GiGi's has always been a favorite of ours...the food is great the servers wonderful; today was the exception! 5 of us spent about $150.00 on food and beverage, the food was good and the service exceptional....however the gentleman at the cash register asked us to leave as he felt we had been there too long after finishing our meals and they had people waiting for tables. ( There have been plenty of times we have had to wait for a table and no one has ever been asked patrons to leave...that would be appalling!)When we went up to pay our bill the same gentleman had issues dividing up our charges as we were paying separately. In all the years we have been coming to GiGi's this has never been an issue.Between being asked to leave and the problems at the cash register I am pretty done with this cafe. It left as bad taste in my mouth that is going to be hard to overcome.

Gigi's cafe! A wonderful spot on the West side!I ordered the milk and honey waffle, which was provided a sweet combination of sweet and texture! So yummy! I also ordered the chicken sausage scramble. This was also a great selection for savory!Overall, lots of people on a lovely weekend, so come early to beat the rush!

A step above the usual breakfast joint IMHO, even if it is in a strip mall. Place is much bigger inside than it appears from the parking lot, with a simple unassuming layout. It's spacious but not really cozy. That said, the place to sit is toward the back counter which gives off a more intimate vibe; the huge, front windows only offer great views - of the parking lot. The menu sports a lot of the usual egg dishes but what they're known for are their liege (Belgium) waffles. A little square of a waffle is served up after you sit down as a complimentary sampler (nice!) and honestly, I'm not really a waffle guy, but the chewy goodness if this buttery treat is super-enticing. But I stood firm and opted for the grilled breakfast burrito instead, a wrap packed with warm, perfectly textured potatoes, eggs, a nice chunk of avocado and melty cheese. Not huge, but a mouthful of excellent flavor, and to top it off, their coffee comes out of a big fancy machine that produces a rich cup of java that is miles above the average diner swill. And the cheerful crew will brag to you about it too.As a side note, their prices are higher than you'd expect (my burrito was $20) but that's because the tip is included, and the business pays its employees a living wage, factors in health care and other benefits to reflect what they call "the true cost of eating out." Hey that's just fine with me; everybody wins. All in all a solid pick with fresh food, friendly employees and a thoughtful business model.

Right as we waltzed in, the crew was all smiles and full of chatter about their weekend brunch lineup, practically singing odes to their Italian orange juice maker. It was like, "Welcome! Have you met our fancy gadget that turns oranges into juice?" So, obviously, we had to dive into the brunch menu, especially after the server hyped it up like it was the next big thing since sliced bread. We went with the buffalo Benedict because the server wouldn't stop raving about it. It was good, don't get me wrong, but it didn't have me shouting from the rooftops. Then came the chicken and waffles. The chicken was just a whisper away from the crispy glory I had envisioned, but those Liège waffles that came with the fried chicken? Absolute stars of the show. Now, about that orange juice. It came out proudly, boasting its "fresh from the fancy Italian squeezer" badge, but alas, it was as warm as a summer's day. Not exactly the refreshing sip I was longing for with my brunch. In hindsight, I might have been better off passing on the juice, sticking to the solid winners of the meal.

I recently visited this popular breakfast hotspot, expecting a delightful experience based on the rave reviews, but I was left quite underwhelmed. The food looked great but didn't deliver in taste. The breakfast potatoes were overcooked and lacked flavor. The waffles were bland and didn't have the slightest hint of sweetness or butteriness that you would expect. Even the signature dish, which came highly recommended, was a letdown as it was doused in a flavorless gravy. On a positive note, the service was great; our server was attentive and friendly. The ambience was okay, though the stressed host at the front seemed to bring down the otherwise fun vibe of the place. It was busy, but I'm assuming this wasn't the host's first day. Overall, it was a very average experience and definitely did not live up to the hype. I don't plan on returning.---

Have you ever wanted your coffee cream served in a tiny milk can? Well, you can achieve that dream at GiGi's Cafe. Delicious hot coffee with a tasty bite-sized liege waffle as an appetizer. My breakfast included grits & greens along side my eggs. The waffle was amazing, so much fruity, sweet goodness in every bite. We were seated quickly and the wait staff was very attentive. The cafe is quaint and located in a neat strip mall. I can't wait to come back!

The service was amazing! This is a no tip place so the prices reflect that which I felt was worth it. The space is clean and feels open and comfortable. The coffee was perfect and I believe is made in house. Those waffles are perfect and the food was all around great.

The café felt very rustic and was awesome to eat. Then the seating was pretty close and the staff of super Duper friendly.I got the eggs Benedict. I thought it needed quite a bit of salt and pretty much all of it and the potatoes but I still enjoyed it. I usually like the holiday sauce a lot more savory is my main input on this .

The waffles at Gigi's are some of the best I have ever had. They have MANY waffle varieties to choose from too. Gigis also has egg/protein dishes, vegan, gluten free, and for drinks drip coffee, lattes, or Mimosas depending on your vibe that day. They are a no tip establishment, building it into their price to ensure fair wages to employees, which I think is amazing. Gigi's is a popular local place, so if you arrive after 9:15-9:30 on a weekend, be prepared to wait for a moment. After 10:00 on a weekend, wait might be a few moments.Very casual Portland vibe, so jeans, flannels, and Columbia wear will be at most tables. Typical Portland!

I was part of the same party as the reviewer below for this date. We've been coming to this restaurant for many years, and have spent plenty of time waiting in line as there are no reservations. To be hurried out like we were was unacceptable. We had not even been there that long and there were not a large number of people waiting. Then there were huge problems at the checkout. In the past, we've always just brought up the whole check, and each person pays their individual share. Quick and easy. This time they were only able to accept 2 cards for a party of 5, requiring some scrambling on our parts. The gentleman that had hurried us out was trying to do the math while checking us out, with no calculator and while flustered and ended up shorting himself. Really? Was it worth it to turn the table over 5 minutes sooner? You've probably lost us as customers from this.
