Hinterland Bar & Food Carts

Great food carts here - We've had some excellent eats here- from fries to salad to smoked brisket tacos. Bar has great bevs , comfortable seating with water stations/ tableware/ napkins thru out , nice bathrooms, a big screen TV in the back. Love that it's accessible as well for those who need it! Not crowded during the day with easy parking ( I've parked right in front the 4 times we've been)...

Hinterland is one of my favorite food cart pods in Portland, conveniently located in SE in between Hawthorne and Belmont. It's wildly popular due to several high profile food carts located here, including Matt's Tacos. (Named one Yelp's top taco places in the US!) Seating can be a nightmare, especially if you arrive during lunch on the weekends or dinner during the week. I've waited up to 45 minutes to find a table. There really are a lot of seating options both indoors and on the patio, but it's just so darn popular! There are five food carts in the pod, as well as a central full-service bar. The drinks are delicious, the food is amazing, the location is superb. I promise this will be one of your favorite spots in Portland.

Y'all.....If you have not already tried MUST try!!! Great bar options but Matt's BBQ tacos and new sleeper Hunker down!!! Fried salted chips is mind blowing!!! (Hunker down) Pork belly tacos and the Brisket tacos are my two go to!!!

Hot, hot, HOT! Too hot. Other than that, things seem to be relatively hot Also, the food is moderately spicy.

What a wonderful neighborhood spot! The hinterland had excellent selection, welcoming atmosphere and delicious surrounding food carts! Hinterland is dog friendly (they will provide fresh water bowels). Large fans keep the outdoor eating area cool during the day. We had selections off the non alcoholic menu and would recommend the lime aid with added raspberry flavoring. The service was quick and friendly.

Super cozy spot! Came for the first time recently. There's a lot of different seating options both inside and outside including a heated patio. They have a decent drink list and lots of local taps. I really liked the chill vibe which was just what I was looking for after a day at work.

Paper Plane- the burgers, when they're good, taste like your first backyard BBQ dream cheeseburger. Probably best to go...earlier in the afternoon/evening, as it seems like this convo was definitely had at some point:"'Almost out of meat'? I don't want to hear that! We've got 2 1/2 hours left! Just press them extra flat and make the edges all weird; no one will know the difference".

Did not accept my Oregon interim ID card when I got a new license and was waiting for my hard copy to arrive in the mail. Bartender did not comply with OLCC rules. Bartender also walked away mid-order to take another man's order. Drinks looked good but didn't get a chance to order one. Very disappointed...

Best slushies margs, paired perfectly with Matt's tacos. Kid friendly with lots of covered seating.

We had not been here before, but came to visit Matt's Tacos. If you have not had Matt's Tacos, you need to visit Matt's Tacos.We also tried Hunker Down and Pizza Gold, both of which were EXCELLENT. The cocktails at the bar are pretty good, and the beer selection is good. The covered seating in the back is great for summer or winter. Definitely recommend this place. However, big down side is parking - there is no dedicated parking and street parking is HARD. It's worth it, but plan for a hike.
