table. I had to stand up, to go to the Bar to let them know I was ready to pay, that's how busy they were. All seats were practically filled. It seemed like only 2 waiters/servers. Getting boxes was a hassle but they remained kind throughout the lunch rush. As far as the food goes, it came out great everytime. The only downside in my opinion was that, the shrimp fried rice has the tail on, preference is tail off.But definitely will be going back!

A Portland favorite! Always delicious and the ambiance is beautiful. Fast and pleasant service, with great portions. And you can shop at Tanasbourne after too!The fresh spring rolls are a family favorite, always prepped perfectly and the accompanying peanut sauce is a star. You can't go wrong with the mains too! Some of my favorites are the noodles (khao soi is a star, and pad Thai / pad see ew are always delicious), the soups (tom kha and tom yum are excellent--order spicy for even better), and the spicy basil fried rice is awesome. The khao soi in particular is so good, with chewy egg noodles, a rich and flavorful yellow curry broth, crispy fried shallots and noodles, pickles, Thai basil, and more. The portion is huge. They are also able to make it vegetarian, and you can enjoy it with the fried tofu or some veggies.

Good, authentic Thai food. They have a lunch special. It's highly recommended that you visit. I'll come back soon.

Pad Thai had an interesting vinegar taste, too much Tamarind, wasn't my favorite pad Thai I've ever had. Peanut sauce helps disguise the taste. Spring Rolls weren't what I expected, had woodear mushrooms, not very common to what I've ordered from other restaurants. Crab Rangoons were under filled in my option, tasted old and chewy, not crispy. Probably won't eat here again unfortunately.

Ordered the mango sticky rice, mangos were becoming brown and spoiling, sticky rice itself was not cooked properly. I found a piece of green onion in the rice.

Ordered tofu-veg red curry togo. Gave me a chicken-red curry even when I stayed there to ensure that I am getting the correct order but just stopped short of checking the food myself. Drove back all the way to get it replaced and then, he gave back to me the same half used rice. NO APOLOGIES. There is 1 guy serving ~30 people including the togo orders. The phone seems to be deliberately shut off. So, there is no way to reach them if there is something wrong with the order. Who knows what else is going on inside the kitchen when they seem to be such short-staffed. This was my go to place for thai food but the FOOD QUALITY AND THE QUANTITY has been going down gradually. I would avoid it in the future.

The tofu salad rolls are fresh and their peanut sauce is savory. But the pineapple fried rice with tofu / veggies and brown rice is really what set it apart for us. Everything went so well together, looked great and tasted amazing. It was so good I forgot to take a photo till the end We finished everything on that plate. The brown rice is different than the regular brown, which absorbed the spice really well and made it even more filling, without missing out on flavor. I decided to try it today with the brown rice and it's well worth it. Definitely recommend trying! Also I ordered 4 out of 5 on spice and it's exactly what you'd expect - hot but not insufferable so I can only imagine how crazy 5 is lol Also service was amazing, our lady was really nice and accommodative and took care of us, and the ambience is great and very cleanIf you are near the Tanasbourne or Hillsboro area and are feeling some Thai, this is definitely the place to go!

MA - NOW THAI CUISINE[Address]: 2225 NE Allie Ave, Hillsboro, OR 97124Most of Thai restaurants in PDX are decent, but Ma-Now has a much better menu. I tried:-Papaya salad-Ma now chicken wings-Curry noodles-Soft crab curry-Glass noodle pad ThaiI can't recommend just one item.(lol)Also @thestreetsoftanasbourne there is a lot shopping and entertainment to spend the whole day there.

Food portions are great, our favorites are Pad See Ew and Sweet and sour. The service is cordial and they bring extra rice all the time. We've visited it dozens of times through the years.

I have been to this place few times. They are classy! Everything is very satisfying from the time you walk-in. The interior is modern, slightly dimmed and very welcoming with good space between the tables. Excellent quality napkins, high-end real chopsticks and silverware, and very clean everything. Every time I had very cordial fast service and delicious reasonably priced food. And yes, the food is fantastic! Many great choices and their Golden Squid and the Sticky rice mango are the best in town :) What else to expect from a restaurant? 5 Stars hands down.
