If you're craving authentic Thai cuisine with a vibrant atmosphere, Khao San is the place to be. Nestled in the heart of downtown, this restaurant is a gem that combines delightful dishes with a fun and bright ambiance.Start your meal with their lychee martini--it's a refreshing twist that perfectly balances sweetness and sophistication. For the main course, don't miss the larb, a zesty minced meat salad that's packed with flavor, and the char-grilled marinated chicken on skewers, which is succulent and well-seasoned.The khao soi, a northern Thai curry noodle dish, is the star of the show. Its rich, creamy broth and tender noodles make it a must-try for anyone looking to dive into genuine Thai flavors. The atmosphere at Khao San is lively and inviting, enhancing the overall dining experience. The service is exceptional--super friendly staff who genuinely care about your experience.Overall, Khao San offers an unforgettable dining experience that's sure to satisfy your Thai food cravings. Highly recommended for both newcomers and seasoned Thai food lovers alike

Cute interior and no wait for 5 on a sunday. The food was good, surprisingly authentic on items like the lao papaya salad. The portions were also pretty big on the house menu. They could be shared if you aren't that hungry.Though the food was good, nothing really stood out to me as amazing. I would try it if in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way to do it.

Khao San Pearl is good Thai restaurant with great decor and food. The service is friendly and good. I've eaten the pumpkin curry and mussamun curry with short ribs and roti. I've also had the Thai tea. The Thai tea is good. The flower on the glass is a great touch. The mussamun curry is flavorful and the roti is tender and flaky. The pumpkin curry is also delicious. Overall, it's a great restaurant to visit in the Pearl District.

Food is delicious!! We had crispy chicken basil. It was so good! Only thing missing to this dish is a side of rice. (I feel like it should be part of the meal) I ended up purchasing a side of rice. Overall the flavor was there.

I was NOT expecting this place to be as good as it was, but as I sit here in my post-meal food coma, I'm happy I stopped by for a late lunch.I had their Khao Soi and it was delicious! The broth was so full of flavor, and then the bowl was overflowing with fresh ingredients, from the chunks of white chicken meat to the egg noodles and veggies.Bonus points for providing such a massive serving, I couldn't make it more than 2/3 of the way through my meal, and I was STARVING when I arrived.Great spot if you're hungry for quick, but still top notch Thai food at a decent price.

The best way to go at it is to go with a group and share everything family style. Because wow, all of these were a must try. The staff were soo friendly, they got the best staff at Khao San! We got the Hoy Joh and the chicken wings to start (not pictured). Both were crispy and flavorful but the Hoy Joh with the dipping sauce is a must try! The pork and shrimp stuffing was greatly paired with crispy tofu skin. The Crying Tiger was cooked well, but must eat it before it goes cold! The dipping sauce was a perfect pairing. The Khao San Holy Basil Chicken is a signature for a reason. Explosive flavors paired with jasmine rice to tame it out. The Khao Soi is a must if you had to pick one dish! Creamy curry with egg noodles and tender chicken. The papaya salad was solid, and you can never go wrong with mango sticky rice.

Love this place! We first discovered it while in Portland for house hunting. Everything on the menu is good from the traditional pad Thai to the spicy crispy chicken basil ((which is a must!). If has a mix of traditional dishes and some street food- portions are generous and the staff is so friendly!

This place was delicious! Came here on a Friday evening, wasn't too busy yet although there were a bunch of people hanging around outside on the tables. Our server was very friendly. Had a pad se ew with tofu, definitely one of the best I've had yet in Portland (albeit I am somewhat new to Thai food). It's also in a great location located next to 10 barrel and the hip coffee shop/lounge next door.
