I enjoyed their unlimited omakase experience. We had a group of 6 on their first few days of introductions to the unlimited omakase menu. The place is very small so we were glad we called in ahead of time for reservation. The experience was great, staffs were very nice and accommodating. Everything we tried on the omakase course was great. One little complaint was that the uni was on the more bland side. Overall we had a wonderful experience, the food kept coming to keep our bellies full. We also had room to order more sushi after the omakase was over. Although the sushi we ordered after the omakase isn't as flavorful due to lack of other ingredients like uni or truffle to top the nigiri as toppings, but the fishes in general were all very fresh and delicious. I am stoked Hamono sushi decided to start unlimited omakase in town. This is a true innovative and authentic way to enjoy unlimited sushi without sacrificing the quality.

I was craving sushi, so while my in-laws were watching the kids, my husband and I decided to stop in for a quick fix. One of the best rolls I've ever had is from here--the Ocean Crunch. I also tried the shrimp tempura roll, but the Ocean Crunch absolutely stole the show. I'll have to come back to Portland just to have it again! The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is that they don't take reservations, so it's first come, first served. The establishment is quite small with limited seating inside. However, they kindly accommodated us just 30-40 minutes before closing, and I'm very grateful for that.

My sister in law and I met up for a later dinner. It's very possible that I could blame all of the mishaps on closing time (we came at 830). Not being in the biz I'm not sure how forgiving to be on this. The highlight was the katsu. Well prepared, good size portions. The salad was not great. I don't know what the issue was. It was really sloppy but tasted like your standard sweet creamy sesame dressing. The sushi was another story. The tamago is store bought. Not impressed. This is $2 on the sushi track. We got the eel roll. The eel again was not the freshest and it was apparent. The king salmon was ok and I ended up with some tuna belly which was good. There's a certain lack of polishing and professionalism that I sensed. There were some issues with my order that just didn't sit right with me. It was handled but still sus. Good location. Very cozy but in our case really noisy. Doubtful I'd return. Sorry.

Looked for a last min place for dinner around where my hotel was and was wanting sushi. This place is def on the smaller side and reservations are recommended. I opted for a sashimi plate (slices of raw fish without the rice) and a side order of salmon nigiri (the slices of fish with the rice). The pricing wasn't bad at all. But I wish there was a way to at least make one or two changes from the "chef's choice", but overall the sushi was decent. The atmosphere is very hole in the wall with pink Sakura flowers hanging from the ceiling. The restaurant sign itself it super cute. The staff is friendly, but wish they were a bit more attentive. I had to ask for refills a few times as they were more attentive to the larger parties.

We did the all you can eat Omakase and it was such a fun experience! I think the value was definitely worth it. You get miso soup, 12 pieces of nigiri, and 3 sake samples. It included some incredible pieces like wagyu, king salmon, scallop, bluefin toro, uni, etc. At the end, you could stay as long as you wanted and order more pieces of nigiri and other dishes from the all you can eat menu. There were some restrictions but not really anything restrictive as you would be too full before you could even max out on anything! It was a great time to be able to try so many new nigiri and then still order all my favorite classics at the end included. It also included 3 dessert choices- we did the mochi which was good but not the best I've had. The service was wonderful, very kind and helpful. The ambiance is good, definitely a small place so highly recommend making reservations!

On the pricier end and smaller portion but the quality of the seafood was good.I enjoyed the Teriyaki Salmon Don that came with two pieces of fatty and well-grilled salmon and two steamed dumplings. Would have like more for $17 but it's overall satisfying.Inside was cozy and well-decorated. Staffs were fast and efficient too.

Despite making reservations, we showed up and there were no tables available. The place is quite small and there were three of us and three seats at the bar along the back wall, so we sat there for about 10 minutes while waiting for a table. The bar area was not clean and we were not offered drinks or anything while we waited. Eventually we were seated and the table was both out of ginger and soy sauce. All of this left a bad first impression. However, everything turned around when the sushi came out.The sushi here is incredible. I recommend everything we ordered (see below) and would love to go back to try the rest of the menu! Hon yari Omakase x2Hamono tastingIchiban Naruto rollToro taku rollNegi Hama

We stumbled upon this spot while walking through downtown. It's a super small place with not much seating. The service was great and our server was friendly. I love that they have a heaping amount of ginger in a jar that's already at your table (I love ginger). The sushi was creative and delicious!

Was in the area for work and Hamono came up high in my search for food sushi. I was not disappointed.I'd been seeking some great crispy rice for a moment and they definitely came thru. I devoured this roll. It was packed with delicious fresh ingredients. Also ordered for lunch was a salmon hand roll. OMG. Any lovers of fresh salmon would smash 2 of these in one 1 minute. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch and planned on coming back but the stars did not align.

Pros: - Good service - Nice design of the restaurant (it is smaller so I wouldn't bring a huge party unless you call ahead)- Some of the best hand rolls I've had!- They offer an omakase option that seems reasonably priced for the amount of food and options you get Cons:- I was disappointed by the very small nigiri portions - The prices were quite high compared to other similar sushi restaurants in the areaOverall I'll come back to try the omakase but this place is not on my top list of sushi restaurants in Portland.
