What a pleasant discovery! This little gem opened quietly and has been turning out solid, dependable, fresh food ever since. The lunch combination box is a strong reason for giving Shaku a try. You pick two of the entrees, which include such gems as fresh tuna and salmon sashimi, salmon or beef yakisoba, spicy chicken (which is), barbecued spare ribs, and other well prepared tastes. It comes with a crispy salad, miso soup, two chicken dumplings, and a California roll-which they cheerfully customized for me to exclude that fake krab. Both my friend and I were more than filled by the sashimi and sides, taking home our respective second entrees and rice for a later meal. The sashimi was fresh, moist, flavorful-nice cuts of fish. The salads, while simple, were crisp and provided a nice counterpoint to the tender fish. The miso was basic yet tasty. Those dumplings are well prepared but I could only eat one. My companion happily finished my second in addition to hers. I ordered the spicy chicken. The chicken was tender; breast and thigh strips marinated in a sauce with a surprising kick on your tongue after a few seconds. My friend had beef teriyaki, which she pronounced tender and rich in flavor. A chatty neurosurgeon at a table behind us said she's come three times to work her way down the menu. She was taking two orders to go for her surgical team to enjoy. They've redone this former sushi train joint (which had grown pretty shabby), creating a bright, light filled, cheery space. The decor reflects pride and loving attention. Our server, Claire, was attentive without being cloying, helpful, prompt. The chefs turned our meals out quite quickly. I have no idea why more people haven't discovered this little spot unless it's because it doesn't reek of self conscious hip and trendy. But it deserves to be supported. The prices are quite fair, the ambiance is welcoming, service is excellent, and the food was prepared with attention to detail. I'll be back. With others.

$15 for the lunch Bento! You can't beat it! Comes with miso and rice. You get to pick 2 entrees from a long list. Was enough food I had leftovers so you basically get two meals out of one. The spicy chicken was recommended by the waitress and was really good. My other entree was the sashimi. Everything was fresh and well made.

The food was yummy. I really liked how the chicken katsu was still so crispy! The chicken teriyaki was tender, and the sauce is on the sweeter side which I don't mind. I like the variety the bento box provides. Even comes with some miso soup and rice. Ordering for pick-up was smooth and easy, I would definitely come back again.

We love coming to Haku Sushi. Their bento boxes are one of the best value amongst other Japanese places (affordable pricing and good quantity - you will have leftover food, which is awesome!). The picture shows how much food we got and there is a full bowl of rice too (not in the pic). Owners are very friendly and services are on point and speedy. We wish we live closer and it's been our go-to when we crave for bentos

Love this place. My kitchen contractors insisted that we try it- they were eating lunch there every day. The quality is excellent, I am super picky about raw fish and I was delighted. My partner's picky about tempura and he also ate every bite. The owners are charming and attentive, the prices are really good and it's walking distance from my apartment/ love it.

They've got bento boxes!!Service is fast and friendly, space is welcoming and laid back, and food definitely will hit the spot!I like the bento as it's hard to find these days. Most native Portland Japanese have died out and gone out of business. It's nice to find any place at all by any owners attempting bento, and theirs is very satisfying and good.It's always been pleasant here and I highly recommend it. This isn't like a conveyor belt sushi. This is definitely a sushi restaurant with a bit more quality and flavor (you can tell in the sushi rice).

The food is abundance. They do not skimp on the meat and noodles. For a person who has an appetite for 2, I was definitely full.In addition, their price was pretty reasonable. Definitely a good luncheon place if you work nearby.
