A small, cozy spot off of MLK. The staffs and chef were very friendly. We tried the Taste of NOLA that came with four different samplers of Collard Greens, Rice & Beans, Crawfish Etoufee, and Jambalaya. You can adjust the spice level on the Jambalaya and their spicy wasn't too spicy at all. It's very flavorful and full of chicken, shrimp, and sausage. A tad too oily though. The Etoufee was also tasty, milder and creamier. Again, full of fresh crawfish. I liked the Rice & Beans more than I thought! Nicely seasoned. However, the Collard Greens were way too salty...Their Oyster Po Boy was also delicious. Crusty bread. Nicely fried oyster. A little too heavy handed on the mayo for me though.Overall, a good soul food spot in town!

The Gumbo and jambalaya were amazing. The catfish platter was great and the greens had good flavor. My fish platter only had one piece of catfish. When I ordered a platter I expect at least 2 pieces of fish. The banana pudding was freash and delicious. I will be back for sure.

I was very surprised to see this hadn't been reviewed more. This place is wonderful. The food is excellent but the service and friendliness of the staff are what make this place absolutely wonderful! Legit, good po boys can sometimes be hard to come by and not only are theirs absolutely delicious, but you will definitely not leave feeling hungry. Their portion sizes are amazing! The dirty rice....GET THE DIRTY RICE! It's so good with just the right amount of spice (you can get it mild too). Finally, wash it all down with one of there many different options of boozy slushees! If you haven't been here, definitely give it a go as it will not disappoint!Oh! They also serve brunch!

Small, family owned and operated business, the kind you root for. My first experience was overall positive.Service: the owner's mother was very pleasant and customer focused. It seemed like they encouraged take-out, which is understandable. If the business takes off then seating is limited.Mac n Cheese: loved it, clumpy the way I like, good portionGumbo: average, didn't overwhelm, missing some kickÉtouffée: a slight letdown, too watery, prefer it more "stew-like"Collard Greens: excellent, one of the better I've hadCobbler: average, might or might not order againPrices: on the higher end compared to other sit down/carts that offer Southern, Cajun, or Creole. They offer alcoholic cocktails from a machine, the price is around $12. But that's usually the price point for a fresh, handmade one. What's plagued this spot for previous restaurants is the lack of parking. Hope they make it.

I saw this place on Google so I wanted to give it a try but when I got there it was terrible customer service front of house was extremely rude and had a bad attitude 0/10. I order the catfish dinner with 2 sides ; greens and dirty rice I honestly thought it would be way better considering the other reviews but I would give the food itself a 3/10 catfish was not crunchy but had some flavor my two sides were ok the rice lacked flavor and was dry the greens were fine but that was the only thing I enjoyed! SMH a waste of money.

Phenomenal food!!!! Best jambalaya I've ever had in my life!!! (And I've had jambalaya in many places!)Red beans & rice, collard greens, crawfish étouffée, jambalaya. Atmosphere is relaxed and homey, just a few tables - it's a cafe', just as the name indicates. Friendly service! I have driven by a few times and been curious. Then tonight I wandered in to an absolute culinary treasure. If you like soul food, this is IT. The crawfish étouffée had the stuff of "grandma's gravy" -- legit crawfish étouffée. GO IN!!!
