Food that will touch your soul. My girlfriend came across this place because of her love for fried chicken. She came with high expectations, and walked out that door on cloud 9 (I was jealous). But we both loved this place! The curry that comes with that combo is heaven sent, from creamy to rich and gentle flavors. I wish I would've ordered a bigger bowl. The chicken did not disappoint either. Perfectly fried, spices were on point, and the actual chicken was juicy. Explored a little and dipped a chicken drum in the curry and it took my taste buds to a different planet. If this food can you give you a hug, best believe it'll be the best hug you'll ever receive. 10/10 would recommend.

My husband has always ordered Hat Yai Chicken from a Khao Mun Gai place in Beaverton. Well, I believe that we should be ordering Khao Mun Gai when we're in a place specializing in KMG, and we should be ordering Hat Yai in a place where they specialize in Hat Yai. So off we go on a Saturday aftery to this place. I was going to prove to him that Hat Yai chicken here should be sooooo much better than Hat Yai chicken at a KMG place. Well, I was wrong. Unfortunately, this is not for us. There's an herb that they used that doesn't cater to our Filipino palate. And the chicken is very dry I can hardly swallow. Sorry, but I'm not coming back here. I'll stick to ordering hat yai in a KMG place, I guess...

I usually try to stop by here everytime I'm in Portland. We got the fried chicken leg quarter from the curry & roti sets and it was delicious! The chicken was super crispy and tender. I really like the roti cause it goes well with the curry. I wish I had more roti to dip the curry in cause I couldn't waste the flavorful curry. Service was quick and easy. You have to order the food first and then either sit down inside or outside. They will bring your food to your table.

This place was highly talked about. For us, it was just ok. The order system is the "you go to the counter and order," and then they bring you the food. This lady who served our food doesn't seem too happy working there. She literally threw our food on the table and walked away. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside, but the seasoning was a little off. It was not our favorite. The curry sauce that came with the fried chicken paired with the rotti was good. Curry sauce is a bit sweet and coconuty. The smoke duck curry was delicious. It was spicy and smoky. They can't adjust the spice level as it was a pre-made curry sauce. The pork belly over rice was way too much soy sauce. Theorize got so salty. At least the porkbelly was good. It did melted in our mouth. Food was no bad overall, but the service was minus.

We came by in the early afternoon and we're able to sit down immediately. The restaurant was cute and clean and the staff were super friendly. We got there with just less than an hour before they closed for the afternoon, so we were a bit worried about timing. We started out with drinks - Thai Tea and a slushy option because it was crazy hot last weekend. We ordered the plate for 2 and it was the perfect amount of food. Two chicken breasts, a wing, and a leg, alongside a generous portion of sticky rice, curry and 2 pieces of roti. I was a huge fan of the roti. It was thick and perfectly crispy. The curry was also so so good. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in Portland.

oh my I love hat yai!! Starting off with parking, it was definitely a bit tricky on a saturday afternoon around 12:30 pm. I had to go around a couple times to snag a spot but I won't let that bring down my rating. Upon walking in, you place your order, take a number and find a seat. I took my food to-go, however, I only had to wait around 5 minutes for my order so I was pleasantly surprised! Onto the food, the star of the show! I ordered the fried chicken set which comes with fried chicken leg quarter, roti & the curry. I also got a thai iced tea. Took me about a 20 minute drive home, but the chicken was still crunchy! Roti was absolutely delicious and I regret not buying an additional one. I dipped all 3 together and it was so so good! definitely wish there was a little spice though. The thai iced tea was freaking amazing!! I would definitely say of all the thai iced tea's i've had so far, hat yai has the best! I would definitely come back soon! 5/5 stars for Hat Yai!

I was recommended to eat Hat Yai a couple of times so my wife and I finally pulled the trigger this past weekend. In short, the food was good! To quote my wife, their flavors are excellent. We ordered the "Hat Yai for 2" and I was pleasantly surprised. The curry is delicious (rich in flavor), the fried chicken is crispy (the shallots and sauce that comes with it compliment the chicken so well), and the roti is a great addition for dipping the curry. The sticky rice is oddly a bit dry for my liking but you can sub for jasmine rice (something I'd recommend doing, but that's just me). And, of course, they serve Coca-Cola (huge win!).We'll definitely be back!

I recently dined at Hat Yai, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The food was absolutely delicious. The fried chicken was cooked to perfection, with the skin being incredibly crispy and flavorful. We also ordered the green curry, which was fantastic and had just the right amount of kick to it. The roti bread paired with the curry was another highlight - fresh and perfectly cooked. The seating arrangements were great, too. We opted to sit outside to take advantage of the lovely weather, which added to the overall enjoyable atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, guiding us through the menu and making excellent recommendations. All in all, Hat Yai exceeded our expectations in every way. Highly recommended!

It is impossible to withhold even one star when it comesHat Yai's intricately spiced chicken. The perfectly cooked meat is seasoned with the fiery taste of autumn. Not spicy, but burning with wild flavor. The accompanying sauces also add layers, and for the most part were simple enough to pair well with the complex flavor of the chicken. Simple but good.
