Food was good. I would or would not order this sandwich again. I'd rate it a 7/10. Not bad. Fries were your average fries. I'll be back to try something new. Maybe their black bean burger. Service was great, everyone was welcoming, helpful, and friendly. Ambiance of the restaurant was great. Clean, modern, and great outdoor seating space. They have adult beverages to choose from which was nice. Picked up an IPA.

Part of Portland's Elephants chain, Flying Elephants is a smaller outpost located amongst the OHSU complex at the South Waterfront. Since I walk the Tilikum Bridge almost daily, I am a huge fan of this particular location because they offer the same delicious food and for me, it's super convenient. For the first 14 months of Covid they were closed so I was thrilled when they reopened in July 2021. While this location Is small, they offer all the popular standards. In the take out refrigerator area, you will find their awesome chicken Cesar salad. Yes, it's easy to make but when you are out and about and want a healthy and satisfying meal, this hits the spot! The lettuce is crisp, the chicken breast moist and flavorful, and the homemade croutons and dressing are both delicious. In the take out area there are several types of salads like the PNW salad made of baby greens, dried cranberries and walnuts with a raspberry vinaigrette. And several grain salads. Also premade sandwiches: egg salad, tuna, ham & cheese on a baguette to name a few. The hot food counter has their amazing mac & cheese with cavatappi pasta, their addictive chicken enchiladas, fresh made pizza, and comforting soups. They freshly grill sandwiches, burgers and breakfast items too. Lots of baked goods - scones, cookies, muffins, brownies, baguettes - that are baked daily at Elephants Central Kitchen located in SE Portland. This ensures consistent flavor and quality across all locations. Along the counter and in impulse areas are 4 & 8oz bags of high-end candies that are challenging to pass up. Everything is tantalizing!Flying Elephants hasHappy Hour from 3-6pm Mondays through Friday. I like to plan a late afternoon walk then stop here for a glass of wine and snack for dinner, sitting outside taking in the gorgeous view. Beer, hard cider and cocktails are also available. Located next to Starbucks at the SW Moody MAX Station, this outpost is convenient for all those commuting to this area. Easy to pick up dinner, snacks and a bottle of wine to go. As with all Elephants, prices are on the higher side but the quality is equally high. I continue to support them as I have never been disappointed; quite the opposite, I love everything I've purchased from Elephants and want the chain, and particularly this location, to stay in business.

Overpriced breakfast sandwich is a sad excuse for an Egg McMuffin. Find a Mickey D's and save yourself the heartache!

This place is bright and clean and full of delicious food and drink! It's only sad that they close early and aren't open on weekends, but I guess when the OHSU workers aren't around, it's too slow. I need to take a few moments to praise the Elephants Black Bean Burger. OMG. It is the best black bean burger I've had -- knocking out my previous best which is all the way over in Massachusetts. I ordered it the exact way they make it -- I didn't leave anything off or make substitutions. It was so delicious and flavorful and satisfying. There's a lit bit of crispiness on the outside and it's got the perfect spice without being overly spicy. It was on a fresh brioche bun with the lettuce, onions, pepperjack, and BBQ sauce. I cannot wait to get another one! They had a ginger pomegranate cider on tap that went perfectly! The double chocolate chip cookies are also stellar, and service was great.

Service can be really rude, not all of them of course just like 2 out of 5 employees. Food service is a very special and sensitive area, please leave your frustrations behind the counter and be kind to people, besides the food there is not for free. We are paying customers.

First of all, for service this place is fantastic and I appreciate all the employees I've encountered so far. However, I'm writing this review specifically about Ceilidh! She is WONDERFUL and a very bright, cheerful, and lovely soul. She's a pure delight to engage with and is the type of person who reminds you of the beauty of experiencing the world and people. I'm very glad to have met her, even if just to validate my cookie obsessions and desires. I'd give a 10 out of 5 stars purely for her vibrance. :)The reason for the 4 stars though is merely because while I've enjoyed several delicacies from here, a few items have been slightly lackluster in flavor but I realize that is purely subjective. Overall, I have not been disappointed and I would still very highly recommend coming here and trying various items from their baked goods to the fresh grill or the cold case to-go items!

Elephants Delicatessen, sometimes called Flying Elephants, is a local delicatessen and catering company that began in 1979. There are currently seven locations of this Portland based company. This location is the newest and seemingly one of the busiest. This "Elephants" is located on the southwest corner of the Robertson Life Sciences Building next door to Starbucks. It is conveniently located near the South Waterfront/ SW Moody MAX Station. The Orange line stops here on it's way across the Tilikum Crossing Bridge. The Portland Streetcar has a nearby stop. There is a wide assortment of prepackaged grab n go food available here that is all made fresh from scratch every day at the "Elephants" central kitchen. There is also a hot foods counter and a grill where you can order breakfast sandwiches and burgers. In addition to all the bottled beverages available in the cold case, you can order coffee, espresso and tea. At this location you can enjoy happy hour Monday-Friday from 3-6pm. There is a small bar menu offering wine by the glass, cocktails, beer and cider. There is also bottled wine for purchase to go. The ordering, pick up and pay route here is a bit befuddling. But the employees seem to be used to this confusion and are good about redirecting lost customers. All the food I've tried here has been very good. In fact I've never been disappointed in anything except the price. I know, they're concerned with sustainability. But that's a luxury for many who are struggling to pay their bills.

This was the worst breakfast sandwich. Rubbery, not great sausage. I would expect more from Elephants. How about toast the bagel? This is worse than McDonalds. I threw it away after three bites. Yuck.
