Colibri by Tamale Boy

For lunch we loved the halibut tacos and Sonoranese sausage with pintos and a side of black beans. Both dishes were loaded with scrumptious toppings and condiments. Very beyond Mex. Halibut tacos were overflowing generously with red & green cabbage, pico de gallo, jalapeño mayonnaise with lime vinaigrette. Filled up the plate beautifully and filled up my wife's tummy too!I love a Tucson style Sonoran hot diggity dog. Nobody does like Tucson until now. Colibri created a Sonoran masterpiece with a Zenner sausage wrapped in bacon, pintos scattered aboout, pico de gallo, jalapeño salsa, ketchup, cream Mexicana on a tasty bun. This was a dog feast like no other!Great convivial vibe, wonderful service and delish Mex dishes.

Spot on! Small but clean and designed for getting in, eating a bad ass meal with competent service and getting on with your day.I followed the bartenders recommendation, ordering a Berea taco and the chili Verde tamale. Both were extremely fresh and flavorful. Served with a Mexican Coke for perfection.

we stopped in for brunch and both had huevos rancheros; it was delicious! the place seems to be expanding so excited for that. had a small problem with our order but it was corrected right away, I felt bad making a fuss but the service was perfect. The music and atmosphere is nice and not too loud either.

Colibri is a casual spot with 3 small tables in the back and counter seating up front. We tried a chorizo breakfast burrito, tamale, and the halibut fish taco. Fats service and good eats.

Checked out Colibri's for brunch. We went around 11:30am on a Saturday and the place was not busy at all. The seating inside was quite limited and the four of us sat outside. It's counter ordering but the staff were attentive and the service afterwards was great. I tried the grits - the birria was flavorful and cooked to perfection; the grits on the other hand was too rich and like straight up queso (it was great until.. it was too much). The tres leches milk punch, omg, was so over the top, in the best way possible. It's complex, boozy, and not too sweet! I tried the fish taco too and the fish was lightly breaded and perfectly fried. The tacos are on the pricey side but are HUGE! I recommend trying them out!

If I could give Colibri six stars I would. Service was friendly and quick but the place was also empty at 5pm on a weekday. Why is a place like this empty? Perhaps some of the best casual Mexican fare in Portland is right here on 12th and Glisan. Colibri looks high end but it's pretty casual. They serve an assortment of cocktails but the star today on our plates are the tamales and fish tacos. Fish tacos are hard to get right and Colibri knocks it out of the ballpark. Perfect construction, amazing flour tortillas, and the flavor is spot on. The tamales are soft and decadent with flavors that stand out compared to other places in Portland. I will be back to try more for sure.

Has a happy hour from 3-6 pm... great HH menu... nice drinks. Grab some Tamale Boy tamales and a fab drink. Add this to your HH list! Fantasy service! Nicely decorated!

Wow!! The most delicious tacos I have ever had. Amazing drinks and great service. Food was absolutely phenomenal.

I was on my neighborhood walk and saw that this place was having a soft opening today. So I popped in to check it out. Usually soft openings are somewhat of a train wreck as it is the test run. This was amazing. I had the 3 halibut tacos($17) Pineapple Cocktail($13?) and a Modelo($5) they were not only really good, they were huge. I wouldn't call these street tacos cause they were large. See pic. The couple next to me ordered a Tamale and if the tacos weren't so good I would regret my decision on that. It's all bar seating, maybe 20 stools with backs. My only thought is they need a much larger Tequila selection. This is the kind of place that needs their own Tequila list of 60+ tequilas.

The food is AMAZING. I had the halibut tacos and they were beyond delicious. My boyfriend said his meal was 10/10. The service was super kind and attentive, plus had great recommendations. Thank you so much!!!
