We hadn't been here since covid which had tainted our desire to come back (outside seating only or take to go).The only thing that I don't typically like having to do is pay before being served & fed but the service was so quick and pleasant. Our food and drinks came out within 10 minutes of being seated. (The water is fill yourself at the front, which I prefer because the worst thing is when you're parched and the servers not there)The portion side of the pho and rice plate were plentiful. The broth of the chicken pho is probably my top in terms of flavor. Typically we prefer beef broth with the chicken but this shh was hittin. The chicken was juicy and was shlappnThe lighting was dim and I enjoyed the playlist so it was a calm lil fitI wish we didn't have to deal with fruit flys tryna land on our food thoThe tropical paradise was sturdy but didn't realize it had honey dew, maybe we're just dumb ? idk but I liked it but my p i c did notI liked the chicken wings but the texture may be considered too rubbery for some but I love chicken so it ain't bother this brotha

I've had several great meals at Luc Lac during my trip to Portland. The food is healthy and delicious, served in a colorful and funky environment. My favorite dish is the peanut curry stir fry with tofu, served over rice and greens. It's a hearty portion, sure to satisfy your hunger! The only thing I don't love about this place is that the ordering can take a long time, and it occasionally fills up so you have to wait to place your order. However, the food is so delicious that it's worth the wait. Also, once you place your order, your meal is ready in minutes!

I wasn't too hungry but my girlfriend ate her so all I had was a side of sugar cane shrimp and a coconut water. However, it was fantastic! I'm glad I ordered it and would definitely do so again.I also appreciated that they had coconut water watermelon water as drink options - that's rare!

We must have gotten lucky because the line wasn't too long when we got there. And the staff made efforts to get the line moving more efficiently, very much appreciated. We ordered the papaya salad, pho brisket, and signature luc lac. The papaya salad was amazing. Definitely recommend. Super refreshing yet savory and satisfying. My boyfriend enjoyed his pho, but pho is pho to him, he didn't seem blown away, but it did hit the spot. He does recommend the pho. The luc lac was quite a let down, unfortunately. The beef was too tough even though they cook it medium-medium rare l. The flavor was lacking with how it was marinated/seasoned. The red rice it came with was a bit dry and the salad accompaniment had a dressing that was much too tart and didn't pair well with the plain meat flavor. Overall, absolutely do not recommend this dish, and it's a shame since it's the name sake of the restaurant. You would think this is their star recipe.

A hip and lively ambiance that for a Monday evening had a good number of people dining. A very popular spot as it was one of the few places open later in downtown Portland.Luc Lac - This one was just all right and wouldn't see myself getting this again for how much this is. The meat was tough and didn't taste a lot of the seasoning.Nem Nuong Sausage Vermicelli Bowl - the bowl itself was solid and the sausage was defiantly more flavorful and in a way juicier than the beef tenderloin in the Luc Lac. Coconut Prawns - I think they came out a little burnt? It was just okay. I can't complain about the service though, decent experience, but food was just all right.

Luc Lac has a decent selection of food and a fun and funky atmosphere. We had the following: - papaya salad: very fresh and flavorful, large portion- tofu banh mi: fresh, but the tofu was lacking in flavor; it came with a salad instead of the advertised shrimp chips- coconut shrimp: skip these; they're flattened, butterflied shrimp that have lost any succulence- their specialty bourbon sour: the highlight of the meal!

Food: very delicious and the portion is good! If you like vermicelli, remember to get yourself a bowl! I ordered combo to try all the toppings, personally I rank pork, shrimp, chicken and then nem nuong for balanced flavors and texture overall.Service: there's a Que all the time, so better find a good parking lot before you come. It's faster than we thought as the time was around 4th of July. Besides ordering and serving foods and drinks, the rest is self service with utensils and water.Ambiance: it's very viby with the neon and cypher punk-ish colors. Definitely instagrammable and made for people who are looking for somewhere interesting to dine.

I've ordered takeout for pick up from Luc Lac before a long time ago and this is my first time dining in. Let me tell you: this place is a VIBE. The sign board menu, the beautiful and intricate wall and ceiling decorations, plus the red lighting all contribute to the unique dining experience. I think if you have the option of dining inside I would definitely recommend it!Everything is simple and straight forward and they have posted clear instructions as well. You order at the counter with the friendly staff and they will assign you a table to sit at. It was great that as a group you can all pay separately ahead of time and they will note that you would like to sit together at the same table. There is also a QR code to scan to order at the table too if you want to put in additional orders after you sit down. The water station and utensils are right by the ordering counter. Easy peasy. Now the food: we only went in for drinks and apps so I can only speak for those this time but we were very happy with what we ordered. For cocktails - the Sassy Sour was the perfect balance of sweet and sour with a hint of spice and I got the Asian Vacation which was tropical with a strong chrysanthemum tea taste. The Crispy Pork Roll came as soon as we sat down still hot and freshly fried, and the chicken wings came shortly after. The wings were fish saucy and sticky in the best way possible, and the crunchy and refreshing papaya salad added freshness to our meal.Other table's pho and vermicelli bowls looked good so I'm excited to come back to try other dishes next time!

what has this place become??.. I have been living in Portland for 15+ years and Luc lac used to be my go to lunch and happy hour spot. Hadn't been since Covid and since it's become this "destination" "must visit" joint. Decided to try it out tonight and it was a total let down. 1. combo bowl, everything from rice to meats were dry. The dipping sauce was the only thing that was not dry..2. broth is on the sweeter side and knowing this, I ordered a side of broth and that was okay. 3. Wings were small and the taste was underwhelming 4. Papaya salad was flavorless and comparable to a plate of spring mixCome in, snap a photo, if you must check it off the list. Go somewhere else for food.
