Eem is one of those places where it's wonderful and delicious if you visit once in a while. The flavor is bold and makes you crave for more, however, if you do visit too often it can get overwhelming. The service is always friendly and wait time for tables can be long depending on if it's rush hour or not. This place is a true Portland gem and will never disappoint.

Came here for lunch and had a great meal! They're Thai fusion keep in mind! But it's a pretty hip joint. Service is really helpful and friendly!Had their smoked kra pao, chopped bbq fried rice, sweet and sweet and sour chicken, papaya salad, and their white curry with brisket burnt ends. We basically got most of the popular items. Some were better than others:Smoked kra pao: 7.5/10Chopped bbq fried rice: 8.5/10Sweet and sour chicken: 8.4/10White curry with brisket burnt ends: 7/10Papaya salad: 6.5/10- Keep in mind portion sizes feel pretty small!- Street parking- Great for all occasions!Solid place overall!

I've had Eem on my list for forever, but every time we come by, it's packed. So today, on a Saturday evening, we decided to just stick it out. For the four of us, they told us it would be a 45 minute wait. It turned out to be an hour and we were seated outside. Thankfully there are some really cute shops you can peruse while you wait. But maybe that is their plan! We were starving by the time we got a seat!We ordered three appetizers: the ceviche, a large size of the sweet and sour chicken, and the papaya salad. The tuna melted in your mouth, and I loved the toppings to combat the creaminess. The chicken was boneless but still very flavorful and crispy! We should've ordered more of this. The papaya salad was the right amount of spice and sour flavor! We ordered family style and shared the vegetable fried rice, the spicy jungle curry, and the green curry. The fried rice was pretty incredible. I loved the mushrooms and the garlic in it. The spicy jungle curry was a bit of a let down. We ordered it because it was so unique, but it ended up having a very plain tasting soup base. The meat, at least, was very tender, though small in portion. On the other hand, the green curry was beautiful. It was so creamy and perfectly spicy. I just didn't love the protein choice. Overall, Eem was yummy but the wait was long and the portion sizes left us still hungry!

Visited Eem through recommendations from friends and I am so glad my friends and I had a chance to go as we were visiting Portland for only a couple of days.Food: 10/10. Their curries are so flavorful and amazing, one of the best I've tasted! Even their cocktails were so good.Service: 10/10! A waitress noticed that it was my birthday when looking at my ID and told the bartender and the bartender did a candle on a cinnamon stick on my drink. It was so cute and the drink was delicious on top of that!Ambiance: 10/10, so great in there and loved their decor. Overall, will come back here whenever I am back in Portland!

Came here on a Saturday at 2 pm and it was packed! For a party of 5 we waited almost an hour. The staff were very friendly though and the food came out quickly once we ordered and were seated. We ordered the hot fried cauliflower, sweet and sour chicken, smoked pork krapao, white curry with brisket burnt-ends, and chopped bbq fried rice. Honestly, everything was so good and I have a hard time picking a favorite item. I highly recommend trying them all! I have a severe peanut allergy and had no issues eating here, just let them know about your allergies before ordering. This is definitely my favorite restaurant in Portland and will definitely be back!

This place is a MUST try in Portland. It's a soul food and Asian fusion place. We got the sweet and sour chicken and bbq fried rice. It was so good I came back AGAIN the next day by myself for the bbq fried rice! The chicken was crispy and the fried rice was so flavorful. Dinner is always slammed but I would suggest coming during lunch and you'll be able to walk in and get seated pretty fast. The interior is filled with lots of decor and plants. Service is super fast and friendly!

This place is so good!! Went here for date night and it did not disappoint!! The place is small so do a reservation because of the wait. The burnt ends coconut curry is amazing along with the fried rice. We wanted to order more but were completely stuffed! I would recommend ordering a couple of things and sharing

Eem in Portland offers a unique fusion of Thai cuisine and BBQ, combining flavors that you wouldn't typically associate with either style. The menu is creative, featuring dishes like sweet and sour fried chicken, BBQ fried rice with brisket, and red curry with seasonal vegetables. For those who appreciate a bold mix of flavors, the BBQ and Thai curries are an interesting balance, but if you're looking for traditional Thai dishes, you might find the taste a bit unconventional.I personally prefer more authentic Thai cuisine. For instance, the papaya salad was way too spicy for my taste, and it lacked the vinegar balance typically found in traditional Thai versions. The pulled pork curry had great flavor, but the texture of the pulled pork didn't quite work with the curry. The BBQ pork fried rice had excellent wok hei, but the pork was tougher than expected.Eem's cocktails are inventive, with drinks like the Salad Days and Strawberry Almond Cooler offering fun and refreshing twists. The decor adds to the cool, modern vibe of the place, though the prices are on the higher side, especially compared to what I'm used to in LA. Overall, it's a great spot for American BBQ lovers who enjoy Thai-inspired flavors, but it might not hit the mark for those seeking traditional Thai food.

Such a great meal. I came here with my family on recommendation from my younger brother and it hit the spot (food AND drinks)! The cocktails weren't too sweet and my drink, Separation Anxiety, brought out the lychee flavor nicely. A little heavy on the ice but otherwise great. The curries were top notch. I've never had anything like the white curry before, but it paired with rice so well and the brisket was done perfectly. Red curry was well seasoned and flavorful too. The fried chicken was great. Not too heavily breaded nor overbearingly sweet, just right. The fried rice was probably the weakest out of all the items, as it felt a little burnt, but the flavor was still there. Overall, 9.5/10. Would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area.

Wow! Soooo good! We had the Jesus and Tequila drink, white curry w/brisket burnt ends, and the chopped BBQ fried rice. My only regret is not having a big enough stomach to try the fried cauliflower and the sweet & sour chicken I kept seeing go passed. You must go!!
