Gen Sushi

Service is good, ambience fun and easy to navigate around. Food quality is average to below average. Enjoyed the salmon nigiri, saba was okay, a little dry, creamy scallop wasn't very good at all, way too much cream, made it too overwhelming to eat. Spicy tuna was decent but not spicy at all. Escolar was okay...tasted a bit fishy. The miso was good. A little salty but warming. Ikura was poorly made. I understand the cost of ikura is high, instead of putting a thin layer of ikura eggs on a thick clump of rice, just serve it as one piece instead. See my photos and videos. Also the rice portioning for everything was way too much vs the fish ratio. It should be half the amount of rice that they had put on. It's a decent affordable sushi spot for basic specialty rolls, but for other traditional nigiri and cuts, I don't recommend them besides the salmon. The hot tea was good, hojicha. Also they don't greet or say goodbye like I typically see in other sushi restaurants, which is not a big deal.

LEARN FROM ME! I ordered late afternoon and it was clear by the dryness that my order had been sitting on the 'sushi carousel' for hours! I also called right after putting in my delivery order, specifically requesting extra Wasabi. Nothing extra. Just a little dibi'dab that wasn't near enough. I would have been better off getting day old gas station sushi.

Lots of choices, lots of help from staff deciding on what best suits your palate. The sushi is excellent and very fresh. Will definitely revisit.

They make alright sushi. But service... no words. I came alone just to it, it was in pretty busy hour and two waiters where talking to so loud. They where lauded then costumers . Like seriously , do they even know what is it to let people eat quality. It was just taking to each other across the whole place , it was on different language, laughing talking loud like almost screening, talking to people who made sushi. They don't make people feel comfortable.

My husband and I have come here a few times now and the food is always so good! The service is great! Everyone is super friendly. The music they play is always upbeat. Lastly, the pricing is fantastic! It's an all around good experience every time! This is becoming a go to sushi spot for us!

Love Gens! Their happy hour is dope! Happy hour is all day on Sundays too! $2.95 for all plates of all colors. How can you compete? The sushi chefs are always willing to make you something if you don't see it on the conveyor belt, but usually it's stacked. Waitresses are nice and gave us space which I appreciate. Will definitely come again!

The first thing you will notice when sampling the sushi at Gen Sushi is how tightly wrapped the sushi is rolled and how fresh the ingredients being used are. The quality is in the flavors and I'm confident it will be a new favorite destination.The service is impressive and everyone is always checking if you are doing well and would like anything else. There is music playing and it is very clean. You have different options of booth or bar and you can dine in or do take out . Highly recommended if quality of sushi matters to you. The best part if you can't decide what you want to order you can observe the sushi go round line and choose from a variety of delicious options .

good food.......it takes a real klutz to make "bad" sushi. I will probably go there again.

The egg & Philadelphia roll were so bad I couldn't eat them. The egg had a previously frozen texture & the salmon in the Philly seemed off. The scallops were very disappointing. The seaweed is too short for a boat & it's so saucy it's really hard to eat. The other rolls were pretty underwhelming too but I ate them.. it's been an hour or two since I ate & my stomach does not feel good so I kinda regret eating any of it. Everything just seems a little off here and I will not be going back. The stuff at Fred Meyer seems like better quality

The food is fair compared to traditional Japanese sushi shops. Stick to sushi and you'll be fine. We ordered other items off the menu (non-sushi) and we were disappointed. The seafood is pretty fresh at fair quality. We did love their hot tea, very genuine in quality!
