We were staying at the hotel so came here every day for breakfast and once for lunch 1. Salmon Benedict with potatoes - this was just okay, understated. I know, I know, I will have diseases but I like when my food tastes like something2. Ricotta pancakes - so freaking delicious! I asked for chocolate chips pancakes and I don't think they understood the assignment because they just sprinkled them on top and charged me $2 for them. The butter tasted very strong for some reason so I really didn't like the butter, which is seemingly weird thing to say, otherwise pancakes were bomb3. Oysters - have not had oysters in at least 13 years and I can't say I understand what it means to be delicious but my cousin says they weren't the best, again, based on what? They are slimey, you out sauce them and then swallow. What is there to judge? 4. Truffle flies - they had literal shaved truffle with shaved Parmesan cheese on the fries. This is literally the first time I have ever had shaved truffle (as opposed to dousing it in flavored truffle oil). They were so good5. Calamari - super tasty! Came with red onions and small jalapeño pieces. Highly recommend6. BLT - Omg it hit the spot in so many ways. The fries were so tasty and crispy7. Bonus was the check-in Yelp gift we got. It was chef's pick and he picked 6 Netart oysters from Netart bay. This is the most raw oysters I've eaten in 13 years lol and now it's consuming me. It was definitely a very nice treat8. Drinks: seasonal latte = pumpkin pie latte with oat milk - so good! Blood orange mimosa - yummy. We also had other drinks one night at the bar that were tasty, including one that the bartender created himself, but forgot the name Service: fantastic Amazing spot definitely worth stopping by even if you aren't staying at the hotel

The option to sit outside is nice as there's a great view of the water. Breakfast was hit or miss. And the service was slow one of the two breakfast days. What I liked : the steel cut oats, side of fluffy scrambled eggs and avocado. Their hash browns were crispy! Okay : Breakfast sandwich - I wished it had a fresh element as it was all on the oily side (cheese, buns, bacon). Soy latte was good one day and served lukewarm on a different day. What wasn't great : the poached eggs on the eggs benedict were overcooked. The smoked salmon in the benny was so thin. The side order of everything bagel with cream cheese was packed to go and I was surprised by the presentation. It might have been better had they smeared the cream cheese on the bagel for me, and personally I wanted more cream cheese.

Not impressed walked over form my hotel to try the oysters with my kids. There is a kids menu but made every excuse to not seat us. As guests of this nice city was very disappointed and I will take my money elsewhere!

Made a reservation while visiting for the weekend though one definitely wasn't needed for a Saturday evening. The setting is lovely on the river. We were able to sit outside which was nice. Unfortunately our table had such a huge wobble that I spend the meal holding down one leg with my foot.My companion ordered fish and chips and I got their farm vegetable risotto. The staff was nice but the wait was almost 45 minutes for entrees with only about a dozen tables seated inside and out. Fish was fine. Risotto was overcooked, a weird mix of seemingly leftover vegetable scraps. Non alcoholic drink options were fun. The biggest issue was the flies. Inside and out they were constantly attacking us. Garbage issue? Not a place we'd return to if visiting again but convenient location and pretty view plus pleasant staff so giving it a mid 3 stars.

Second time in and we liked our food. The bartender greeted us warmly as we entered and our server Elise was cheerful and affable. This trip my family had lunch. We selected the turkey sandwich, the lobster roll, blood orange and passionfruit mimosas & 1 strawberry scone. Everything was decent tasting. The scone was large and had great flavor but was served completely cold and crumbled a bit. It would have been so much flakier and better had it been warm. We love the cozy vibe in this restaurant. I love the charming cloth napkins, and the attractive decor. Additionally the views of the waterfront and city make this place special.Great neighborhood spot, we will definitely return again in the future.

Having one of the best waterfront views in town, it was a fav spot to dine when strolling the marina boardwalk. Giving it another chance, the kitchen has improved their menu & quality. The service is still in training wheels ~ we were told we need to order inside at the bar before sitting outside? The lazy mannerisms of our service throughout the dinner does not reflect the Kimpton brand well. Riverplace used to be known for service. Needs basic training or experienced staff rehaul. The draft beer was past its freshness.

We were staying at the hotel and had breakfast here one morning, so this review is just for breakfast. The restaurant has obviously been remodeled more recently than the rest of the hotel, and that's a good thing. It's a nice and inviting space with beautiful views. The service was superb. The food was just okay. The exception was the chicken and waffles, with the chef's wonderful Peruvian background showing through in the chicken and its delicious pepper sauce (the waffle was just okay). Eggs benedict were disappointing, lacking spicing and richness. This was an okay place. I have no idea what the evening food is like, but breakfast does not have us wanting to make the effort to find out.Just okay. Nothing special (other than the setting and views) and not worth a special trip. At least if breakfast is indicative of the overall food experience.

I stayed at the Kimpton RiverPlace Hotel for two nights last month and dined at King Tide quite a few times and had an enjoyable - and tasty - experience each time! It was helpful that I had a couple of dining credits for being a Platinum Elite IHG Rewards Member and booking my hotel through the Chase Travel Portal. For dinner on my first night, I ordered the risotto which was fine. On the following evening, I very much enjoyed a dozen of fresh oysters and the mushroom toast. I also ordered a mocktail that was so refreshing. I must've been on a mushroom kick because the following morning I ordered the mushroom omelette for breakfast! The vanilla latte was so good and I wanted to order three more but refrained. I loved the omelette, particularly the ratio of mushrooms to cheese, really quite nice! My servers, Cassandra and Laina, were very friendly and attentive. I was seated inside but loved the ambiance and view nonetheless. I know there are so many great places to dine in Portland but I would recommend King Tide if you're staying at the Kimpton or nearby!

Chose here to eat before seeing Wicked. I had the King Tide Benedict which was meh, super bland. For $27 I expect at least an equal to pig and pancake but it was a miss. Table service was good, order to table was slow.
