Excellente!!! The food and service here is phenomenal. The ambiance is relaxed casual dining with televisions showing soccer matches. I had the mole enchiladas and my family had the tostada and carnitas plate which were delicious. The large margaritas are the size of a fishbowl! The portions are LARGE.We've been twice now, once to check it out and once to celebrate my daughters graduation. It's consistently delicious.

Five of us went here, last night, and we all left very happy and full, with leftovers. Service was excellent and friendly. Two of us had been before, and recommended the chips and queso, and wow was it delicious! Definitely recommend that. Their chips are warm & crispy, and the bowl of queso dip was generous, served hot, and a must get from now on.We ALL loved our food:We had the perfectly cooked/seasoned chicken Indio Bowl, the Carne Asada, a Shrimp dish, (sorry, can't remember which she ordered but she said the shrimp was perfectly cooked), the Mexican Pizza, (so cute it looked like the Mexican flag on top), and generous sizzling steak fajitas.Drinks were delicious, too I had a skinny margarita (in the smaller of two sizes available) and it was generous, fresh tasting, and beautiful. Others were very happy with their mocktail, and beer. The restaurant itself is less than a year old and looks it. Very nice looking, clean, contemporary, wood ceiling dining room with a nice bar in the center with seating. Those in our party that live close by in Irvington District have had dinner here a few times, & remarked they could also see themselves coming over sometimes just for the queso and margs, at the bar. The tables are a beautiful, dark, lacquered wood & the chairs are comfortable, heavy.I'll be back for sure and I really recommend checking it out. They have a happy hour, too.To the reviews saying it's expensive, I think it's reasonably priced & worth every penny for the quality of food, attentive service, and well prepared cocktails. I can only imagine what their lease must cost, and we all know food is expensive everywhere, so I'm surprised by all the people that were surprised by the prices. I had two tacos and a sparkling water at a food truck last week, and it was the same price as my huge chicken Indio Bowl, $17, so obviously a personal view on pricing is subjective. *Pics of some, attached

The food and drinks here are amazing. Large portions and friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. What's confusing is on Google this place is called Casa Madera. I kept entering that name on Yelp and it couldn't find it.

Three stars for the good service from our waitress, clean environment(except floors are slickkk), and good music. The food overall is a 2 star for me. The chips and salsa were good. Chips were fresh and warm. We stuck with water to drink today. I got a ground beef enchilada and a chicken hard shell taco and rice. Rice was not warm, chicken had zero flavor. Like zero. The shell was good so I used it to scoop rice. Enchilada was ok. Ground beef was good. My wife had the carne asada taco salad. It was huge. She said the meat was like it was re-heated and not made fresh. It didn't look very good. The ranch we thought was Kraft out of the bottle. Overall with the price we paid for two meh meals, we choose to not return. Will stick with our go-to places. We tried it in hopes to throw this into rotation. Others may enjoy...

I watched for two months as this space in my part of the city became revitalized, morphing into a sleek, stylish Mexican restaurant. Tonight, I went, eager and hungry, for dinner. Happy to support a new business-especially one where all the faces in the kitchen, bar, and front of the house appear to be brown. I sat down and studied the menu, ready to try something new. Expecting the chef of a place named El Indio de Oro to offer up a few dishes not usually found in a Mom and Pop Mexican restaurant. Alas, I was disappointed. It's a short menu featuring pretty standard fare. Enchiladas, burritos, fajitas, tacos, and a few familiar seafood and beef dishes share the page with the one true surprise, several vegetarian options. I then experienced a serious jolt of sticker shot. These dishes hang out in the mid 20's, with a few in the high teens. The good ole combo platters, along with side dishes, can be had at more reasonable rates. I mean, I'm happy to pay $24-28 dollars for an interesting dish, but it seems a bit bold to charge $24 for 3 tacos. Still, let's consider what they do well. First, as I mentioned, it's a pretty little restaurant. Warm wood tones blend with tasteful hues on the wall. The bar is spacious and inviting. There are two televisions, both playing sports (at decent, discrete levels). The staff are excellent. Service was prompt; my server even returned to clarify a small order substitution I'd requested (black beans instead of refried). They were friendly, proficient- made me feel they cared. The kitchen was on the ball, too, turning out my order quickly. I ended up ordering an enchilada and tostada combo, one of the more affordable options. The chicken was tender, the beans perfect, even the rice was delicious. Not greasy, but soft, flavorful. The portions were generous enough that I took half of it home for lunch the next day. I overheard the people at the table next to me lamenting the prices, too. Though they managed to spring for margaritas, which were large and from what I could hear, well made. I plan to return for lunch, when the prices seem reasonable and fair, to try something else. I give this place an extra half star: 3 1/2 because they've only been open a week and things flowed smoothly. Maybe when they settle in they'll up their menu game to match their prices. They've definitely got service and ambience down. I look forward to being able to give them a full five stars.

O boy. These folks aren't going to be there very long. Their prices are ridiculous-$20 for 3 tacos? $16 burrito? For average taqueria fare. The service was not particularly friendly and seemed to rush us out, hovering. One woman asked if she could take my plate and I said " I think I'm still nibbling" and she nodded while taking my plate away. If you're looking for a straight up, family owned business check out El Sombrero. Their food is traditional taqueria, margaritas but the staff is phenomenal and super friendly. Oh and this place? They charged 25¢ for a togo box! What?
