It was my first visit to Portland Oregon...... and I had done a lot of foodie homework .....Portland they say is famous for the food cart scene, unmatched in this country. They have numerous "Food Pods". And each food pod has several food carts. The hype for these food carts, is that there are around 700 all over the city. Truly amazing. Diverse in food selections. We came down hungry. What was disappointing was we visited several food pods, and found that the majority of them were closed. No action at all. The places were dead at late afternoon. It was around 4:30 pm. Then we found Honey Thai in the 3rd Avenue food pod, and he was open. We ordered fried rice with chicken and spicy beef and beens with rice. Imagine...very cold, we sat on benches across the street in the open and enjoyed this piping hot, freshly made dishes, that warmed our hearts.

Amazing dishes for affordable pricing! A majority of the dishes were $9 including with protein (beef, chicken, tofu, shrimp). I had their Pad Thai Shrimp and Pad Kee Mow Beef that was well cooked. It was a decent portion and the chef also included in an egg roll. The taste for both were not bland nor was it too salty. The spice however wasn't that spicy nor did it have a kick to it like other Thai places I've tried. The mango sticky rice was placed on top of both of the dishes that I'd ordered so I think the coconut sauce melted a lot which made things really sweet because I usually like to add only a bit of the sauce. There was a lot of rice portion beneath the mangoes. The cashier/chef was really nice and we went on a day where the food truck next to theirs wasn't open for the day so there's a nice seating area that's covered where you can eat. Will visit again!

this reminds me of what carts used to be back in the day when you could go to one you didn't have to worry so much about a big tip. You have to worry so much about a big bill. All you had to do was figure out what look the best grab some and eat lean up against the wall. I'm not gonna get started on how all these carts now charge more than some brick and mortar's and then somehow your applied to leave a 20% tip not going there... But what I will say is this classic place is great because for under $15 you can grab two good drinks thai iced teas on our end. And a main dish to share with the more expensive proteins we got shrimp. The food was good. It was hot and fresh and cooked well. This is definitely a new favorite for the area. I will say most of the carts most of the restaurants to get what we got for $14 would've cost us easily 25 and been the same quality or less. This is an absolute must go to specially if you'd like other proteins, then chicken or tofu.

Thai milk tea for $2?! What a steal! I was craving Thai milk tea after eating lunch from a local food truck and came across the Honey Thai Food truck. I asked for light ice with my Thai milk tea. I don't like when my drinks get diluted with melted ice. I also get more of the drink with less ice lol! I tried a Thai milk tea from another local food truck and it was a total bust. It had too much half and half and I could barely taste the tea and the milk. Here at Honey Thai Food truck, the Thai milk tea is super sweet and won't disappoint!

Oh my, Honey Thai! Your food is delicious. Honey Thai Food is one of the food carts located in the food cart pod on 3rd between Alder and Washington. This family owned Thai food cart has been serving delicious food since 2015. They are very hospitable people who treat their customers well. Today I ordered their stir fry veggies with rice. It's a simple dish yet it was quite tasty. The food is prepared fresh as ordered. Service was friendly and quick. If you're in the downtown area wanting Thai food this is a great place to try. They are open all day until 10pm everyday except Friday when they stay open till 11.

Best Thai tea, boba, and sticky rice and mango dessert. We got Thai tea for $2! The water and soda was only $1 as well. If you go down to the Portland Market, you'll pay $2.50 or more for a bottle of water. We came back twice to Honey Thai for drinks! Excellent spot to visit a row of food trucks, too. Stick rice and mango was da bomb!
