Horrible service, horrible food. Have been here twice and hometown taste has shown consistency in food and service. Came with my family of 7, was immediate sat at a table with menus. We waited for approx 20 mins with no water, tea, or even talked to a server, my dad waved one down. The server approach our table and said "patience. What can i get you" was waiting for 20 min not patient enough..? There were 5 other smaller groups dining at this time, so not super busy. Food was mediocre, only two of the dishes were worth mentioning. The salt and pepper squid was soft, soggy and VERY bland. Honey walnut shrimp had barely any sauce. Do not get the fish. Was $45 and barely had any meat. We ordered 7 dishes and was still hungry after, small portions.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. I've lived in this area for over a decade and never tried it previously when it was Chiam, but gave it a shot after it became Hometown Taste. I was pleasantly surprised and happy that there's a great Chinese food option nearby. The dan dan noodles are really good. It has a great nutty and sesame flavor with a nice spice, and the pork adds a nice umami element. We went during lunch and got the lunch portions for the Hometown Hot Chicken and the Beef Broccoli dishes. Both were good. The hot and sour soup was also tasty. I'm looking forward to trying more dishes from here. The service was really friendly as well.

First time I went here was amazing, the more I come back the quality of food and service keeps trending downwards. If was a family dinner so I didn't get a chance to take any pictures, but something that stood out to me was their honey walnut shrimp was lacking a lot of sauce. It was mostly just shrimp and batter.

My former 5-star rating had to be downgraded with our latest experience under the new owner. The former Chiam's has gotten a facelift, and new dining room furniture. it looks nice. It was clearly a owner-remodel, as there was gray paint on everything! Interestingly the menu changed. not for the good. they do not have the combo's any longer. The Mar Far chicken is gone, but can be ordered as a sweet and sour with no sauce. The Mongolian beef, normally a favorite, was too slimy, almost tasted like canned beef. This has been our go to favorite for years, now sadly, we are searching for a new westside favorite.

My husband, my son (3y old) and I stopped in randomly as we were passing by the restaurant on the way home. Service was great the moment we walked in. I don't know why they don't have the greatest reviews. Everything was absolutely delicious! This is actually some of the best Chinese food I've had in a really long time. What we orderedCrab rangoons - Fresh, didn't taste like frozen ones that most restaurants serve. Green Onion Pancake - Well executed. Hefty portion and the dipping sounds was bomb.Dan Dan Noodles - MY FAVORITE. Sauce was perfection! Make sure you mix them up really well before hand. Highly recommend. Chicken and Broccoli- A very simple dish, but was just cooked at perfection. Chicken was tender, broccoli had a a great texture and everything was still very flavorful. Mapo Tofu - Highly Recommend! Very well balanced. Just the right amount of schezuan pepper corn. Very authentic flavors! Ambiance is very average, but the food speaks for itself!

Sesame chicken and hot and sour soup. I placed an order to pick up. It was ready on time but the sesame chicken was inedible. It was dry, almost impossible to chew with no flavor and little sauce. This is an area with a large Asian population. No wonder the restaurant was empty. Their prices ($25 , chicken, rice, Soup & tip) was outrages. The soup was thin, over spiced and the worst I have ever had. I was expecting a decent dinner and was served something that was not even poor quality. Save your money and dine else where. No stars!

In summary, absolutely fantastic. If you like Sichuan food, this is absolutely the best around. If you're used to Americanized Chinese food, this is far from that though. They have a few of the 'traditonal' American-Chinese dishes, but I doubt they're what you're expecting.Despite the exterior looking a little rundown, the interior is really clean, and feels comfortable. They even have two of the 'rotating center' family style tables if you are a big enough group.Service was friendly and quick, though they seemed a little running around. All of that though, the food was to die for. Just about everything was the best version of these dishes that I've had, and I've done my best to try every Sichuan place in the northwest. My wife got a Wonton Soup as her meal (though it is an App). Its a pretty sizable portion, designed for a table to share. The wontons had a really nice tasting wrapper and tasty meat. The Bokchoi was cooked to just the right consistency, so was refreshing and great. The broth however, was the star of the show. It was a lovely silky, meaty, flavorful broth that wasn't salty. We shared an appetizer of Spicy Cucumber Salad. This is a dish I've had at a number of places, and is one of my favorites! This however, is likely the best I've had. The cucumbers were mildly dehydrated in some way, so they had a much more rich flavor (less watery!) and ended up being down right buttery! The hot sauce was a perfect amount of spicy, with ginger and garlic giving it a fantastic amount of flavors in addition to the spice. Absolutely a cannot-miss!I ended up having a lunch deal: The Hometown Hot Chicken. It comes with a soup: I got hot and sour. This was a really good version of it, with crisp veggies, and a solid tangy broth that isn't oily. Not a dish I often rave about, but it put me off to a good start. It also comes with some rice, I got a BBQ Pork fried rice, which was REALLY good. The pork is a nice smokey flavor that they must cook the rice in the fat of, because it had a really great flavor with some really nice texture to it. Another dish I rarely care much about, but I was really impressed. However, the absolute highlight of my visit was my main course: "Hometown Hot Chicken" is an inaccurate translation for Chongqing Hot Chicken, which is by far, my favorite dish. I've had it everywhere that offers it within about 300 miles of us. I've been a fan of Taste of Sichuan (which is closed at the time of this review!), and tolerated Sichuan Garden for this dish. I dream of Szechuan Chef pre-move (topic for a different review, but they changed when they moved and its now not as good!).This one was very easily the best version of this dish I've had in years. It competes well with pre-move Szechuan Chef, is significantly better than Taste of Sichuan, and kicks everything else out of the park. This is an absolute all-star, and I wish it was more clear on the menu that this is what this dish was! This review is going a little long, but that is just because of how great this lunch was! I can't wait to go back.

New place, thought I'd give it a try. My favorite Sichuan restaurant closed due to fire over a year ago. Saw that these guys were open and had some of my favorite dishes; fish fillet in hot & spicy gravy, chopped pepper chicken, & cabbage with Chinese peppers. They were amazing. I was ready to be dissappointed but the flavors were spot on. The menu also has Cantonese dishes, which I might try, but I'm coming back for the Sichuan dishes!
