A couple friends and I swung by before and after a Timbers game and it's a sports bar. It was insanely busy during both visits, but they were right on top of things. Our food and drinks came quick. For a $12ish burger, it hit the spot. It was a little small but who isn't selling smaller food these days. The beer was cold and that makes up for the small burger at least.

As one of the city's older bars, Kingston has been showcasing drinks and sports to the Portland area over the last 40 years. It's an easy place to grab a drink and a bite, watch a game, and see some of Portland's finest (#1). Most of my experiences have been both good and bad, so they're naturally somewhere in the middle for me. The place admittedly has more of a dive bar feel than a sports bar but the TVs would say otherwise. The old school vibe is undeniable and it's definitely charming in its own antiquated way. There's always a steady stream of locals / regulars here, which given the affordable prices and eager bartenders, is an easy appeal. They have a nice selection of beers on tap and the drink selection is pretty typical. On the food front, it's hardly memorable, but admirable given all they offer. The wings are incredibly popular and they offer a mishmosh of wings, sandwiches, and finger foods that fit the bar food spectrum. The breakfast selection, such as eggs benedicts + hashbrowns are way more impressive and would be my reason for any future visits.Where they've fallen out of favor with many folks has been their customer service. The last few times I've noticed they're somewhat understaffed, which means almost everything works on a delay. It's easier to ignore this if focused on the TV, but when things take awhile and there's attitude on top of it, then some improvements must be made.___________(#1) Interesting characters, every time.

I've been stopping here for many decades, usually for Sunday morning b'fast or a brew if I happen to be in that area of town in the evening. I'ts a nice, friendly bar. Not quite a dive bar but close. Parking can be iffy although rarely a problem on Sunday mornings or later in the evening. As others have mention, being adjacent to the stadium it is usually packed as soon as a game lets out. If you don't care for people or sports bars (which aptly describes me) best to avoid the joint during prime time.Food is "ok". Beer on tap is what you'd expect. The have a full bar (not that I care). Wall-to-wall TVs tuned to every sports channel on the planet (again, not that I care).Service can be slow. Seems like every time I am there it's just the barkeep doubling as the waitress. Wait staff (almost always a woman) treats me great but seem to be a bit snippy toward female patrons. Why is anyone's guess. Are women poor tippers or something?I don't go here if I am in a hurry so slow-ish service does not annoy me so long as they get that first brew or cuppa Joe to me quickly. There aren't a lot of good dive bars along West Burnside or if they are, I've been happy enough with the Kingston to not go out scouting for others. I tend to like bars that have been around since my Grandfather was a kid so the Kingston suits me just fine.NOTE TO THE MARKETING DEPARTMENT: A paper thin slice of ham is not "A thick slice of ham". Either pony up a bigger slice of pig or change your menu.

As I traveled around the city today I ended up stopping into the Kingston. I drop in on occasion and today I decided to have lunch. I had the Texas chili cheeseburger and tots. It was plenty of food it was cooked perfectly and everything on it worked well together. The place is very clean and the service was wonderful.

It's bar food. Can't have too much of an expectation. Ordered fish and chips. Beer battered was soggy and greasy. Soggy Bc that grease was just sitting on t bottom. But again have low or no expectations. Fries were old and cold. Cole slaw been sitting there for quite some time.

Ignore the website. Prices and times do not match at all. Breakfast Saturday @11:00am (website calls it Early Bird), is not $5.00, not everyday and not all day (as website advertises). The breakfast was cold, hashbrowns, egg and toast, no coffee refills either. Had to chase down salt n pepper and sweetener from another table ourselves. They took out the pinball machines. I will never be back there.

Love coming to the Kingston after Timbers' games with my daughter and her coworkers. Waitress is very friendly and the chicken tenders are delicious. I had two Dirty Shirleys last time and was feeling quite nice after! Atmosphere is great whether the Timbers win or lose.
