Chicken Little Restaurant

This is my neighborhood fried chicken joint. My. Dad has been a loyal eater of this fine dive for many years. The chicken is always hot and fresh and very crispy, enjoy some to go with jo-jo's and slaw and find a nice park to Dine in. This place is beyond divey with it's own neighborhood bar stool shit talkers. Beware of that. The chicken is solid and good.

The fried chicken is superlative. Went in around noon for a late breakfast, I don't have a bad thing to say about my experience. I ordered a chicken breast and an ala cart waffle. The chicken was tender and juicy, with a nice crispy crust. They use a dry rub, that through some kind of kitchen magic, seasons the meat to the bone. My waffle was the big surprise, this was the holy grail of a scratch made waffle (not some generic Sysco mix) I think it was sourdough, or maybe they use a generous amount of buttermilk in the batter- whichever, it had a nice bit of tangy acidity to it. It was crispy on the outside, and deliciously chewy and moist on the inside. Another thing, people say it's a dive, but let me qualify that. Sure it looks like an old tavern from the outside, but inside it's clean as a whistle and nicely updated. Don't go here expecting some precious Portlandia nonsense, this is delicious food for real working people. We were waited on by the bartender, who was a lovely dude, and kept our drinks full, and table clean, all while tending to the bar and other tables. I plan to become a regular. (p.s. I do not work here, or know the owners. I walked in cold off the street having not even heard of it before.)

I decided to go with the fried chicken sandwich this time. It was decent. Nothing spectacular regarding flavor. It was a nice big breast though and it was cooked fine. Nice and tender. The tots were good. Again, the sandwich was decent and good sized for sure and the price was very fair. Any seasoning at all would likely bump this sandwich to the next level.

Disappointed. I really was looking forward to the chicken wings! They were just too small for the price of $8.00 for the Wing Ding deal. They tasted good, just wasn't worth it. The awesome bartender did make me want to come back cuz she was very friendly. But probably won't order again. Might have been my over expectations from what I've read.

Clean, good hot chicken, great service, room for large groups. Had 2 piece dark meal, came with salad, choice of tots/fries/jojos 9.50. Filling and tasty. Will be back!

Fried chicken. Yummy, non-healthy goodness. I also just really wanted some.Now let me clarify something about this place. The "Chicken Little" part of this places is little more than take-out. It is all part of the Hour Glass Pub which essentially is a dive bar with everything included seems to have been from the Baby Boomer generation (or earlier), customers included. But the beer is cheap and the staff are friendly.The chicken takes 20 minutes. Just wanted to give you that friendly warning. The chicken is pretty good. The Jo Jos were just large potato wedges, not chicken fried like others I've had and the slaw was pretty decent as well. The food was not that greasy either. The chicken could have used a bit more salt, but other than that, I was satisfied.Being that I'm moving a lot closer to this spot, I can easily see stopping by here when I have a craving for some fried chicken (and I don't feel the urge to make it myself)Enjoy.

Super fresh and yummy chicken! It was so fresh that I had to wait to dig in because it was so hot. But the skin was crispy, and the chicken juicy. I'll definitely come back to this hidden gem.

I love this places Jo Jos. They are big dense seasoned potatoe wedges served with a tasty thick ranch. The small order is the perfect amount for 1 person. They are connected to a bar so you can go to the bar place an order and enjoy a drink, a game of pool or video poker while you wait for your food. The bartenders Heavy and Laela are great too.

I'm giving Chicken Little 2 stars because the drinks were strong and the music was great.Other than that there's not much special about chicken little.My parter and I had a hankering for fried chicken and didn't feel like making it ourselves so we figured, why not?We both decided on the chicken and waffles.Let me tell you, I was not impressed. My partner who will eat just about anything and not complain, complained. That in itself speaks volumes.The chicken had a decent crisp but had no flavour other than that of grease that needed to be changed. The waffle was flat and flavourless. Come to think of it so was the syrup... and the butter. Needless to say. We won't be back.

We were never waited on. The bar tender went on a ten minute break after we walked in. We watched her smoking with her friend. Then she walked past us after her break, served her friends at the bar then ten minutes later she took the effort to yell at us that we need to come to the bar if we wanted anything. We walked out. It's too bad because we wanted to try the chicken. If you're not a regular there I don't think you can expect to get any service in between the cigarette breaks.
