As with most places in the time of Covid, it's been a while since I visited Leroy's. On my most recent visit, they were open, with a sign in the window saying that orders are accepted in the bar at the Landmark Saloon, the building on the property where Leroy's cart sits.I was in search of a sandwich, and the menu on the wall in the Landmark had three options available. They were (1) tri tip, (2) pork butt, and (3) sausage with onion and peppers. All three sounded good, but I was disappointed not to see my all-time Leroy's favorite, the pulled pork.I chose the pork butt, and, though it wasn't what I had come in search of, it turned out to be delightful. The crunchiness of Leroy's slaw provided a perfect contrast to the moist, slightly chewy consistency of the pork. There was just enough pepper in the sandwich to add a bit of zing without being overpowering.Hopefully the pulled pork will return to the menu at some point, but in the long run, I would never balk at choosing the pork butt again, or trying either of the other 2 sandwich choices.

Neighborhood gem. Happened upon Leroy's while walking down Division. Pork spare ribs were excellent. Bar next door (this place is in the patio) has all the drinks. Great lunch.

Unassuming food cart in the outdoor area of the Landmark Saloon Bar. Really, really delicious and not at all heavy (surprising because it's Southern comfort food). I got the smoked pork loin (freshly smoked, yum!) w/ applesauce, grits, and collard greens & $12.I wasn't in the mood for BBQ, but I did want some good food. Success!

I can't even remember if I liked the food. I vaguely remember it being average. I've tried coming here several times because it's close to home and it has only been opened once. The one time it was open it was daytime. I don't know why it says it's open until 1am if they shut it down every day by dusk? Probably because it's a requirement to serve food if you serve alcohol here. I think they lie about it being open so they can keep serving drinks at the bar. I just wish they would change the hours on here to reflect when they are actually open.

Let's start off with location.. I don't think you'd want to bring your family here. It's located next to a saloon, and they share an outdoor space with it, it's filled with smokers and drinkers. I'm not a smoker or drinker myself and just didn't like the atmosphere it gave off, I don't enjoy cigarette smoke being blown in my face! Now for the food.. They must've raised a lot of their prices because I paid a lot for my burnt mac and cheese. The chef was super nice and let me add brisket on top of it. Now, the Mac and cheese was nice and burnt, but flavor wise, it was lacking a lot. I guess that's what the hot sauce was for. My plate wasn't worth the $12 I had just paid, I was still hungry. We also got the red hot sausage sandwich, that came with a side of coleslaw and a few pickles. It wasn't bad, but didn't blow me away, by it sure was spicy! I guess the biggest problem I had was the location, and the fact that the portions didn't justify their prices. Nonetheless, the guy was super nice and helpful.

I am amazed at the proliferation of food carts the past few months on the 48th/50th Street blocks of Division, one of which is LeRoy's.Just two weeks ago I declared that Cheese Bar was my new go-to place in the neighborhood for sandwiches. That's still true, but now add LeRoy's as one of my favorite sandwich places.I was the first customer when Leroy's opened at noon today (open daily 12-7). I placed an order for a Beef Brisket BBQ sandwich, a chicken Po Boy and a side of mac & cheese to take home.As I waited in the cold pouring rain (a typical June day in Portland, it seems) for my order I took a look around the premises. I was curious what kind off business was operating inside the permanent structure on the property. It was hard to tell if it was a junkyard or a plumbing shop. On a ledge next to two burned out fluorescent tubes rested a toilet seat. Near the "Honey Bucket" was a gutted toilet and a crumbling box of plumbing joints.I'm not really sure what the difference is between LeRoy's BBQ sandwiches and their Po boys. Both come in pork, beef or chicken. Both come topped with a perfect mix of chopped cabbage and sliced scallion. Both come on toasted bread. Both have the most excellent barbecue sauce: sweet, but not too sweet, smoky, a little tangy and even a little spicy hot.But most importantly, both sandwiches are stunningly delicious!! The mac and cheese (shell pasta) was pretty good. Served in a little Chinese take-out box emblazoned with a red pagoda, the cheddary mac & cheese was, I felt however, a bit too garlicky and a bit salty.Other sides to try include: black-eyed peas, collard greens, green beans and coleslaw. Also, you can get barbecued chicken thighs, and of course, barbecued ribs.

Leroy's moved. Barely. It's in the lot with The Landmark Saloon. What Leroy's hasn't changed though is their food quality. Gosh darn it, it's still so magically delicious.I ordered the $6 burnt mac & cheese which included a choice of meat; the pulled pork was an excellent additive. The entire dish bursts with flavor. It's a tender, cheesy mess of calories, carbs & protein. If sour cream or chives isn't your liking make sure to let them know because it's part of the mac & cheese. Sriracha is a great way of adding that nice kick to a meal. Their $3 caesar salad is really good but small in portion. The only advice I give to customers is arrive at Leroy's during a non-peak time for The Landmark Saloon. It was probably 20-25 min before my food was ready. Drinking a cold, Sweet Tea vodka, from The Landmark, with a group of friends on a sunny day isn't so bad of a wait but if it were any other day I wouldn't be so patient. The guys are still cool dudes & their BBQ is outstanding.Well done, Leroy's. Well done.

A night of loud music, beer guzzling, and good friends led me to the 48th and Division area for a night of dive bar fun. I don't normally have a good reason to travel to this neighborhood, however a friends band was playing across the street, they rock, so I headed on down. Now before any good night of adult beverages one needs to fill up on some sustainable solids and not being a little boy, I was searching for something to fill me up. In the spirit of trying to avoid the greasy dive bar food, I searched out some local Vittles with the help of Yelp. Now there are some other highly rated carts in the area, but my stomach quickly latched on to the idea of BBQ. Leroy's seemed like the perfect fit, thanks to the Yelper'sThis place is amazing! Shout it out, the food was nothing short of great. I got the Pulled Pork with Mac & Cheese side. See the picture I uploaded. Great portions, the price was awesome, spent $7 on my entire meal and left so full. The Pulled Pork easily is comparable to the best I have ever had, and the Mac & Cheese is scratch made, no boxed or crap deli stuff, this food is for real. There is some seating areas in front among a couple other carts going in. The service was great, polite, and it was wonderful to know the two gentlemen that served us were excited to have us as customers. Why do so many businesses not get that and how important it is? Food easily 5 starService easily 10 star, Location 4 star, just a little fixing up around and will be 5 star. It will be hard to get me to try other carts in the area with this one being so good. Leroy's will be like a magnet to me! (insert poorly sung version of 70's classic song, Magnet and Steel here)

Mix - one part friendly serviceone part burnt macone part smokey, tender ribsTake sweet tea and pour over iceWhat do you get? Damn delicious vittles, that's what!I've had the chance to try just about every meat Leroy's has to offer and it is all wonderful. The pork ribs and the pulled pork are my favorites. Collard greens are delicious. On a sunny day, the sweet tea tastes more like sun tea and it is fantastic! Probably my favorite sweet tea in Portland. I could drink it for days. But the burnt mac is on the next level. Leroy's mac & cheese plus whichever meat you would like, green onions, and sour cream. The meat adds the smokiness. The green onions add some crunch and cut the creaminess a bit. And the sour cream adds richness. Throw some Crystal on it and you are all set. ALL THIS for only $5. So cheap you can afford to get some pork ribs on the side. =)
